Mission: Episode 12 - Recluse
Location: USS Galileo/Paulson Nebula
Timeline: MD 03 - 0105 hrs

Previously, on Remnants (Part 1)...

T'Lin set the course for the indicated call and sat back. "We are good then..." it was the last thing she said before disappearing in orangish light.

Eelim's eyes widened He knew what was going on. Before he could react he felt the pull of the transporter on himself. It took a mere few seconds for him to appear on the Klingon ship. As the transporter release him he launched himself at the Klingons, which proved not to be a good idea. One Cardassian against four Klingon Warriors was no fight at all. He felt every hit and every break in his bones, one, two, three ribs for sure.

He fought well but eventually they won and darkness claimed him.

And Now, the Continuation...

Pod B857/1

Rahl came back to consciousness and ached all over. He looked around. This definitely was not the ship. It looked like an escape pod. That couldn't be right. The last he remembered he had tried to shunt the flight line and numbers to the help for the slingshot maneuver. That was the last he could recall. He heard a transmission coming through from other escape pods. He raised an eyebrow.

Moving towards the window that's when his breath caught. He saw the Galileo. It was beaten battered and broken. A second later however he had to shield his eyes as the ship seemingly went up in a great fireball. Keeping his hand up to block the glare his eyes searched. He saw it...the Klingons were still there. Turning on the distress beacons or even breaking radio silence would give the Klingons there position. He had no want of being a prisoner of war. He shut off the comms in the escape pod and disabled the distress beacon. He tried timing the firing of his thrusters to be missed in the explosions still going on. He pointed the escape pod away from the whole thing trying to head out of the nebula.

Hopefully these were the same type of escape pods as those on the Odin had been. They had been capable of sublight travel for extended periods of time. If nothing else once he got clear of the nebula he could follow the path back that he had taken. Once a safe enough distance away he could reactivate the distress beacon. They were still in Federation space. He could alert them to the presence of the Klingons and mount a rescue.

Pod D047/2

It had been the orange glow beyond his eyelids that roused Wiggins. He didn't need to look to know it was the Galileo. He attempted to shift in his seat but sucked in air through his teeth in pain.

"Sir?" Ezra Koenig, the security crewman turned in his seat and fixed the XO with a look of concern.

Wiggins waved his hand, "I'll be fine." That was the last thing he remembered saying moments before he blacked out again without any more warning than a slow fading tunnel surrounding his vision.

Pod A125/3

"Do you think they'll have one of those complimentary bathrobes at the hospital ship we'll be sent to?" The wounded officer, Jacobs, asked.

"Jacobs...what?" Greg asked, robes being the last thing on his mind.

Suddenly a shimmer of orange light surrounded the group. The unmistakable sound of a transporter kicked in. And Greg realized immediately...it wasn't Federation.

"Whoa, whoa whoa, what the f...." Rivetti asked but was cut off by the transportation.

Pod B057/2

Mimi was stood up in the pod helping Min tend to Noah, whom she had pulled into the pod just before they took off when she heard the unmistakable whine of a transporter and felt herself being enveloped by the beam.

Min glanced at Mimi, seeing the young Nekomi vanish in a red transporter beam. That could mean only one thing. As the second beam grabbed Min, her only thought was of her daughter and some thankfulness she'd left Lian back on earth.

Pod B857/1

The pod had just made it clear of the nebula. Rahl had not wasted time and had routed communications through the distress beacon to be able to have enough power to send out a subspace message. Granted it was using the lower frequencies but if luck was with him then perhaps it would get to someone before the signal degraded enough to make it incomprehensible.

He engaged the drive on the pod pushing it back towards the direction they had come from. His idea was to follow the flight path back to where they had started. A shadow casting over the pod dimming the light from the stars however made him realize otherwise. A low growl came from his throat as the beam dematerialized him from the pod.

He found himself on the transporter pad in what he assumed was the Klingon vessel. He wasn't going down without a fight. He launched himself at the nearest one. He had fought Klingons before. They were good but they lacked the speed and enhanced strength of the Jem'Hadar that he had faced during the Dominion War. What Rahl didn't realize was the sheer number of them he faced....alone.

By the time he had taken two of them down five more entered the room and came at him at once. He was taken down and knocked unconscious. He was picked up and dragged off to one of the cells.

Escape Pod Pod B501/2

Splendora had made two runs, she'd saved her Bird and Tuula's tribble and something Eviess had asked her to save. She sat in her pod and watched in horror as the ship exploded.

Her mind began to work. She knew that the Klingon's would be taking prisoners. She thought quickly setting up water and food for her bird and had just finished when she felt the transporter beam's pull. She looked at Elithia, her pet and sent a feeling of calm. The bond between them was strong.

She watched the scene shift from the little escape pod to Klingons, She gasped as she saw Eviess on the ground by one of the Klingon's feet. She was unconscious.

Splendora moved towards her friend and felt a sharp pain in her skull as something hard made contact with it. Darkness overtook her.

