Location: USS Galileo - Main Bridge
Timeline: MD 01 - 2245 hrs

Previously, on Through the Breach (Part 11)...

Logan got up from the table and stood on his own two feet. He held his chest with his right hand stained with dried blood. The emotions in his face were that of pain, discomfort, and anger. He hated to be injured or useless, even if were just temporary. He walked toward the entrance of the science bay with Kohl following.

Terribly aware that his new position meant Kohl was all the more responsible for Logan, he gave the order: "Comm me when you get there. If I don't hear from you in five minutes, I'm sending a security team to carry you to Sickbay."

In the corridor the two men shook hands and went in opposite directions. Logan to sickbay and Kohl toward the bridge.

And Now, the Continuation...

Deck 1, Main Bridge

As the lights came back up and Holliday found his feet back in contact with the deck plating, he let out a sigh and headed back towards his chair. The displays one by one came back online as the ship limped back into a state of life, but the readings made very little sense.

"Let's see where the hell we are shall we? Someone get the sensors online and find out our position. Helm bring thrusters online and stabilize our course - god knows what we're floating around next to."

"Emergency power restored," Keval stated, both antennae ticking straight up.

Lucero tapped and swiped along the console, clearing extraneous data collected within the set scanning reference resolution as he activated the sensors. After a few moments he made his conclusion.

"It actually seems that we have a asteroid belt extremely close to our vicinity." He paused for a moment, interpreting more data. "0.4987... About half of a light year away."

Still breathing heavily from what would now be his second runabout through most of Galileo, Jynn set to work on setting the ship straight and setting a stable course. Fortunately, with most of the RCS functioning properly with only a couple disabled it didn't take long for Jynn to stabilize Galileo's axes. He shook his head swiftly to get some of the sweat off his brow. "Stabilized, sir," Jynn reported as he completed the finishing touches on getting Galileo more comfortable.

The Trill, now walking back onto the bridge with her light EVA suit in her hand, cut a look to Holliday. She winced a sort of knowing smile to him and then placed her suit on her chair, walking over to Ops to have a look herself. "Having walked through deck two, we're not in great shape," came her preliminary report across the bridge. "But once we establish where we are and what we're to do, I'll run a full damage report to you in a few hours." She looked over [OPS] shoulder and read what she could, not wanting to encroach.

From his spot at an auxiliary station, S'rivas added, "Initial internal scans reveal numerous hull breaches on multiple decks." He'd swallowed his gum during the bumpy ride, a disconcerting sensation. "Emergency force fields are not responding but emergency bulkheads have been triggered to seal of affected sections." Memorizing the locations of the worst of the damage, the Bosun stood and headed for the turbolift without needing to be told. He needed to get to his damage control team as soon as possible and coordinate with Engineering.

Holliday was perplexed at the existence of the asteroid field, it wasn't something that he had been made aware of as part of the NIMBUS exercises, but the fact it was a half light year from their current position probably had something to do with it. For short distance combat at impulse, that may as well have been the other side of the quadrant.

"Very well, that asteroid field must contain something big enough for us to set down on....repairs would go a lot more expediently if we could power down some primary systems. Helm set a course, engage at warp one when ready. Let's not tax the engines any more than we have to."

With a nod of acknowledgement Jynn began to carefully plot a course with the equipment he had found to be in a most fragile state. He took a few extra moments to ensure it was set properly. Everything else this day had been done so hastily but the task at hand probably required more than a few quick thoughts. After the course was set he gently, very gently, brought the ship into warp, starting with a fraction and slowly working his way up to full warp factor one. With only a bit of shuddering it seemed as though it would run just fine.

The captain was wary of using warp drive with the ship's systems so badly compromised but there wouldn't be any chance of rescue unless they could get long range communications back on board, and to do that they needed time and a place to land.

"Meanwhile have the science department locate a suitable asteroid for us to land on. Short range sensors should suffice by the time we get a little closer. And if you wouldn't mind having the crew review procedures for Orange Alert I would appreciate it Commander?"

Stace nodded to Holliday and then over to Kohl who heard the captain's request. She took an auxiliary display at Ops and then shunted some addition power to the Astrometics lab on Deck Seven, having to bypass the EPS blowouts on Deck Six. "Commander," she stated, now looking to the Argelian across the bridge, "I should have given you enough power to keep Astometics up and running. I think we're going to need the sensitivity of the sensors down there. As soon as you find a suitable asteroid, report back to me."

Half out of his compression suit, Kohl was just settling into his chair at the forwards science console, and he acknowledged the order. "You'll be the first to know, Commander," Kohl said. "I'll give you a choice of three, and you can pick the one you like the look of."

Flicking her eyebrow up, Stace using the internal communications array then sent out a ship-wide announcement. "All senior officers. Begin to prepare the ship for Condition Orange. We're setting down once we arrive at the Nimbus' asteroid belt. Ready your stations and your crew. Stace out."

Relief wasn't an adequate word to describe what Mina felt when she realized that the heavy feeling in her chest was the gravity systems coming back to life. Once her feet were firmly on the deck, the Ambassador's right knee buckled, sending her stumbling into the bulkhead. She sighed heavily as she steadied herself, realizing that zero-g had been masking some aches and pains. "I'm too old for this," Mina mumbled as she pushed some hair, and subsequently blood, from her forehead. As the lights came up, so did the panel in front of her. Flickering several times, the interface luckily had a cut out of Galileo - something this Starfleet newcomer was in desperate need of. It was especially useful considering the call that had just come over the ship's comms. Mina wasn't sure what she was supposed to do in relation to Condition Orange, but she was here to be an advisor. Maybe there would be a need to contact a nearby star system for aid. Looking at the map for another moment, Mina proceeded another few meters down the corridor to a turbolift, and seconds later got her first view of the main bridge. It was a mess.

"Anything I can do to help?" Mina asked taking two confident steps onto bridge, trying to ignore her knee. She knew the answer was probably going to be an annoyed "no" from the Captain.

"That depends Ambassador. If you know your way around a medkit report to sickbay, if you can repair an EPS relay head for Engineering. Otherwise, I doubt it." John replied matter-of-factly as be turned to see the ship's new diplomat emerge into his command centre.

"That goes for all hands - we all pitch in and we all get the job done. Me included. Get to it people."
