Mission: Episode 12 - Recluse
Location: USS Galileo/Paulson Nebula
Timeline: MD 03 - 0008 hrs

Previously, on Panko Breadcrumbs (Part 3)...

Miraj ignored all the co-ordinates at the helm. There were too many ships in the way. She put full power to thrusters, and rolled and twisted around the oncoming Birds of Prey, slipping between them with only a fraction of a kilometer to spare, too fast for them to bring their weapons to bare, and then flipped the end around, and pushed her dirty fingers from the bottom of the speed control to the top.

Instead of the usual delighted hum from the engines, there was a half-choked whine. They were barely at quarter impulse. Miraj said something rude, and slammed her fist down on the helm, only to swear even more loudly as she reopened the shallow cuts there.

But Lieutenant Rahl had been right. If they could set course to the center of the nebula, if there was a star forming, if they didn't get sucked into the gravitational collapse, then they could indeed use it to sling shot out and increase their speed, maybe not to warp, but fast enough. Her fingers flew as they altered course, and Galileo limped down into depths of the nebula.

And Now, the Continuation...

Luke nodded as he went to the weapons locker which was located on the bridge and took out a phaser for himself and one for Wiggins. "We should get the phase rifles and start forward and make our way aft. Push them back out the ship" he suggested handing the phaser over.

“Lead the way,” Wiggins said as he checked the power cell on the phaser and adjusted the settings.

Ryan looked up and watched Wiggins and Wyatt grab phasers from the weapons locker, a part of him yearned to follow them, the Marine in him wanting to run towards the sound of action. But he knew where his post was, even if it hurt to stay. He returned back to his PADD, reaching in and connecting inputs to the auxiliary data feeds.

Allyndra worked on others, it was nothing more then a quick patch in spots but as the warning came she stood. "Admiral, Commander, with permission, I have authorized neurozine gas flooding. Also, I have Nehret hypos in medical packs. Give them a nasty surprise back and it is both fatal and spreadable. Bargain at least."

Lirha's eyes went wide. "You did what?" The Khitomer Accords had outlawed the use of chemical and biological weapons over a century ago. Despite the damage to her vessel, she refused to engage in unethical warfare...the Klingons had done just that to her own people and she had vowed many years ago to never succumb to that level of violence. "Belay that order! We are still Starfleet officers and we will not answer for those war crimes!"

Allyndra looked hard at the Admiral and waved a hand at the injured. "I seriously doubt they are playing by the same rules Admiral. However, so be it." =^=Use of Nehert hypos is now forbidden=^=

She tossed her long hair back which had come loose in the run and getting though the door. "If it is still working I still request the use of the Neurozine gas. It is reversable and standard intruder repellent."

Lirha wanted to bang her fists into something solid and take out her internal anger upon the most convenient object. It took all of her self-constraining willpower to keep her focused on the task at hand and to keep herself from feeling overwhelmed. The CMO's new suggestion slowly registered and she processed the request as quickly as she was able to.

"Very well! Do it," she approved.

"Computer flood Decks 4 through 7 with Neurozine gas."

[Unable to comply, systems off line]

Mimi looked back from her console; one of the few that was still working and intact, she had an idea. "Captain I think I can get the shields back up."

Amidst the hail of noise and chaos on the bridge, Lirha could barely hear the Operations officer's voice. "You can do what?" she asked in a half-yell. Something about shield restoration she thought she'd heard.

"We have portable power generators in storage." Mimi replied trying to raise her normally quiet voice over the barrage of noises coming from the bridge. "I can put them straight into the shield generators, they won't last very long but it might help a little."

USS Galileo - Below Decks

It wasn't long until Luke was in combat aboard the Galileo. On his way to the arms locker and the locations of the most heavily populated Klingon raiding parties. From his position behind a piece of burnt panelling he could hear the disrupted rounds that were intended for him bounce of the metallic surface. Poking his head up he let off his own steady blast of fire hitting and disabling two Klingons. They were clumsey and the small ship made them easy targets. =^=All security personnel, main effort is to protect engineering, sick bay and bridge, combat teams are moving from forward to aft so help is on the way.=^=

Amaranai had been off duty originally but when the Red Alert commenced, she grabbed her phaser and started to make her way to the Security office. She was almost there when the notification came that there were intruders. She continued and as she turned toward the Security office, she saw several Klingons in the hallway. They saw her and started firing but Amaranai ducked back in time. She turned and started running for the next intersection so she could get some cover. She pulled her phaser and started to fire at the Klingons, keeping them back. This was not going to be easy as it was only her versus a group of five Klingons. She had heard that reinforcements were coming but she had to hold herself until they could come.

