Reclining back against the biobed behind her, Pola's forehead furrowed as she read the data on the PADD in her hand. She had called this meeting with the intent that it be a duel briefing between medical and counselling but it seems that the surprise was on her after a recent reshuffle with the structure of the counselling department.

Chewing on her thumbnail for a moment, she ended up smiling as she figured CoC knew what they were doing and the eventuality was that it would all turn out to be ok.

"Hello," Scarlet Blake smiled to the doctor as she moved in, making her way over to rest back against the same biobed as Pola. "You know, I have to say, it's really nice to be back in here without the emergency red lights flashing and with full, working gravity," she opened with, smiling almost playfully to her, breaking the ice on the first meeting she was going to be in her new position with.

Shifting over to give the woman a little more room, Pola grinned as she held out a PADD which the woman could look over before anyone else arrived. "I quite like having my feet on the ground also now that you say it. As much as I love swimming, I prefer to try keeping it to water."

Shifting her body slightly, Pola looked over the woman for a moment. "You gonna be ok with this? You've been thrown in a little at the deep end with this given you weren't involved with the briefing."

Scarlet cast her eyes over the padd, skim reading for a moment or two before looking back across to her with a small smile. "I'll need to play catch up. But I'm willing and able," she assured, touching the corner of the padd to her forehead in a slight salute.

"I'll open the meeting, rehash some of what has been gone over and then hand the floor over to you. You ok with that? Or would you prefer to open and introduce the change in the chief counselling position?" Pola kept her casual stance against her biobed as she watched the woman beside her carefully.

"No, your first idea sounds good," Scarlet assured her with a warm smile. "They know you far better at the moment, and you know far more about the upcoming mission. I'd rather not distract from the mission brief to start."

Nodding her head at that, Pola turned her body as the opening doors indicated the arrival of the first staff member. There could be more time for conversation later but right now they had to focus on the distribution of information to the staff.

Dawn hummed to herself as she drifted into sickbay, concentrating more on the mint milkshake in her hand than anything else. She absently made her way to a nearby biobed and hopped up onto it. After taking a big sip of milkshake, she looked around, her big grey eyes looking as if she were seeing the room for the first time. "Hello," she said brightly.

Nurse Sandywyne drifted into the bay like the grim rain cloud she was. Taking account of who was already there she leaned against the wall and crossed her arms. Not announcing herself but giving a wiry smile to anyone that looked her way.

Ensign Varek arrived and gave a nod towards the chiefs. "Doctor, counselor," he acknowledged before going to stand beside Nurse Sandywyne as she seemed least likely to engage in small talk with him.

Delainey entered, her mind still trying to absorb the recent news from Starfleet Medical. She felt a mix of emotions, including some sadness and a lots of excitement. "Hi all."

Scarlet looked to Delainey as she entered the room, offering her a gentle smile of support. She didn't know the details of the change around, but she knew Delainey was a good counsellor, so there were only limited possibilities.

Jessica entered the room and waited for the beginning of the briefing. It was her first formal briefing for a Starfleet-mandated mission and didn't know what to expect, but was looking forward to it none the less.

Entering the sickbay, Eda moved to seat herself in a corner from where she could observe the happenings around her.

The Bajoran who entered last was in the red-orange robes of a prylar with the Starfleet badge and pips attached to it. Bo was off duty and new to the group, but he did note the sense of warmth and anticipation inherent in the room. Mostly women. That would be an interesting change.

Looking around, Pola smiled as she found that everyone was present that should be, all but one. "Computer, please activate the EMH."

With a buzz of photons and forcefields, the holographic doctor materialised in amongst his peers. According to his internal chronometer program it had been a rather substantial length of tiem since he had last been activated, which would hopefully indicate that there had been little in the way of a medical emergency since his last activation.

"Please state the nature of the medical emergency."

As she looked at the hologram, Pola indicated for him to join the ground. "Although you are not flesh and bones, I would welcome you presence with your fellow peers EMH. You are a member of this team and as such should be learning whom the people are that you will work with though face to face interaction, not just through reading their files."

"I'm a doctor not a journalist...however...there is a certain degree of...logic to your words. Very well, it will be an interesting observational experience for me to witness organics sharing information."

Turning her body to face the assembled crew, Pola smiled at each as she ensured that she didn't block out Lieutenant Blake at her side. "Ok guys. Well I guess you've all figured by now why we are gathered here. As of 1300 hours myself and the rest of the senior staff were briefed about our upcoming mission. Myself and Lieutenant Blake are going to update you on the relevant parts."

Moving off of the biobed, Pola picked up a pile of PADDs at her side as she started to distribute them amongst the gathered crew. "Starfleet has dispatched us to an area of the Beta Quadrant which contains a diverse solar system with six planets and multiple satellites." Pola was repeating many of the words their Captain had used but due to the science nature of the mission, alot of it went over her head.

"Due to the close proximity to both Borg and Romulan space, the Federation also assigned the USS Venture as both a guide and protection of sorts. The galaxy ship's crew have been charting this area of space for sometime now and have picked up a number of points of interest which we are to concentrate primarily on." Looking over her shoulder, Pola smiled slightly at Scarlet in order to offer that she took over at this point.