IKS Neg JoK - Main Bridge

Aboard the Klingon Bird-of-Prey Neg JoK, the captain quickly commanded his small crew into action. The Federation vessel was a lost cause and there was nothing to be gained from it at this point, but sensor scans showed multiple escape pods floating aimlessly in the general vicinity.

"ChaH jon!" he yelled to his operations officer, then gave instructions to helm to approach and idle space coffins.

One by one, he began to beam the survivors of Galileo onto his ship and put them into the brig.

IKS Neg JoK - Transporter Room

The first batch of rescued crew members arrived and was promptly greeted by large, armored Klingon warriors. With disruptors trained on each new Federation arrival, they quickly took turns hauling the wounded and weak Starfleet officers to their feet before dragging them away into the B'Rel-class' small prison chambers.

The first they managed to get a lock on arrived on the pad in a shimmer of orange arrived on a small unmoving heap. Kohl, son of BaKh glanced at the Klingon operating the transporter who shrugged. He moved over and worked the toe of his boot under the ribs of the pink haired fleeter and flipped her over. She didn't respond, face pale, eyes closed. Hr pulled out his pain stick and touched it to her side. Her body jerked but she didn't scream. Only the feint rise of her chest gave away that she was still alive. Satisfied she wasn't dead yet, he grabbed her uniform and found it wet with blood. Unperturbed he hauled her slight body up onto his shoulder and headed for the brig

In the blink of an eye, the matter of the security team was beamed from the pod. They were transported through the blackness of space and into the nearby Klingon Bird-of-Pray. In an instant, the light faded and the group was dropped onto the pad. The group stood in awe as they looked around and then at once turned their heads slowly to the control panel. There were four officers standing with their hands on their disrupters, aimed right at the team.

Greg, with Jacobs' wound on his mind, reacted...in not really the smartest move. "Team, defend!" Greg ordered.

The three remaining officers formed a barrier between Jacobs and the Klingons and simultaneously raised their phasers. Before they could even get them to arms length, the Klingons drew theirs and fired. Three bursts hit the three men, sending them flying. Greg slammed into the rear wall, injuring his back again. Wilson landed to his right and Rivetti barely missed landing on Jacobs. Greg had no idea of knowing if the disruptors were set to stun or the Klingons had aimed on a non lethal area on purpose, but he was relieved to know he was alive.

His brain then thought to his men. He used all the strength he could to look at them. Wilson stirred and Rivetti laid for a minute before trying to sit back up. There was no time, however, as the Klingons stomped onto the pad, removed the phasers, and grabbed the men. Rivetti was hoisted by his leg and pulled off. Jacobs was grabbed and let out a yell as the Klingon latched onto his leg.

Greg lunged at Jacobs and attempted to grab him but a Klingon boot landed on his arm, pinning him to the floor. Greg let out a scream of pain as the Klingon reached down and picked him up by the neck to pull him away. Wilson was grabbed last, the Klingon lifting him up by his shirt and the four were dragged away.

Re-materialising onto the transporter pad of a clearly Klingon vessel, Mimi immediately noticed the three armed Klingons facing her, three of the species that murdered everyone she ever knew and left her for dead, orphaned and alone. She hissed sharply baring her teeth and pounced on the nearest Klingon, faster than a blur she was on him sinking her claws into the base of his neck as he fell to the ground with her on top.

The Klingon closest to the transport platform hadn't expected to have some cat like woman leap off the pad and attack him. Caught off balance, he crashed down to the deck, trying to fend off the crazed feline. He felt pain as her claws dug into his neck and he struggled to get her off him.

Mimi pulled her right hand claws from the Klingons neck and raked them across his face before she sunk her teeth into his neck. Blood burst from the viscous wound as Mimi tore out a huge chunk of flesh.

Min meanwhile had materialized on the platform and could only watch in shock as Mimi leaped from the pad and knocked down one of the guards. Min wasn't about to move given the disruptors trained on her but it took what felt like an eternity before one of the guards fired on Mimi, knocking her off the guard and dropping her to the ground like a sack of potatoes.

Noah collapsed to the deck as the beam released its grasp. He started to pick himself up - only to be shoved back down beside Min, the jolt shattering the aura of confusion and bringing his situation into focus.

The shot dazed Mimi and it took a couple of seconds before she regained her senses and looked up to see one of the Klingons kneeling on her chest pinning her down with his considerable bulk and pointing a pistol at her. Despite the pain from the wound in her hip she hissed and tried to claw at him, the Klingon leaned back out of the way of the swipe and slammed the but of the pistol into Mimi's face; knocking her out cold.

The standing guard laughed at the dead Klingon and muttered something in Klingon that roughly translated to 'stupid bastard' before ordering the man who'd beaten Mimi senseless to drag his body away. The man then faced Min and Noah, weapon drawn. "You two carry her. She tries that again you all die."

Min nodded and with help from Noah, lifted Mimi's unconscious form between them and dragged her out of the transport room, heading no doubt for a prison cell.
