Mission: Episode 18 - Cold Station 31
Location: USS Galileo-A - Deck 3, Brig
Timeline: MD 12, 1120hrs

Languishing in the brig; a place she never expected to ever find herself in Mimi was starting to realize why prison wasn't the most ideal place to be. She was bored stiff.

She'd already counted the number of rivets on the wall, figured out where the hidden monitoring devices were and learned the pattern of pitch and tempo changes of the forcefield as it cycled. And she'd barely been in there a few days.

"Petty officer Stark." Mimi called out, even though the brig on the Galileo was tiny she couldn't see him from inside but could certainly still smell him.

Gabriel strolled over into her limited view, an apple in one hand and a Padd in another. "Honestly, I think we've got to the point where you can call me Gabriel," he assured, and there was even a ghost of a smile on his lips despite the very, very long week he was having.

"Maybe but I wanted to start this off nicely." Mimi replied. "Am I allowed to have a Padd in here?" She then asked. "I am bored, thought I might write a personal log or something like that."

Gabriel let out a soft breath as he leant against the outer side of the brig opening, crossing his ankles. "Well, that depends on whether you're going to mount a breakout attempt with it?" he said with a soft sigh.

Mimi let out a slight chuckle regretting it straight away as her still healing wound ached. "Disable its mainframe link if you think you need to but I have no plans on breaking out of here, it is quite an experience being in here."

"Fair enough," Gabriel pushed himself away from the wall with his hip, moving over to the desk. With good behaviour, personnel were allowed access to a padd to record logs, although it was locked to make sure that was the limit of its use. He found the clean padd out, opening up a small hole in the forcefield to offer it over. "You can record logs on there, but it's not connected with the ship's computer, so it won't sync with your personal logs until you leave."

Getting up from what counted for a bed in her cell Mimi took the Padd "Thank you, Gabriel." She said returning to the bed and sitting down.

"No worries," he said quietly, watching her with a weak smile. This part was really difficult. Seeing someone 'locked up'. He knew far too well what that felt like. "I'm going to figure this out," he said quietly, his eyes serious and lacking the usual sparkle of amusement. "Just...hang on."

"I will." Mimi said, set the Padd to accept both vocal and written entries then lay back on the bed. "Well I am in the brig," She began. "Not a place I ever thought I would be but it is an interesting experience so far."

Gabriel watched her for a long moment before giving a weak, half smile. He slid his hand into his pocket and moved away from the cell to give her a bit of privacy as he went back to his work.

"I am in here because the butcher of Kemi is dead. It is complicated but while I wish it was me who killed him, I did not. We fought each other but he died while we were both in sickbay after the fight, someone stabbed him in the chest with a klingon knife." Mimi continued. "Of course they think I did it because I have... motive."

Gabriel gave a weak, unfeeling smile at the words he couldn't help but hear, shaking his head as he tapped at his own padd. Motive she may have, but opportunity was just as important in a murder case, and her lack of it was his biggest reason not to believe it.

Mimi let out a mild sigh. "I was sedated the whole time though and I have never.... 'sleep walked' I think they call it. I only woke up when I heard him calling out in anger at me, even then I could not really do anything."

Gabriel glanced towards the cell at that, his lips pursed in thought as he tapped his padd lightly against his hand. When looking at the burden of proof, the medical evidence provided plenty of doubt. He worried though, that the lack of an alternate suspect would result in a flawed view of the evidence. Sometimes the only suspect, despite holes in the evidence, ended up being preferable to no suspect.

"Hopefully I will not be on here too long though, I heard Ensign Turell's voice earlier so the away team must be back, so Allyndra must be back too. If anyone can find the evidence that shows I did not do it, it is her. And Petty officer Stark or course." She said the last bit slightly louder on purpose knowing he could hear her.

Stark chuckled softly at that, drifting over to watch her as he leant against the back of the chair, crossing his ankles. "Did I make the cut?" he teased with a small smile.

Mimi paused her recording. "I just hope you can find out who killed him, something was in the room with us, I know that for sure."

Gabriel pursed his lips as he nodded, glancing down. Because he couldn't discuss it with her, but he was pretty convinced of that himself. He remained silent on the matter though, motioning to the padd. "Let me know when you're done, I'll need to take it back."

"I will, I think I am almost done." Mimi looked back down and the Padd and quietly tapped out the last of her log. 'I miss John and hope he will be waiting for me when I get out.' she let out a slight sigh and saved the recording. "Thank you for letting me do that."

"No problem," he assured quietly, taking the Padd back through the gap in the forcefield. He sealed it up, shrugging with a half smile to her. "I mean, maybe this will form the basis of your interstellar best selling prison memoir..."

Mimi chuckled slightly. "I doubt it, I do not think many would like to hear tales from inside a nice safe starfleet brig, stories of survivng Rura Penthe would be much more interesting."

"Well, if you want to add some embellishments, I won't tell if you don't," Gabriel shook his head with a chuckle, moving back to the desk with a soft sigh. "Hang in there just a little longer."

Drawing her feet up onto the bed Mimi lay back against the wall. "I will do my best."
