Previously, on Through the Breach (Part 7)...

Exhausted from their ordeal, their injuries and their struggle earlier to stay alive, it was easy to just head towards sleep. Oren was warm against him, when everything else was so cold, and Cyrin didn't even care anymore that he was touching someone. In fact, he was glad that he wasn't alone at the end. Maybe if he'd had a chance, he would have done things differently, but as he struggled and gasped for breath, it didn't seem to matter much anymore.

His eyes drifted closed, and only opened briefly as the damage control team entered the room not too much later. Cyrin could see them in their suits, carrying their kits, caught a glimpse of a peaceful looking Oren, as he was loaded onto a stretcher.

Manuel began to feel his feet lift from the floor. He gripped the console and pulled himself back into his chair, alarms blaring around him as he maintained as many processes as he possibly could.

And Now, the Continuation...

Deck 2 - Impulse Control Room

Cameron, panting from the extra effort of walking in Gravity boots eventually arrived at the entrance to the main fusion reactor control room. The doors, from the equalising pressure of the microfracture had buckled the parting doors, bending both of them inwards to the room.

"Well....shall we?" He called back along the corridor to his partner in crime.

"After you ... Hulk." Eva began a scan of the room before she noticed three people in pressure garments standing around. "Engineering. Everyone alright?"

A response came from deeper in the compartment, on the other side of floor to ceiling machinery. "We're still on our feet," said the voice of Andreus Kohl, "if that's what you mean..."

"Lieutenant Kohl?" Riley called back in an uncertain voice. It took a moment for him to think that the Bridge was a lot closer than Engineering, and as such made sense that they would have gotten there first.

"What are you doing here sir?"

Kohl stepped away from Stace and Min. He rounded a tower of cylinders to wave down the engineering team, and lead them deeper in. "Probably the same as you," Kohl remarked. "We're trying to power the EPS grid with an impulse reactor, at least until the warp core is beating again. But the damn reactor isn't cooperating."

Stace looked to Min and then joined Kohl with the engineers. "Even just for life support and communications," Stace confirmed. "But we're no engineers. And that seems to be causing us some problems. Lieutenant Min is the closest thing we have to one of you guys." She stepped aside to present Min to the two. "Wanna - uh - take over, Lieutenant?"

Min nodded to Eva & Riley. "As best as I can gather, the system completed an emergency shutdown but because the EPS taps were opened and reversed, the system will not initiate a restart until we manually close the taps. I've never seen taps locked open in a reversed position so hopefully you two have some insight."

Eva nodded her agreement. "It's tricky without main power but I think we can manually close the taps. We'll just need access to the accelerator segment which is a bit of a tight squeeze on these vessels."

Min nodded. "One of us will have to squeeze in there. Eva, as your with child, if one of us can squeeze in there, I'd rather you didn't."

"Och...looks like it's down to me then eh? Ok hold on..." Riley replied, sighing as he unclipped his engineering kit and began to shed the heavy EV suit that he had been wearing up to now in order to remove as much excess bulk as necessary from his frame. Removing the cover from the far wall, he discarded it onto the deck plating and began manipulating his body into the compartment.

"Ok....now nobody start powering things up whilst I'm sat in here ok? I dinnae want to get fried!"

"You'll be all right. We'll stand guard," Stace replied with a smile as she watched his legs disappear through the hatch.

Deck 7 - Main Engineering

After that was taken care of he came alongside Grayson with a cold hard look on his face. "In an emergency situation where hull breaches have occurred, protocol is for damage control teams made up of trained personnel amongst the entire crew, including engineering, operations, science and security. It was exam question number forty-seven. You just reassigned someone with extensive knowledge of the warpcore to hull repair that is already underway. We are following orders, Lieutenant." He pointed to the top of the warpcore. "Injectors are now closed and the core is now prepped for reboot. Do you still need me to restore gravity or do you want me somewhere else?"

"Then trust me that I am putting the right people in the right place at the right time. I don't have to explain my choices, but any questions...you ask them on the spot." Grayson engaged the procedure to restart the core, his blood loss now more sever than he would care to admit. "Protocol is something you do not need to quote to me, Vasily was suited up and good to go, help prevent the loss of life. Getting people into suits takes precious seconds away from that effort, he's damned good at what he does, but was needed else where. The core was manageable. You're my next best and we needed gravity back as soon as we can, do you think sickbay can save the lives of those injured while they float? Damn it K'os, I never doubted anyone's ability, I needed people where I needed them in to save lives. That is the first and foremost in my mind in a crisis. We do what we can to give everyone else time." He really needed K'os to see that, the bigger picture that was Engineering in a crisis, at least from his point of view. The core once again sprung into life, yet the gravity was still not restored. "Ask me things, make suggestions, but don't override commands without grounds. It causes confusion in the department. There are better ways of getting points across than that." He did his best to smile, "So yeah, Gravity still needs taken care of. I will be headed to sick bay one way or another before long and I would like to keep my eyes."

