"Here we go," Scarlet frowned as she readied herself for turbulence. She sat down on the floor, bracing herself against a bolted down table, her arms wrapped around it. She could only trust that Thorne was doing the same for Lily.
Checking her people, Pola caught Evelyn's words as she settled herself onto the floor, also bracing herself against a bolted table. "It's best to try what we can Evelyn. At least he's protecting the patient as well as himself. The forcefield won't fail unless the power does as they are medical, they are reinforced due to the additional containment we need."
"I know but... if we're bracing for impact, this won't be a smooth landing at all." Eve replied, "Hold on tight, Kohl."
From his awkward position on the biobed, Kohl affirmed, "Holding tight!"
And Now, the Conclusion...
[ON]
Bridge
The ship came in quickly with her nose angled down. A quick burst of the emergency thrusters at the last moment forced the large hull to level out, and her belly touched down ungracefully into planet's the dry and arid surface. Churning up dirt and debris, the ship skidded for several hundred meters, rolling from side to side and bouncing off of her large nacelles. The vessel completed a final out-of-control snip, turning almost 360 degrees before her momentum ceased and the ship came to a stop.
On the bridge, Lirha was tossed from her seat as the impact occurred and went flying forward, colliding into Dea and then tumbling over the helm console. The Orion's body continued to roll forward until she slammed head-first into the bulkhead underneath the main viewscreen and then laid motionless on the ground as the rest of the bridge erupted in sparks and flying debris.
The bounce of the ship had caused Ens. Rhodes to fly up towards the ceiling and come down roughly on the tactical console. He then found himself flung across the bridge through the air to the far wall, due to the spin.
Quinn held onto a handhold that was part of the bulkhead with his prosthetic hand. As the ship slammed onto the ground, Quinn found himself completely horizontal to the bridge, while still clutching onto the handhold. "ARrrrggggghhhh" was about all he could let out of his lungs as he felt like every part of his body was being pulled apart. Suddenly Quinn felt himself flying forward. The sensation was blissful, until he was suddenly stopped by the viewscreen, and fell straight down onto the deckplating.
Dea crashed into the console hard as she brought the ship in for a landing. Then she found herself unceremoniously tossed from her chair she landed hard on her wrist when Galileo came to a stop but excess momentum forced Mialin to keep going.
Taking the sensors offline Kiri felt her work station start to heat up. Given what happened last time she at once started to withdraw, just at the ship hit the ground. Her chair started to spin, throwing her to the ground hard. The air was pushed out her with a squeak, pressure building up on her as she started to roll until she hit the railing of the rear section. Automatically she latched onto it, clinging for dear life.
One moment he was on his feet more or less, the next he was flying through the air. It occurred to Amril that the entire situation was very unusual, right before he landed against a station and had the wind knocked out of him. His head smashed against the LCARS display and his vision went black.
As the Galileo began to virtually bounce around within the atmosphere and eventually came in contact with the planet surface, Holliday felt like a leaf caught in an updraft. There was simply nothing he could do but go limp and allow his body to be thrown from his chair and towards the helm, rolling as he hit the ground, feeling a shock through his shoulder, but otherwise keeping himself in one piece.
Sickbay
As the ship lurched and creaked, Scarlet gripped on tighter to the table, not realising she was holding her breath. Her eyes widened, turning a darker shade of blue when she saw a restraint straining on a patient. She swore under her breath, pushing herself to get up and move forward to the bed to resecure it. Just as she pulled the strap tight, the ship lurched again, knocking her off her feet. She fell forward against the bed, but couldn't stop herself, hitting her head against the edge before falling to the floor, out cold.
As the ship tossed everyone around, Pola watched as everything tied down was flung forward. Holding on with everything she had, Pola willed herself to stay in place. At the last moment, when it seemed that her grip would give out, the ship gave one last jerk and seemed to come to a still position. Finally letting go, she took a few moment to find her equilibrium, the Doctor looked around her. "Ok...everyone report?"
