Braxton had called a staff meeting. He had gotten to know most of his staff members but wanted to get to know the rest and to see how they worked with one another. He also wanted to go over expectations and give his staff a chance to ask questions. He sat at the head of the table now waiting for staff to show up.

Nemo strolled in, a bit surprised to see he was the first to show up besides the department head. He was never regularly late for anything, he just moved a bit more casually then his usually uptight colleagues. As a result he was often the last to arrive at any group function, so this was a new experience for him.

"Morning, Lieutenant," he greeted, taking a seat to MacKenzie's left but leaving two chairs between them.

Braxton smiled. "Hello Mr. Bardasi! Seems like you are the first one here. We've not met yet. It's nice to formally meet you." He stood walked over and extended his hand.

As the CSO extended his hand towards Nemo, Sigrid had just walked in. She was carrying a tray of baked goodies for the meeting but was so engrossed in her conversation with Alethea Coleman that she walked right into the back of Nemo spilling the various backed treats to the floor. Sigrid stood dumbfounded, swaying between horrified that she wasn't watching where she was going and disappointment over spilling pastry on the floor.

"Oh my gosh I'm so-- ew, Doctor Coleman don't eat that!" Sigrid exclaimed in mock horror (though was secretly pleased that Coleman actually wanted to eat what she'd baked).

"Three second rule." Coleman answered back in her usual monotone voice. Her mouth was full as she'd taken a large bit of a soft cookie like morsel that'd she'd plucked off the ground.

Walking in as 'the deed' was being done, Marika playfully tickled Sigrid as she got up behind her and snickered at the Doctor's 'rule'. "That's a myth and everyone knows it. You just love her pastries too much not to eat them despite the very low health issues probable. It is a rather clean ship after all. She winked and grinned, staying half hidden behind the blond beauty.

Nemo was more amused than anything at the physical comedy of the situation, so he simply smiled and gave a friendly nod to the new arrivals. He sat back down, picked up a stray baked something that had landed near his feet, and gave it a taste. It wasn't bad.

T'Lin was punctual as usual. All Vulcans kept to a strict time table if one was given and she even more so. While she did not bother to look at the chronograph one could probably have seen the second hand just hit the mark as she entered. She moved to a spot out of the way and stood there quietly. One could have almost sworn a statue had just been placed there.

Rahl entered the office. He had gotten the invite to the meeting and had pondered accepting it or not. While he was technically a part of Science as a whole. He was in an entirely different department. However, in the essence of camaraderie and teamwork, he straightened his uniform and headed to the meeting.

Looking around at everyone already assembled he raised an eyebrow. Walking over to the table where the refreshments were at he sat down a bottle of Aldebaran whiskey. Though this was the real stuff from his private stock. Not the synthesized synthihol from the replicators.

He walked back towards the door and leaned against the wall as he just watched everyone

Braxton looked at Rahl. He'd brought whiskey to the meeting? It was wildly inappropriate and he would have words with Rahl later about it but he would not call the man out in front of the staff out of respect.

Braxton stood up once everyone had arrived and smiled. "Hello! Welcome to our first staff meeting. I'm glad everyone is here and ready to work because we have an hour and a half to get through our agenda." He looked at Lenaris, "And nobody is leaving early and without being dismissed." He pointed to the table. "There are snacks and drinks help yourselves if you wish something else feel free to go to the replicator and pick it up. We'll start by introducing ourselves by name, job in the department, and tell us about yourself and hobbies. We'll start with Ms. Lenaris and move around the circle and I will go last." He smiled. "The privilege of being a DH." He motioned to Lenaris. "The floor is yours."

Coleman had choked a little on the pastry she was eating when Braxton mentioned it was an hour an half long meeting. She at least resisted the urge to groan, but it had bubbled out into a heavy sigh which blew small pastry crumbs onto the back of Sigrid's head. She reached up to pat away the crumbs, but realized that would involve touching the woman and she slowly lowered her hand. Sigrid hadn't noticed anyway, so no harm done, Coleman thought.

"Ooooo, this is like grade school after planting season!" Jumping up and bouncing her way to the front of the crowd, Marika smiled at everyone. "I'm Marika, ship's archaeologist and anthropologist. Which basically means I try and stay out of your hair." She grinned at everyone knowing there would be a few half hidden nods.

"I love people, things, knacks, crannies and anything anyone it mildly excited about. If it's a hobby, I've either tried it, am in the middle of doing so, or is on my list. If not, let me know so I can add it in. I also love food, and sometimes I think there's a half ghost living in the Science labs." With that, she bounce back to her chair and started fidgeting waiting on the next person to speak.

Braxton chuckled at Marika's introduction.

With a bemused expression on his face at his colleague's perkiness, Nemo stood. "Nemo Bardasi, Astrophysicist and Cosmologist. I'm way more interesting than my field of study sounds. I have interesting hobbies too, but if you wanna find out what they might be, find me off duty." He gave a suggestive grin to no one in particular and took his seat.

Smiling Braxton shook his head as he listened to Nemo. He really liked the kid so far.

When it was Sigrid's turn she practically jumped out of her seat to introduce herself. She placed her hands on her hips and struck a red carpet pose before flipping her over her shoulders. The crumbs on the back of her head fluttered down onto the table where Coleman discreetly discarded them with a quick swipe of her hand. Sigrid had looked down briefly at the movement but was otherwise undeterred.

"I'm Crewman Apprentice Sigrid Thelin, a Vega colonist and former bar manager for the Galileo. My hobbies include parties, dancing, singing, gossiping, hair styling, manicuring, romantic holonovels, and pet grooming." She sat back down with a satisfied smile.

Coleman didn't stand, but instead sighed and said, "Doctor Coleman. I'm an ecologist. I have no hobbies."

"Everybody has a hobby!" Sigrid said enthusiastically.

"I have no hobbies." Coleman repeated in her monotone voice.

Rahl almost groaned inwardly. It would seem this would be just like any other team building meeting or exercise he had ever been to. He understood the importance of them, but they could get old very quickly.

He looked around at everyone. "I am Lieutenant Rahl Tyton, I am the Chief Research Officer for those of you that do not know me." He thought for a moment. "As for hobbies I am an avid study in history and philosophy and I have a great love for music."

T'Lin waited until last. The only acknowledgement that she had given for anyone else had been the green eyes moving. When she spoke is was not monotone but nearly as dry as a Vulcan wind. "T'Lin, xeno and alternative biochemist. I am told I am proficient with the lyre and flute."

Braxton stood up in the end. "Well I'm Lieutenant Braxton MacKenzie, while we are here in the science department I don't stand on formality I stand on equality. Call me Brax or Mac or Braxton. By way of hobbies I play a few instruments and I am known as the King of Trapeze. I am very glad to meet you all and to learn about everyone."

He smiled and after a pause he continued. "So I wanted to do a few things this meeting. One is I wanted to establish some rules, some regulations, departmental of course. I wanted everyone to meet and I have a project I will be presenting to the Admiral that we are all going to be a part of."

"I would be most curious what that project might be...Braxton," T'Lin said with about as much emotion as it got betrayed by her voice going from monotone to something with some timbre to it.