T'Lin made her way along deck 3 from the science labs. She spotted a couple of intruders but their backs were to her when they materialized. She had learned in Temple to be as quiet as the whisper of dust on a Vulcan morning and she quickly got to them. They turned at the last second but she put them both down quickly. A third Klingon materialized and seeing the Vulcan and two compatriots down he snarled. He dropped his disrupter rifle on its sling and instead pulled a blade.

"So much nicer to feel a blade in the ribs of an enemy." He advanced. He closed the distance and made a thrust which T'Lin shied away from to the side and the lessons of decades of teaching kicked in and she made a quick motion and the man dropped with eyes glazing over. Tal-shaya was only taught in Temple and only used in the most extreme cases. T'Lin decided that it was logical to conclude being attacked by a knife wielding Klingon constituted a logical reason for its use. She moved on but did fetch a weapon off one of the fallen intruders.

Eviess had just finished treating a young officer. She looked up and watched as sparkles began to form just a few steps from her. She knew what that meant. Boarding party! Thanking her lucky stars that, out of respect for her father and because of her promise to him, she kept her dagger on her, she now grabbed for the d'k tahg dagger that she kept in her boot. She pressed the little button on the side that released the secondary side blades just as the Klingon materialized. She would have struck too if it hadn’t been for the one that materialized behind her. She felt his arm coil around hers and she was lifted from her crouch position to her feet. Without even thinking she swung the arm with the blade. It found its home in the Klingon’s neck. A sickening gurgle could be heard. Eviess broke free of his hold dropped to the floor and rolled towards the one that had materialized in front of her. Dagger still in hand she drove it through the man’s ankle. He howled in pain. The second it took for that she recovered to her feet and again dispatched the man to Gre'Thor, the Klingon version of hell.

Eviess was breathing hard by the time it was over but not because she was winded. Memories came flooding back, images, memories that had been locked away for years, ones that nobody knew. She stood trying to shake them off and then noted the Vulcan she’d met earlier. She focused on the other woman wiping the sweat off her brow as she watched T’Lin drop the Klingon. “You have to teach me that sometime.” She said.

"It would appear that you have done rather well," T'Lin nodded a chin toward the fallen Klingons. "Still perhaps another time, continue your efforts doctor. I believe this area is currently secure." She thought a moment and then went to one of them and handed Eviess a disruptor. "Might as well keep this handy for now. I am going to check for other intruders."

She took the disruptor. "I need your assistance. There are many injured and we are not far from an empty room. Can you help me move the wounded there? I'm hoping that they will be safer there."

"That would be a logical deduction," T'Lin said and then lifted the nearest crewman. Vulcan women had the equivalent strength of most human males and Temple training, one could draw upon extra strength at need but would pay for it later. "Keep watch and attend. I shall move the injured." She then made her way to the indicated room. She quickly put the injured man down and then returned for the others until she was at the last one.

"The door appears capable of still working properly, I suggest doctor that you seal it," T'Lin told Eviess.

Eviess was about to say something but the arrival of a new crew member stopped her.

Luke felt like every Klingon in the empire was boarding the small science vessel, down every corridor there was fighting or signs of fights already won or lost as bodies of both friend and foe littered the floor and the injured limped defencelessly in every direction. "By the gods, Ares give me strength" he prayed as he made his along deck 3 now after dispatching two Klingons with the help of my well armed security personnel where he got his Phase Rifle and K-Bar the Marine standard issued blade. Seeing two officer struggling in the distance he jogged up to them, neither of them he had spoken to before "How can I help?" He asked.

Eviess gave a nod at the man. "Yes. I have to go and tend to more wounded. That room there," She pointed to the left. "It has wounded in there. If you and T'Lin would stay and keep them safe I'll head to see to more wounded.

"Doctor, that would be most illogical. We both have more training in dealing with the intruders and can make sweeps. Your duty would be to tend to the wounded. All of us have sufficient emergency medical knowledge and if anything to severe we can inform you or make arrangements." T'Lin thought a moment more.

"I shall make a sweep to the right and then return, while you guard the doctor. We shall then exchange duties, doctor you need to tend then patients."

Luke nodded "Good, well use this as an emergency triage center. I'll redirect security personnel here once they arrive I must leave and lead the other teams who are driving the Klingons out of the ship." He looked to the teo woman "You're both doing great jobs"

Eviess gave a nod.

Eelim had been on patrol when he rounded the corner and ran into Luke, the Klingon doctor and the science officer, T'Lin, if he had her name right. "Everyone okay?"

"No, we have several injured that the doctor is tending to. I was about to make a sweep to the right while Wyatt guarded. However, now that you are here. I shall remain guard for the doctor and patients and you two can back each other. It would be logical for a team sweep rather than individual now that the situation has changed with your arrival."

Eelim gave a nod. "Agreed."

Turbo Lift

Splendora sat on the ground and wiped the blood from her forehead. They were stuck. She looked over at Ensign Baker. "Are you alright?"

