Timeline: MD -27, 18:00 hours

ON:

Luke had walked past the door to Crewman Vispania's quarters several times now and had already received wary looks from passing crewman. He to was worried that he was going to ware the deck straight through to Deck 5. Stopping at the end of the corridor he sieved through his mind what he was going to say but everything he could think of sounded off or forced. Damn Aria for making him dance and drink that night with her and damn Aria for making him enjoy it. Sucking in a deep breath he finally walked to the door and pressed the chime already thinking about running.

The door opened seconds later, but there was no one there to the naked eye. Against the wall, on the same side as the door, with a vase in her hands stood Nia...but the moment she saw the uniform she lowered the vase, lifting her chin slightly. "She's not here, she's on duty," the half-Cardassian said and moved to place the vase down. She looked at Wyatt, her eyes slightly narrowed as she moved, taking him in.

Luke looked to the young girl he had never seen her before but then again he hadn't seen half of the ships crew so it was no surprise, what was was that she was a Cardassian or at least half Cardassian. Luke remember something Corealine had said and smiled this was her daughter. "Oh" He finally managed, "Do you know when she might be back?" He asked not wanting to disturb her at work.

"When she is done with her shift," she said, looking at him as if he was insane. She then seemed to remember her manners, folded her hands and bowed her head in greeting, her hands moving together. "But it might be sooner than later. Sit and I can get you something to drink, she would never forgive me turning a guest away."

About to reject the offer he stayed his tongue and moved into the room the door closing behind him. He felt like he was intruding, what if she didn't even remember him they had both been drinking and... this was so wrong and he shouldn't have been here with Lena's daughter but how could he say no to her politeness. "Thank you very much" He said taking a seat.

She nodded at that and walked to the large, covered jug. She Uncovered it and poured two glasses, covering the jug again before carrying it over. "It's...juice. My mother enjoys making things, she made this before she came here..." she said and offered him one of the glasses, watching him closely.

Taking the glass Luke eyed the content and then back to the young girl before smiling and raising the glass to his mouth. Taking a sniff he pressed his lips to the glass and sipped. The liquid ran down his throat leaving a warming sensation before leaving a yearning after taste to drink. "It's really something!" He sad before taking another "So what's your name young one?"

"Scribonia...." Nia said as she sat down, sipping her own drink before reaching to pull her hood up over her hair, softening the Cardassian features she had as well. "But...most here call me Nia. Scribonia sounds really difficult from some people, you know? Nia works...easier. Like...Mother is a Lina. Rather than Corealina."

He nodded "I think I like Scribonia and Corealina" Luke liked the way he could make them roll of his tongue despite him having to practice saying Corealina an hour before coming here. "I'm Luke and well most just call me Luke" He chuckled.

Nia watched him for a moment, considering the name. "Luke. Human, clearly..." she leant closer, watching him for a moment. "Eyes not dark enough for Betazoid."

"I look like a betazoid?" He said finding it amusing "I wish I was maybe I could understand what people were thinking better it would help me out a lot" He said thinking over the though drinking "And you, you're cardasian... Human perhaps?" He questioned.

"I am what I am," she said and shrugged, looking down. "You don't particular look like one, but Betazoids look like humans. Your ears are different from Vulcans and Romulans...and besides, your...haircut is different. Nose not Bajoran and you don't have trill markings...so given the percentage of humans in Starfleet, there's a good chance you are one." She sipped her drink, not looking at him. "And yes, I'm half Cardassian."

"You're a very perceptive young lady" He said stroking his short cut marine like hair "I used to be a Marine, I cut my hair short and like it so. Most people in starfleet allow themselves to indulge in hair styles I've never seen the fascination" He commented defensively he was happy he didn't have ear anything like a Vulcans.

"You fight in the war?" she asked before finally glancing at him. "Don't worry I...know I am a Cardassian, but I'm not...really. I don't remember."

He nodded sipping his drink and placed it into his lap was he really about to talk about the war now, here with her. Yes. "I did fight in the war" he stomached. "I am not like most who fought during that time I dont have a prejudice against you or your... the Cardassians they were soldiers fighting for a cause as we were fighting for ours.... The victors write the history books" He finished with a well know quote.

She nodded, weakly, watching him. "It doesn't really matter," she finally said. "I am used to the looks. Just making sure you know it before you...romance my mother," she said bluntly and stood, hesitating. "Are you hungry?"

Luke was going to say something in defence but she was clever and very observant and he had it written all over his face, or so he imagined. "Yes I a actually" He said smiling "And thankyou... for the warning but dont worry the only thing I dont like are Tribble's and Caves"

"I don't have any caves..." Nia said and smiled, warming to him. "What do you eat? I have...I have bread. There is bread. And things on bread. I...the replicator isn't working properly, but mother says we will survive without it for a bit until the ship is better."

"Thankgod!" He smiled as a chuckle left his breath "Do you have anything to go on the bread?" He asked he couldn't help but be so amused by the innocence Scribonia radiated "I wont be long now until the Ship is up and running again" He injected.

"We have..." she made a face and moved to the basket, searching through it. "Oh! Dried meat! And...honey! And...some...blue...berry...thingy...chocolate...." she started taking them out, to show him as if he would know what each thing was. "Cheese!"

Watching as Scribonia as she produced each item meat, honey, blueberries, chocolate and cheese. "Some honey would be nice thank you" he requested, Luke had always liked honey.

She gave a quick nod, moving to open the jar. She didn't even notice the door sliding open and her mother stepping in, so engrossed in what she was doing. Lina however stopped, looking at the scene before smiling bowing her head respectfully to Luke. "I did not expect to find you here. I...take it my daughter is taking care of you?"

Luke caught of guard by Corealina's entrance jumped up and stumbled forward. "Hi. Urm - Yeah sorry I came by to speak to you actually and your daughter here said to stay and wait. She's been the most pleasant of host's a clear showing of great motherhood" He complimented wondering how awkward this now felt.

Lina smiled gently, moving to him and touching his arm, holding his eyes. "Good..." she said before looking at Nia. "I will finish this...you go to your room," she told the girl, but with a gentle smile.

Nia stood quickly, nodding before meeting Luke's eyes. "It was nice to meet you. I will see you again."

Giving a nod to the young girl and smiling "You to, it was nice meeting you!" He turned to Lina "Sorry for invading your privacy but I wanted to come by" he shrugged nervously her hand feeling warm on his arm.

Lina watched him closely before smiling, bowing her head. "No, you are more than welcome to my home," she said and moved to get the bread and honey, placing it down for him. "How are you, Luke?"

Not wanting to indulge in the sand which to quickly he looked to her and smiled before answer her question "Good now that we have finally resolved the issue with the mines. And yourself Corealina?"

She watched him closely, taking a seat and folding her hands in her lap, bowing her head. "Oh, I am well. Very well, especially with your...company, however unexpected it is. Perhaps you will permit me a little time to change from the uniform?"

That made him smile, the fact she found his company well... well he found himself relax. "Sure, I'll be right here" He said pointing to the sandwich "Thanks" He said again and holding her eyes. She was beautiful.

Lina stood, her eyes gentle yet clearly studying him as she tilted her head. "More than welcome. A man should remain well fed...for his mood," she said playfully before retreating to change clothes.

Once again she had managed to make him smile before she moved away and disappeared into what he guessed was her bedroom. Taking a moment he eyes the honey sandwich before picking it up and eating it. Delicious.