K'os said nothing as Grayson spoke. It took most of his effort and concentration to not let his emotions spiral out of control in his mind. In the heat of his frustration he misunderstood the Chief's smile as condescending and his usual passive face took on a deep frown. "You can dress me down after we get this shit storm under control then."

He moved away from the floating Chief and with the advantage of his anti-grav boots he was able to position himself under a console to reroute the energy flow so he could use a little power from one of the batteries to power up the console. When that was done he accessed the environmental controls. "There is still residual energy built up in the holodeck capacitors that remained. I'm rerouting enough to restore gravity." He said to Grayson. His voice quavered a bit with emotion. Without communications to warn anyone that gravity was about to be restored he would have to increase it gradually to prevent further injuries. Last thing they needed was crewmembers falling from ceilings. With slow deliberate strokes of his hand he increased gravity slowly until it was returned to normal. "There isn't enough left for communication systems, but Mercy is working on that on deck 2."

"No dressing down will be required, at least I hope not, if we are on the same understanding now, or somewhere towards that," Grayson's face changed as he looked down at the systems display. The part of the hull that housed the comms array had been breached and was sheered off during their transition through the disturbance. With haste, he tapped his comm badge, =/\= Mercy, hold on! The hull is breached where you are headed Eva. The comm array is gone. Tread lightly, most likely there are a few exposed EPS relays about. The core is back online again=/=. It was, they had managed to get the core back up and running from its warm start, there was still some way to go to bring it back to full power. They had what they needed for now and would allow for a more coordinated effort across the ship.

"Alright." K'os said as his anger subsided and his eyes roamed over the bleeding laceration on Grayson's head. "Then we need a plan."

Grayson being Grayson though, was already formulating a plan and began to speak it a loud to any and all who were around him, "We could patch the shuttle comms into the ship, make them a slave drive to the actual system on the ship, responding to it's input. We wouldn't notice a difference in how to use it, but power will be reduced, so strength and range will be diminished."

"It should be enough to at least get a distress call out and communicate with rescue teams from Starfleet." K'os moved to an upturned chair. With gravity restored things that had been floating around were placed down gently in random areas. He retrieved the chair and got Grayson to sit down. He then got a first aid kit and pulled out a blood clotting bandage for the Chief, placing it gently on his head. "Hold this as firmly as you can. It looks like you're going to need Sickbay. Trust in your team, lieutenant, we've got it from here."

"Just follow the plans for now, you got good instincts, trust them," Grayson winced in pain as he was suddenly made away of how bad his wound was, thanks to the bandage now pressed tightly against his forehead. "If you wouldn't mind giving the bridge an update thoughm I would appreciate it," he began to feel the room spin.

K'os stepped away from the Chief and tapped his comm badge. "Beaumont to Bridge." His voice was calm in contrast to the tiny alarms ringing throughout engineering. "Incoming status report, captain. We have restarted the warpcore and restored gravity throughout the ship. As you can hear, we have internal comms up, but Lieutenant Jones has discovered that external comms are still down until we can repair the physical array hardware. We have a team enroute to the shuttlebay to temporarily patch the shuttle comms into the ship to begin mayday procedures. We also have a team standing by in the computer core for auxiliary power so they can begin rebooting ship functions." K'os looked around the space at all of the people busy at work. "We also have casualties down here, captain, and we require a medical team."

Deck 1 - Main Bridge

Holliday had managed to find himself both graciously and gratefully settling back into his chair as partial main power seemed to come back online, as the main lights re illuminated the bridge and several of the console whirred back to life. Hearing the sound of the comm network crackling back into life gave him some reassurance that the damage to the rest of the ship perhaps was not as bad as he thought.

=^=Engineering this is Holliday - it's good to hear your voices. I will ask Sickbay to send a team as soon as possible. Good work with the core - I appreciate having my ship back. Continue damage control as you see fit.=^=

Holliday closed the comm channel to look down at his command interface as some of the command codes started to run and the readouts slowly came back to life.

=^=Sickbay this is the Bridge - Medical team to Engineering. =^=

"Is that the captain?" Olsam asked no one in particular. He tapped his combadge and cheerily replied, "Understood, we'll dispatch an emergency medic as soon as possible."

"Go to them," said Tuula, at Olsam's side. "I can hold down the fort here," she added looking up at him. With all the debris strewn around the ship, she wasn't exactly the best candidate to take on the role of a medic. As she looked up at him, her eyes longed for the vote of confidence from the man she cared about that leaving her to handle sickbay would entail.

"Hmm," Olsam said, doing a quick sweep of the room. It didn't take him long to nod. "Yep, okay. Don't break anything until I get back. Unless it's Shirley. You can break that." He grinned, winked at her, and went to pack up for the bridge.