The ensign smiled. "Yes. I..." Her face scrunched up. "OW!"

Splendora's head jerked. "What's wrong?"

Baker looked at her. "I....my water broke!"

"What?!"

Splendora hit the coms. "Nightingale to medical I'm stuck in a turbo lift with a woman in labour. HELP!" She was not going to deliver this baby.

There was no response. "Damn!" She looked around. "We have to get out of here. Baker you're going to need to climb."

Main Bridge - Science Station

Ryan had been trying to repair the damaged science alcove in order to provide the bridge with more terminals. He felt useless at the moment. He noticed an alert message pop up on his PADD. The turbolift was damaged, and there were crewman inside. He turned his attention to the repair s he had been making, and focused back on his PADD. Getting up he quickly moved to the Turblift, and popped the maintenance panel. He plugged in his PADD and ran a quick system diagnostic. "Crap, main power to the lift has been cut, and the E-Brakes engaged. HE said to himself. He whipped his face, smearing the lasts remnant of blood from his face. He reached into the panel and removed some of the control chips. "Yes." He said to himself, the chips themselves were still operational, it was just the main circuitry that was damaged. "Just a quick reroute, and I can get it to dump them out here." He said, as he quickly replaced the chips, resetting the turbolift to its default setting, at the bridge. He smiled to himself, as the lift started to move. At least he helped two people today.

Splendora was grateful and thanked Ryan. She also left the pregnant woman with him and headed back to deck three to see if she could be of more help.

Deck 3, Armory

Rayze ducked to the side as the Klingon's bat'leth whistled through the air and hit the ground hard with a loud clang where he'd been standing just a moment before. The Risian threw a solid fist into the Klingon's jaw, hard enough to make him stumble back, but not good enough to put him down. The follow-up blast from his phaser, set to heavy stun, did the trick though as the focused nadion pulse sent waves of energy through the Klingon's armour. The boarder twitched as he went down, joining a group of his compatriots on a pile that was slowly building up.

The doors to the armory stood open behind Rayze, where their precious weapons supply was slowly being passed out to what crewmembers could reach them. Phasers and knives only, he'd given orders to keep any heavy munitions on lockdown, since they didn't need to help the Klingons in damaging the Galileo more than she already was. He tossed his Type II to a blue-collared woman as she ran up once the Klingon was dispatched, and turned back inside to get another weapon before more arrived. There seemed to be no end to them, at least not yet.

Greg had been in the middle of creating his daily personal log when the alert went out. He hadn't even had the time to shut off his music. The ship rattled and he stumbled into the wall of the corridor. Regaining his footing, he ran into the armory.

"What the hell happened? I was gone for maybe an hour." Greg yelled as he held out his hand for a firearm.

"I was hoping you could tell me," Rayze said, the usual traces of his humour completely absent for once. His face was serious, hard, and with his hair disheveled and bright, maroon blood splattering his uniform in places, the Risian almost looked like a different man than the happy guy that had joined the crew recently. He snagged another Type II off the rack and tossed it to Greg, and sent an extra energy pack arching through the air after it for good measure. "I was asleep when the red alert started. Imagine my surprise when I found Klingons trying to break into the armoury."

I was off duty as well. I was in my quarters and when the intruder alarm sounded, I headed here."

Greg took the phaser and looked at the Lieutenant. "It's an intruder alert sir. With Klingons. What do you want me to do with this? Shove it up their ass?" He holstered the weapon. "Why aren't the big things being handed out?

"If you have any personal melee weapons, you're authorised to use them," Rayze informed the others. "Klingons prefer hand to hand over shooting an opponent any day. But I'm not going to have us blowing holes in the ship with grenades or an isomagnetic disintegrator."

"Un-friggen-believable." Greg mumbled.

Petty Officer Wilson ran in behind him, dazed. "What's going on?" He asked.

"Intruder alert, genius. I'll fill you in on the way." He took another phaser and handed it to him. "Get everyone together. We're heading to intercept."

"Stay in touch," Rayze ordered. "Once we get enough of the crew armed I'll see about meeting up with the force securing Engineering. It should go without saying, but watch each other's backs."

"Aye Lieutenant." Greg said. As he turned around, he saw Wilson return with a small squad of security officers. "Wilson, you're behind me. Rivetti, you're in the back. The rest of you fall in. These are Klingons we're dealing with so set phasers to setting eight. Don't worry about prisoners, because they most likely aren't even going to attempt to surrender. Let's go!"

The officers nodded and followed Mitchell out the door.

It was fortunate Rayze hadn't heard the order for the weapon's setting, as he'd ducked back inside the armory once more to unlock another cabinet to arm another group of officers who came running. Fortunate, for the moment at least, but maybe not for later because there was going to be hell to pay for it...if they made it out of this alive of course.
