Mission: Episode 12 - Recluse
Location: USS Galileo- Deck 5, Holodeck 1
Timeline: MD -04; 1730 hrs

ON:

It had been a typical day at work. Nothing to arduous, but nothing particularly exciting either. Natalya had spent three hours at her desk, one in a meeting, two doing some hands-on work and the rest just making the rounds. Pretty standard stuff.

Arriving back at her quarters, Nat was somewhat resigned to a quiet night in. She hadn't heard from Marika all day, and assumed the other woman was working, as usual. She kicked off her boots, and thought about what to have for dinner.

Then she saw the package laying on her table.

The box was wrapped in a gaudy, kaleidoscopic mix of orange green and black, and tied up with an insane amount of frilly ribbons and bows. As a surprise, unanounced gift, it looked extremely suspect. But Natalya had a fairly good idea who it was from. There was a card tucked into the layers of ribbons and bows, difficult to spot at first. She plucked it out and opened it.

Dear Sputtlefish,

I hope you didn't make plans. I have a surprise for you!

Come to my place. As soon as you read this. Don't be late!

-CC

p.s. Almost forgot. Put this on!

Sputtlefish? Nat smiled and rolled her eyes. CC was surely none other than the Cheshire Cat. She couldn't help but tear open the package to see what sort of madness had been left inside. With all the ribbons and bows it took her several minutes.

:: Some Time Later

Natalya didn't know what to feel as she made what felt like a very long walk from her quarters to Marika's. Horrified mostly, with aroused in a close second. Marika's gift had turned out to be a very tight catsuit in some shiny, synthetic material that covered her from neck to toe. It was pink and black. Mostly black, but with enough pink to make her cringe. And it was very tight. Had she mentioned that yet? High heeled stiletto boots were inconveniently part of the outfit, making it all one piece.

Had Marika finally lost her mind? Or had she, for actually leaving her quarters in such a get-up. Probably both. She was spotted twice during the trip. A male crewman couldn't help but oogle her both before and after she passed by, and a female ensign almost dropped her datapad.

Natalya almost banged her head against Marika's door to announce her arrival. Or at least she would have, had the door not been open for everyone to peek in.

From within the young Bajoran spun around at the shadow falling within from door. “Ah! HA! There you are!” Taking a spoonful of the Rektelian Spice Pudding she was holding in her hands, she promptly cleared the distance to her guest and fed it to her. “Awesome isn’t it?”

Not even waiting for a response, she half ran to the replicator and added it to the pile of various dishes she had obviously been sampling. Turning back around, she grinned at Natalya and struck a pose. “What do you think?” Although obviously similar in style, her reflective catsuit was built with patterns of green and purple.

Natalya looked at Marika, her eyes widening for a moment. The colors were... definitely her. She was truly a sight. It took an effort for Nat to pull her eyes away from Marika's curves to look her in the eye for a reply. The effort had definitely not gone unnoticed. Busted!

Blushing, Natalya tried to think up something clever to say. "I'd heard that Starfleet was looking into putting together new uniforms, but I didn't know they'd put you in charge of the project."

“Oooooooo! Wouldn’t THAT be awesome?” For a very short moment, Marika had been curious as to Natalya’s obvious discomfort, but quickly forgot about it at the mention of new uniforms. “Although I have to say, I doubt my talents would be taken seriously but then again designers are supposed to be a little different and out there… but not Starfleet uniforms, no those need to be all strict and … although I’ll admit these models are at least comfortable to wear, and the previous era had a few good ones too. Twenty two seventy either and up were beautiful, but a little too militaristic. You didn’t answer my question… oh right your eyes did! You look fantastic by the way, I knew my color choices were perfect! It’s not too tight I hope? I was surprised they were as flexible as I’d been told they would be, tried my hand at a few tumbles earlier.”

Natalya gave Marika a dry stare. She knew very well that it barely fit. "Tumbles... in what, fourteen centimeter heels? Riight." She said, reaching out to gently poke Marika. "So... any more surprises?"

“Well…. Two choices!” She stuck two fingers in Natalya’s face. “We stay here and stare at each other until someone walks along and calls medical, being convinced there’s something odd going on.” She folded one of her fingers down. “OR! We go to the holodeck because I reserved us an hour to go mystery grabbing!” She folded her other finger and jumped on spot with excitement a few times.

Natalya wasn't convinced that a call to medical wouldn't arise from either outcome. "Mystery grabbing, huh?" She said, not quite grasping what that entailed. Some kind of wonky adventure that probably defied the laws of physics, Nat reasoned, knowing what she did about her girlfriend.

"So... what character am I supposed to be?" Nat asked, ready to follow Marika's lead. People usually wore strange costumes to the holodeck because they were portraying some kind of character. She couldn't imagine who she was supposed to be. Some kind of comic book superhero?

“Well our names matter little, but we work for the Special Tactics And Rescue Service and we have been called upon to retrieve the Tesseract, a world shaking artifact that could mean the end of civilization as we know it, if the agents of the Villains International League of Evil get their hands on it. As such we will travel to the deserts of Arrakis where we will enter the Pyramid of Dejah Thoris, an ancient Lórien warrior who is said to be its guardian. You in?” Her speech had steadily increased in speed and pitch as she spoke, leaving her excited and jumping in place waiting for an answer.

Natalya nodded as if all of that made perfect sense. She wondered whether it was an existing program, or if Marika had just made it all up the night before. Probably the latter if she was going to traipsing about a desert in high heels. She noticed that the boots on Marika's costume were a bit more... conventional, evidenced by her already bouncing about in them. Natalya wondered if she was destined to be the damsel in distress.

