Mission: Episode 02 - Resupply
Location: USS Galileo - Security Office
Timeline: MD 03 - 1800 hours

ON:

Ens. Rhodes and CWO Kiwosk would into the security office. Rhodes saw that the door to the chief's office was closed. He asked a CPO in charge, "Is the Chief available?"

"Uh, nope," Chief Grissom looked up and eyeballed the pair. Leveling his eyes at Rhodes, he straightened up and angled his feet together to show his respect. He then jerked a thumb absently towards the office door. "Haven't heard from him in a few hours. Which is kind of a pain in the rump given the paperwork I have waiting for him after today's haul."

Kiwosk simply nodded. His arms crossed across his broad chest. "Odd, I was talking to him this morning. Maybe he stepped out?"

Grissom shrugged absently. "It beats me, Sir. I'm willing to bet he's off visiting the departments. Been a busy afternoon down here for us and he seems the workshy type - if you'll pardon the observation."

Cyrus stood silent behind Rhodes as he and the CPO conversed. He was thinking about seeing if the armory was stocking up nicely and maybe popping a few shots off with some of the recruits. It always made things better when he felt useful. He crossed his arms and furrowed his brow, as the CPO stated his opinion.

"Thank you Petty Officer." Rhodes said to Grissom. Turning to Kiwosk, "I know how to handle this." Tilting he head slight as if looking to the ceiling, "Computer locate Lt. Parker."

"Lieutenant Parker is on deck four, section two alpha."

"Smart." Kiwosk grunted. "Wonder where he went in such a hurry as to leave the work for the rest of us." He wondered aloud.

Rice frowned as she walked in, her eyes gentle as she watched the men. "On the plus side, every phaser we have has been charged and is looking absolutely beautiful. Oh the joys of the armory..."

Theron turned to Aria and smiled. He knew exactly how laborous that task can be. "I see you made in time as well."

Aria nodded as she watched him, moving to the replicator to get some coffee. "Barely. I was getting suicidal towards the end of it. Or desperate for a drink..." she smiled warmly, her eyes shining.

Cyrus chuckled. "I hear you. Nothing is fun about phaser charging or armor polishing." He rolled his shoulder and smirked. "You want to play find the Lieutenant with the rest of us? Apparently it's the latest craze."

"Sometimes, I wonder about some officers," she said and chuckled softly. "Can't we just track him via his com badge?"

The office doors to the rear parted, revealing their security chief. Parker stopped as he crossed the threshold and looked genuinely surprised to see the gaggle of staff on duty. He glanced at the chronometer and back towards the group. "It's the swing shift, what are you all doing here?"

Cyrus blinked twice. He has to be kidding right...he's supposed to have the rosters. "Sir, we all work Beta shift." He said slowly. "We were looking for you to report back from the loading." He gestured to Rhodes and himself.

Scratching his head, their new department chief sighed and nodded slowly, seemingly understanding now. "Yeah, yeah, sorry. I've been all over the ship just dealing with people. It's been a hell of a day. I really could use an admin break. Everything down south is going smoothly, though, as expected. There's nothing complex and the guys from Ops really have a handle on the situation."

Parker pushed through the small group, aware that they were watching him with some intensity, and made for the work desk in the centre of the room, where he promptly flopped into the chair. There was an awkward silence, a pause as he surveyed the area and then turned his attention expectantly back towards them.

"Do you have anything else you need done sir? " Cyrus asked his arms folded comfortably across his broad chest.

"I don't know," Scott gave a light shrug, "depends what's already been done. What did you guys cover during your shift?"

Theron felt a little frustrated and handed his PADD with the completed inventory and loading manifest to Parker.

Cyrus glanced at Theron as he handed over the PADD to Parker and held back a yawn. "Well, Ensign Rhodes and I stocked up the ships inventory for the day. We got our weapons shipments and torpedoes for the most part." He sighed. "Other than that, I don't know of anything else we need doing, other than the repairs, and that's engineering and science for the most part." Kiwosk leaned up against on of the desks and cleared his throat. "Boss Lady, over there..." He gestured to Rice. "She just finished charging phasers sooo..." He let the thought hang in the air for a moment.