Stumbling to his knees beside a biobed, Kohl called out to Pola. He breathed in and then a grunt of discomfort came out. Kohl's right arm yanked back and yanked up, because his wrist was still caught in the biobed restraint he had shared with a patient. Once Kohl freed his wrist, he checked on the patients on either side of him. On the other side of the next biobed over, Kohl spotted a crumpled uniform on the floor.
Kohl bounded across the compartment As he ran, he detoured far enough to snatch up a dented medical kit. The crumpled uniform on the floor was Scarlet Blake. Kohl dropped to his knees beside Scarlet and he leaned over her body. When Scarlet didn't respond to her name being called loudly, Kohl inspected her airway and her pupils. Kohl palmed a tricorder and he pointed it in Scarlet's direction. To Pola, Kohl reported, "Blake is unconscious, but she's breathing normally."
Varek pushed himself up from behind the biobed. Green liquid oozed from a nasty-looking gash on his forehead. He moved to the nearest flickering wall display and glanced over it. "Power to sickbay is gone. We are running off of sickbay emergency power, operating at thirty percent capacity. We should send out medical teams, reports may not be received from all locations."
During the landing, Eve's head struck underneath the biobed hard and was now rubbing her palm against her forehead. Hearing the others, Eve rolled onto her stomach and using the biobed to assist to get on her feet. "You alright?" she asked the patient she secured and he nodded. "Yeah this guy seems fine." she said rubbing her head again. "I need a jacuzzi."
As everyone checked in, Pola pressed her commbadge as she tried to figure out what exactly was happening.
=^= Sickbay to the Bridge; Is everyone ok?=^=
As she waited for a few moments, her call was met by silence. Tapping her commbadge again, Pola heard the beep which indicated it was working and so tried again.
=^=Sickbay to the Bridge; Is everyone ok? Someone please respond..=^=
As her call was once again met by silence, Pola felt a strike of fear as she realised something had to be drastically wrong. Looking around, she knew she needed to get to the bridge, not just for medical aid but because technically if the CO and XO where not communicating, she had to assume that she was now in command. "Kohl! I need you to take over here. Use who you can to help with the patients, see if we can get EMH, not that the ship is grounded, we might be able to spare the resources."
"I will, Pola," Kohl replied. He remained by Scarlet's side, down on the deckplates beside biobed three. "I'll see if I can track down Eda too."
Continuing to look around, the Doctor's eyes landed on Evelyn, "Lieutenant. I need you with me. We need to find out what's going on and you've sufficient training to be able to back me up."
"Of course, Doc." Evelyn said as her mind began to clear.
Grabbing a nearby emergency medi kit, Pola threw one to Evelyn and grabbed a second for herself before leaving sickbay at a run. Each impact on her injured ankle hurt, but right now, that wasn't priority.
Evelyn noticed Pola limping and moved next to her, "When we are done here, I'll set an appointment for us to get some massages."
Bridge
As the turbolift doors strained to open, they left a small gap which allowed her to be barely able to squeeze through. Looking around at the devastation, Pola's immediate reaction was fear. There seemed to be bodies scattered everywhere, mainly concentrated upfront by the view screen. "Evelyn, start scanning the people in the back by the science stations. I'll start on the people by the viewscreen." Without waiting for a response, Pola rang over to the first person, seeing it to be the Kiri. Crouching down by the prone body, Pola ran the scanner over the woman, "Kiri...can you hear me?"
"Yes," Kiri's voice was strained, pressure building up in her head and her heart was racing. Trying to shift her weight she started to sit up as it became too much. A heavy sneeze came thrice, dried blood dusting the ground followed by congealed black blood that oozed out. Dazed Kiri blinked before reacting, reaching a hand back to her nose as it started to bleed freshly. Sitting herself up properly she lent against the railing, "I'm okay," Clearly she as somewhat stunned, but taking in the room she started to pull herself up. Pinching her nose she looked at the doctor, "Our status?" Sluggish fleet already started to stagger her towards the Ops station, bruised ribcage aching and left knee feeling loose.
