Mission: Episode 11 - Divinum Mundi
Location: USS Galileo - Various
Timeline: MD 01 - 0110 hrs

[ON]

Galileo was officially now underway to her latest destination, but before the tiny surveyor ventured too far from the Sol system, her orders mandated that she rendezvous with the colony ship to escort it on its path to the new world. A Nova-class wasn't the most speediest of starships by any means, and neither were the much larger Colony-class freighters which sometimes housed thousands of colonists and heavy equipment. Together though, the two would slowly but surely make their way to the Celes system and complete their mission. Or so was the plan.

The point where the USS Semmes and the Galieo would intercept was fast approaching. Miraj glanced at the Conn with a drop of sadness. She was still waiting to be allowed to open the throttle and really feel the ship without anything in the way, she just had to wait a little longer. The speed was still steady at warp 5. At that rate it wouldn't be long. "Sir," she turned round to address Captain Holliday. "Approximately five minutes from rendezvous, preparing for full stop."

"Thank you Helmsman." Holliday acknowledged, looking down at the sensor feed alongside him as he confirmed the Ensign's report.

=^=Bridge to Admiral Saalm - we're five minutes from the rendezvous point.=^=

Inside her ready room office, Lirha listened to her XO's report come in through the comm. "On my way," she acknowledged, putting down her caesar salad and fork before wiping her mouth clean and standing up. A few seconds later the door to her office swished open and the Orion stepped out into the bridge. She gave a light tug on the front of her uniform to smooth it out over the bump in her belly.

She gave a nod to Holliday before replacing his position in the center seat. "What is the position of USS Semmes?" she asked, wondering how long until the two vessels would meet.

Strange, thought Lirha who glanced at Holliday wondering why there seemed to be a miscue of some sort. "Commander Kohl...have we received any information about a delay in the mission?" Perhaps the arrival times had gotten confused on one end or the other.

Standing at the Mission Ops panel behind the command well, Andreus Kohl shook his head at Lirha's question. Off the top of his head, Commander Kohl replied, "Negative, Admiral." Nearly as soon as he words came out of his mouth, Kohl second-guessed himself. He swiped one hand down the ship's communication logs and tapped through the status briefs from Starfleet Command. The bearded Argelian continued shaking his head when he couldn't find anything relevant. "There have been no reports of USS Semmes being delayed in its progress," Kohl said.

A soft sigh escaped the captain's gold lips before she craned her head around to the stations behind her. "Lieutenant von Haeften, switch to long range sensors and try to locate USS Semmes transponder," she instructed before turning the other way towards the primary Ops console. "Send a transmission to Semmes, inform them we are approaching the rendezvous coordinates."

Quinn stood back, over looking the Auxiliary Tactical Station. He was mentoring a young Petty Officer at the station, and wanted to be close to be sure the newly minted NCO wasn't overwhelmed.

"Jawoehl Frau Admiral." Wilhelm responded. He punched in the command to the sensors and got his reply shortly.

"Admiral...sensors show her still in orbit around Earth." Von Haeften reported.

That was ... odd, to say the least, considering they had some time to prepare. Keying a message to the Semmes inquiring their current status, Noah sent it through and was pleased to receive an answering hail almost immediately. "I have an incoming message from the Semmes," he announced.

"On screen," said Saalm who now turned her focus back to the main viewscreen. The large holographic display briefly shimmered to materialize and display the large image of a young Starfleet captain situated in his chair aboard the colony ship. "Commander Reyes," she greeted with a small smile and a nod. She remembered him from her mission briefing with Starfleet Command prior to departing Jupiter Station, but had not realized how young he would appear.

"Admiral," he promptly said after seeing her aboard the bridge of Galileo. "Apologies for our delay...it's taken Doctor Iroh longer than expected to load her prototype and all the other equipment for her research," he started to explain with a bit of exasperation present in his smooth features. "I estimate with our current schedule, we can be at the rendezvous coordinates within --"

Reyes was interrupted by a small commotion outside of view and several words could be heard being exchanged. Suddenly, the stern face of a middle-aged woman clad in traditional civilian Starfleet science garbs appeared on screen, leaning in front of the lieutenant commander to explain the situation.

"Ahhh Admiral Saalm - I do apologise for the delay! We had an issue with some of the calibration equipment..the errr....positronic alignment array was somewhat more uncooperative than I had hoped but please rest assured we have it all under control now!"

"Oh. Yes, I see." Positronic alignment array? Calibration? Lirha didn't want to ask and instead nodded as if her computer programming skills were up to date and competent. "I am sorry you are experiencing troubles...when do you anticipate you can get underway and rendezvous with us? Several of my personnel are very capable of assisting you and have much interest in your work..."

The academic waved her hand at the screen as if to indicate that what the Admiral wanted to know was simple elementary information which was below her station.

"Oh Admiral I'm sure the Commander here can deal with such matters. Everything is now correctly allocated and stowed safely so now I place myself in this young man's capable hands to deliver us to you!"

"Yes...well, okay then," replied Saalm with a small dose of fluster. The nonchalant nature of the doctor's demeanor seemed odd to the Orion, and yet the apparent eccentricity was a common trademark of Starfleet's brightest scientific minds. "I look forward to meeting with you soon. Commander Reyes," she then addressed, "we will hold our current position and await your arrival before proceeding."

Doctor Iroh was gently nudged out of the viewscreen by the youthful yet competent colony ship commander who resumed his conversation with Lirha. "Yes, of course. We will be underway shortly and maintain subspace communications with you along the way. Semmes out." Galileo's main viewer ended the transmission and the holographic viewscreen shimmered to its traditional drab, gray bulkhead display.
