"Thank you everyone, is there any other questions? As I and Doctor Mott will be involved with field work, please refer to Tuula for further assignments. Doctor Tuula," Allyndra looked at the woman. "You are now officially in charge of the ship's sickbay."

"I..." Tuula blushed slightly; while she had looked after sickbay for short periods during meal breaks and the like, she had never been put officially in charge before. "I won't let you down, Allyndra."

Allyndra just made a nod of the head. "Alright everyone that is going on EVA or shuttle work, let us get our gear and be prepared."

And Now, the Continuation...

Deck 7 - Astrometrics

"Well that's interesting," Cyrin spoke up from where he stood at his station, his face in stark relief by the slowly pulsating blue alert lights that lined the panels along the walls. "I d-didn't see that before." He had been pleased when his asteroid had been accepted by the team for landing, and now it seemed that things were even better than he'd expected. "The B-Bridge just reported that s-scanners have picked up deuterium and dilithium!" he told the others in the room.

"Whoop!" Sigrid shouted from her workstation. She'd been cleared for restricted light duties the night before and was more than happy to be awakened with a code blue alert. She swiveled her chair to face Cyrin, "the density scans are up. Nice percentages there too it seems."

The Trill turned his head to look at her over his shoulder, his face lit up with a smile for once instead of worry, "This is great!" He was glad to see Sigrid okay again, and a little guilty still. Astrometrics was officially assigned post, though he usually snuck away to work out of one of the quieter labs. That's why he hadn't been here to help her when they'd been pulled into the vortex. He'd been able to help Oren, which he was beyond grateful for, but maybe she would up so hurt because of him. The smile faded, his face fell back to worry again.

"Uhh...l-looks like w-we have good concen-cen-trations um, near the surface, about...six kilometers from the landing site for dilithium. If a team is g-going to go mining, that might b-be the best place. Any read on the deuterium?"

"Yup!" Sigrid said excitedly, though she didn't bob or dance around as usual. She was still a little stiff for that. "The deuterium to hydrogen ratio in the apatite crystals of the eucrites is well within needed range."

"This is like winning at Tongo," Cyrin replied. He really tried extra hard to control himself around the enlisted crew people, though they usually were the ones who seemed to care least about his awkwardness. He turned to try another smile at his pretty and brave blonde colleague. Another thought had come to him, to make him nervous though. Kohl was going to make him all sorts of uncomfortable, he was willing to bet, the next time he saw his superior if he praised Cyrin at all. He wondered if it was too late to give the credit of the asteroid presentations to Sigrid instead.

"Or Vegan Colony strip bingo!" Sigrid called back happily as she started collating and organizing the data from the asteroid for their end of shift reports later.

"I guess we should let them know," Cyrin said. He considered using the comms, but that would mean he'd be calling the Bridge. Him, a lowly ensign and lab geek. Instead, he typed out a brief report of the location of the highest and easy access concentrations of both the deuterium and the dilithium and sent that data to the Science station on the bridge. "It's all very exciting," he said once done, leaning back in his chair. I've never aa-actually been in a ship that's landed before."

Deck 1 - Main bridge

There was the tickle of the touch that both Galileo and Jynn had felt once the landing struts had touched down on the asteroid. It was a strange feeling having such a multi-tonne vessel set herself so gently upon a rock floating throughout the cosmos. As much dexterity as he seemed to have lost in his hand he felt an almost soothing sensation as he guided his partner to rest. We're here, my love, he thought to the ship he controlled. Let us hope this is a step to bringing us to where we aught be, he thought as he placed his hand on the control panel, the ship ceasing all momentum.

Stace then looked to the captain as they landed and nodded to him, a broad, relaxed smile breaking upon her face. She the then threw her attention over to Gyce. "Assemble a team, Lieutenant," she said as she stood from her chair. "This is your suggestion so you can make the call. Meet me at the docking port in fifteen minutes. Suited up."

"Petty Officer Cynwrig will be my relief. Crewman Koeing will accompany us, and I think, since we'll be scouting the mining site, it would be good to have an engineer to check for structural integrity," Gyce suggested. "Or a geologist, Ma'am."