Pushing her hand down, Pola kept Kiri from moving, pushing her back down before she could go anywhere. "Stay here. You'll do yourself more damage. We've landed so there's no panic. Apart from the bleeding from your nose, can you tell me how else your feeling?"
The fact they were crashed didn't seem okay to Kiri, until she could prove otherwise they could explode at any minute, or vent plasma into every deck or a host of other things. Doing her best to resists the force, her body wasn't telling her no. It was telling her it hurt in some places, that there was damage but nothing that stopping her from moving. Normal Kiri started to come back, there were things she had to do, check-lists to carry out, "Bruises, that's all," At least it was all she could feel, then she wasn't the one holding the tricorder. Still standing she didn't relent it got easier to stand every second.
Pola was still concerned about the bleeding from the Trill's nose but nothing was showing up on the tricorder and she needed to get to the rest of the patients. Indicating for the woman to move on, Pola looked around for the next patient. "Once the place is secured, I want you in sickbay. The colony should be sending us medical support. And no complaints Ensign."
From the front of the bridge came a soft groan, and Lirha slowly rolled over onto her back as she began to regain consciousness, keeping her body still yet moving her hands to her head in obvious discomfort. "...Report..." she managed to say in a weak manner, wondering about the state of her ship.
Evelyn rushed to Lirha's side and opened the kit, pulling the tricorder out. "The ship.. crashed, and main power is offline." She said, as she looked at the scan. "Other than bruises and muscle strains, you're fine." She said taking a hyperspray and pressing it to Lirha's neck. "This is for the disorientation and the pain." She put the items back in the kit, and helped Lirha into her chair.
Feeling the sensation of cold metal against his forehead, Holliday didn't need long to know that he had come into contact with the base of the helm station. Thankfully there was nothing that he could sense that might be an injury, and was rather pleased that he had survived in one piece.
Groaning as he began to pick himself up from the floor, John staggered towards his chair before collapsing into it and sighing heavily.
"Well...at least....ugh...at least we're in one piece....any idea where we are?"
Once Eve got Lirha situated, she made her way to Holliday, and used the tricorder to scan his injuries. "I'm a medic now, not a navigator." Eve mused, "Looks like you're fine as well. Just a few bruises."
Theron opened his eyes and felt aches all over his body. The room was mostly dark, and full of moans. He rolled over to his side where he saw a medic bent down near several bridge crew near the front view screen. He struggled up on one elbow and recalled a very old saying, Any landing you can walk away from is a good one.
Dea resisted the urge to get up too quickly. Once it was determined ok to sit up she accepted some help to avoid putting pressure on her injured wrist. From there Mialin was able to get the rest of the way to her feet on her own. Slowly making her way back to her station. Allowing medical to finish up and give her something for the pain.
Quinn pulled himself up into a sitting position with an audible moan. "I'm too old for this shit." he said while holding his head. Quinn looked up to see the captain in her chair. "Well, I'm either dead and you came with me..." the engineer paused to clear his lungs from the stench of ozone and smoke, forcing several hard coughs. "....or we screwed up and lived and now you're gonna tell me to put the girl back together again....." Quinn looked at the intense damage, just on the bridge and then let slip a smirk from the corner of his mouth. "Please tell me we're dead?"
Back in her seat, Lirha struggled to focus on the console in front of her. Whatever Evelyn had injected into her was not settling well with her body, and her mind felt cloudy and disjointed. She was pretty sure she had a concussion of some type, but did her best to shake off the discomfort and focus. With several taps on her console, it flickered back to life and allowed her to check the ship's position. They had indeed landed, only a few miles from their original target. But the ship didn't seem to have fared too well, and most of the power was offline. "No Mister Quinn, we're not dead." she confirmed quietly. The next step was to assess the damage from the crash and treat the wounded...then to contact Starfleet and wait for their arrival.