Gazing at the tablet, skimming over the supply data, Scott quirked an eyebrow and took a moment to ingest the basics before he, too, looked up at the female amongst them. "Ship's battery? Or the firearms?"

"Firearms," she said and looked at him, giving a small shrug as she considered it for a moment. "Ship's battery is too much for one person to deal with it."

Cyrus chuckled. "Bah, little elbow grease and a hamster wheel and you can get that running, Miss Rice."

She laughed warmly as she arched an eyebrow. "Only if you lifted me up...can't reach the buttons," she winked, her hand on her hip.

Cyrus grinned and held up one meat cleaver of a hand. "You? One hand. Easy "

Ens. Rhodes was really looking forward to his shore leave. He hoped that whatever He decided, that it did not conflict or delay his time away.

Aria smiled to Cyrus and nodded, her eyes shining. "Point. Score. Can't top that..." she glanced over at Parker, watching him. "So...shift over, we can go now?"

Parker huffed out a sigh. He was aware that there was a promotion ceremony due in the morning, that both Rice and Rhodes were due an extra pip. There was work to be done, but it was work that he and any idle staffers could handle. The bulk had been covered by the three in front of him. There was no reason to keep anybody hanging around.

"Sure," he said, gesturing towards the door, turning back towards the computer screen at the central desk. "Go relax, take a load off. I'll catch up with you guys during the week if you're still planet-side."

Cyrus clapped his hands together and smiled wide. "Well that's my kind of shift. Don't mind me, I'm going to grab a nap of sorts and supper...maybe sleep it, not sure....I'll let you all know." He gave a two fingered salute to his colleagues and made for the door.

Theron was glad to hear that they were dismissed. He glanced to Rice with eyes wide and glancing toward the door.

Rice smiled gently as she looked at Theron, shrugging gently. "Come on then..."

Then, Rhodes realized something and rolled his eyes, "I still have to check the security team on duty to make sure all stations are covered." He glanced over to Lt. Parker. "I will check on that Sir and send you a message."

"Sure," said Parker, repeating himself. He seemed unconcerned, almost as if the team had already left. It was evident to the others that he was pulling a full day, which made sense since he had only been aboard for less than that day.

Just before Cyrus left through the door, he swung around and looked over to Rhodes. "If you want, I could just stick around with the security team until Beta ends, I mean we got what three hours left? You two have to get your beauty sleeps anyways." pointing to Rice and Theron.

Theron smiled, "Funny guy. No, this should not take too long. I can catch up with you later at the mess hall or something."

Cyrus shrugged. "Alright, consider my offer null and void then. Time to eat-sleep." He disappeared around the corner.

"I'll do that too," Aria said and smiled gently. "Sir...Sir..." she nodded to Theron and Parker before leaving.

Theron watched her go then turned back to the Chief. "I will go now and check on the current security team in place about the ship. I will let you know their status."

Parker surprised him by glancing up. "You know what, Ensign, you've got a big day tomorrow. Let me take care of it. There's not much to be done and I could use the chance to get around the ship. Go, relax and take it easy, huh?"

Rhodes turned back to his new Senior Officer and taking a step back toward the desk. "Well . . If you are sure. . ." He set the PADD down hesitantly. Standing with confidence, but not sure of the Lieutenant's motives, he smiled pleasently. "Thank you Sir." and turned and walked out of the office.

Parker grimaced, almost smiling, as Rhodes left. He could sense the apprehension and the unease with him, as if he didn't quite fit in. Scott was dumb, he knew that he had a more open approach to things and that he could seem wayward at times. He just wondered how he was going to bring his team round to his way of thinking. There was time after shoreleave but these old procedures would be difficult to break. He wondered if it might be wise to re-structure their working day, mix everything up slightly and assign tasks. Turning back to the logs on the computer, he left the thought aside for the time being.