Lirha walked over towards the nearby operations station and peered over Min's shoulder at the display to assess some of operational data readouts. It appeared there was minor damage to the structural beams near the nacelle pylons as well as damage to the reinforced plating surrounding the warp core. Fortunately, however, most of the serious damage seemed to be confined to the ship's bow where the secondary deflector housing was. Galileo's power readings were still faint and the vessel was running primarily on reserves which wouldn't last too long.

"I would like to send out two shuttlecraft as well," she said to Stace and Holliday. "We might be able to extend our scouting range and conserve power for transporter use, if necessary."

Gyce nodded in full agreement to that idea, though she remained silent. It was a command staff decision after all.

Stace then shot a glance to Jynn as she rounded the bars to the upper level of bridge. "That would be you, Lieutenant," Stace agreed with a smile. She then turned back to Holliday and raised an eyebrow, leaving him to arrange the co-pilot for the Deltan and the other shuttle team. It made sense to use the shuttle. With the sensors as they were and the power grid as fluctuating as it was, the shuttles operated independently from the Galileo which would mean a more consistent scout than there own sensors.

"Very well. Lieutenant Jynn arrange shuttle crew as you see fit. Worst case I'm sure I can take the helm for a while - not that there will be much call for my skills whilst we are sat on a rock"

The captain replied, glancing down at the helm feeling painfully aware that he hadn't had to get his hands dirty in quite a while. He still remembered the day he had first taken Galileo into space from dry dock in the surface of the earth, an experience he was likely to treasure forever.

A captain in control of the vessel? How appropriate. “Yes, sir,” Jynn replied with confidence in the captain's abilities. “I will arrange for both shuttles to be piloted accordingly.” He stood up from the helm and ran a hand across it slowly. “You're in good hands,” he spoke down at the console before leaving the station.

From the engineering workstation Ensign K'os Beaumont finally gathered the courage to interject with his own recommendations. It was certainly fortunate to see deuterium listed in the scans. With the buzzard collection coils not operating at full, the fuel reserves weren't replenished in any significant quantities since their travel to the asteroid belt.

"Captain," K'os said with a neutral expression, "I'd recommend sending out CU-47 as well, sir. The exocomp is rated for external repairs. I suggest him and perhaps an engineer with the workbee for good measure."

John nodded in reply, it made sense to use every possible resource available to them, especially if that resource was capable of operating in the extremes of open space without quite so high a risk of a fatality than if something happened to an EV suit.

"Agreed - assign one of your team and have them report to one of the landing parties."

John made a mental tally of how much resource he had committed to this mission so far. They needed the minerals from the asteroid as much as they needed a chance to repair the ship before heading for home, but balancing the two activities together without leaving the ship short handed was going to be the art.

"All department heads - those of your teams who are not involved in missions outside the ship are to pick up a hyperspanner and lend a hand wherever they can. Our priority is restoring some semblence of communications to contact Starfleet, beyond that I want warp drive and shields. Any questions?"

"Now that we've safely arrived at Hotel 511," Andreus Kohl said from the science console, "I've got plenty of hands that could be put to use repairing subpsace communications. I've put all non-essential research on hold for the moment."

Allyndra ignored the comm message. She looked to Tuula and shrugged, "I imagine that most of us will be busy handling the inevitable bumps, bruises and whatever. However, if you think you need to have some of the medical pretend to be engineers it is your choice. I stand formally relieved for now."

Taliesin stepped off the turbolift soon after the acknowledgements of the Captain's orders. He'd locked down the armoury as soon as Gyce had summoned him after having tidied up a bit more down there. He was definitely going to replicate new cabinets and locking mechanisms later. "As ordered, sir," he said quietly to his chief as he passed her on the Bridge, trying to be as professional and as out of the way as he could manage. This was his first time on Bridge duty, and he wanted to make a good impression. A few keystrokes into the Security station had him logged into the system, then he started running some level five diagnostics on their systems to see just how thing stood, keeping an ear out for any orders sent his way.