"Right! Let's go find this... tesseract...!" Natalya said, trying to sound as enthusiastic, even if her understanding of the story was not quite complete.

Hiding behind a rock formation, the two Agents of STARS observed their VILE counterparts unloading scientific equipment, half their base of operations already in place, guards everywhere.

Marika cocked her head to the side and smiled. This was going to be interesting. “Ideas?”

"There's no way we're going to be able to sneak up there with so many guards around." Natalya said, looking down at her pink and black outfit. Marika's was just as conspicuous in purple and green. "And I don't think we're heavily armed enough to attack them head-on." She looked down at the belt around her waist. It had a few small smoke grenades, a short-range dart gun with tranquilizer darts, and a small rod that could extend out into a longer stick weapon, presumably to block swords or thump bad guys with. None of it was lethal or what she would consider hi-tech. Maybe if she got close enough she could poke someone with her high heels.

"What have you got on your fancy belt there? Anything useful for creating a distraction?" Natalya asked.

Still staring at the forming camp below Marika enumerated her gadgets. “A few handfuls of tiny metal balls, a micro drill and some ever expanding bubble gum. Plus the magnabelts and shock gloves we both have.” An idea was starting to form, she could feel it. But like it usually was, she wasn’t privy to it’s content just yet.

Natalya pursed her lips. It could all be useful, but nothing immediately stood out as the answer to all their plans. "I figured you might have a flute that summons giant sand worms." She teased, giving her girlfriend a gentle jab.

"If we can get to the ruins the ground will be hard enough to use those metal balls, to trip these guys up if we lure them towards us. Especially with one of these smoke grenades. But that'll only work if these guys are dumb. And if we can get there without being spotted." Natalya winced. As soon as they stepped out of cover they'd be like strutting peacocks; no matter how stealthily they moved, their outfits would draw eyes.

"What we need is a diversion."

Marika stared at Natalya for several moments, her eyes darting on the woman's face as if each corner was a different idea she was analyzing. Then, her ever present smile turned to a grin. Reaching into her belt she took out some gum and offered some to her beautiful partner.

"Gum?"

Natalya took the piece of gum and looked it over. It looked like a stick of old-fashioned chewing gum. "So... that's the diversion? You want me to go up and as if they want any gum?" She had a feeling Marika had some quirky plan hatched up, but like everything about the Cheshire Cat it involved riddles, and she'd have to uncover it bit by bit.

Marika giggled and stuck out her tongue. "No silly!" She offered it again. "You chew some while I take a look at one of your smoke grenades." She offered a hand in reception. "How are your bubble making skills?"

Natalya started chewing the gum with obvious hesitation. It tasted like gum, but she still wasn't convinced that it was just plain chewing gum. As for the smoke grenades, she struck a pose, showing them off. They were clipped to her belt just above her butt. She attempted to make a bubble with the gum.

Marika took a fraction of a second to appreciate the pose, although it didn't show. She carefully grabbed one of the grenades and observed it for a moment. "Ok so smoke comes out from this end. I'm guessing the pressure would normally make it spin around some... but in this case it'll be encased in..." She looked up as she spoke and frowned slightly at her partners idea of a bubble.

"You'll have to do better than that if we're to fit half of this.." she shook the grenade, "in that!" She pointed at the rapidly deflating balloon like mixture.

Natalya tried to blow a bigger bubble, but it popped and she had gum stuck all over her lips. She sighed. "This is crazy..." She said, then started murmuring about how they'd be better off with a 'potato gun.' Still, she managed to blow a much bigger bubble on one of her next few attempts.

The young Bajoran looked up and smiled. "Much better!" She reached for another pack of gum and handed it over. "Here! Use these now. They won't burst. So make sure your bubble it big enough."

Turning her back to her lovely companion, Marika took another look at their challenge. "If we launch it right, and strike left, we should keep most of them distracted by the blowing ball of smoke. We take out the stragglers as we go and enter while no one is looking! Perfect!"

"Note for next time. Bubblegum doesn't float." Natalya said in an annoyed tone as she sat on the deck and stared at the blank holodeck grid. The plan had not gone well. Well, to be more precise, a poor plan had been executed poorly.

Immediately after being launched, the heavy, smoke-filled bubble of gum fell to the rock in front of them and burst, choking them in a haze of smoke just as they darted out from behind the rock. Blind and caught in a coughing fit, Natalya had almost immediately tripped over her high heels and fallen. The guards had been on them almost immediately after.

"We should probably never speak of this." Natalya suggested.

Staring at the ceiling, Marika counted the grid pieces as she tried to figure out just how that failed so horribly then she started laughing.

"What do you mean never speak of this? This will make for AWESOME stories!"

Excitement burst from the young Bajoran. She struck the floor several times with her feet and laughed some more. Then, she rolled over and in one continuous motion, pounced on her companion and roared another laugh.

"Oofph!" Natalya said as the air was knocked out of her by the sudden pounce. "I don't think crime fighting is our thing." She said, wrapping her arms around Marika's shoulders and neck and pulling her down close for a kiss.

The other woman followed the pull and kissed her lover with intensity. Something about failure energized her. Made her want to circle the problem and run back at it. It also seemed to bring out desires of a more ... intimate nature. Desires she had every intention to follow through.

"Computer lock doors!" She broke her kiss long enough to give the order, offer a knowing grin, then return to her lovers waiting lips.
