Mission: Episode 11 - Divinum Mundi
Location: USS Galileo: Deck 4- Korre Barras' quarters.
Timeline: Md17 1600hrs

[ON]

Bags in hand Mimi walked down to what was to be her new quarters, she was going to be sharing with one of the ships civilians; an unusual arrangement but she didn't mind. Her tail curled up in a long U shape and her ears twitched in anticipation of meeting the person who she would live alongside for the foreseeable future. Reaching the room she tapped the chime.

Xinye was on the floor and padding toward the door before Korre registered that the chime had sounded. "Be nice," she advised the kitten, uncurling herself from the couch to pad over. "Enter," she called, bending down to scoop her pet into her arms. It ... was fortuitous, as the panel slid aside to show yet another feline of a sort. "Ah ... hello?"

"Hi." Mimi said as the door slid open revealing a slightly older women cradlng a small cat in her arms. "Miss Barras? I'm Ensign Mimi. I am your new room mate." She told her smiling as she spoke.

Korre's mouth curved into a slight smile as she regarded the young woman. She spoke standard with something of an accent, but was easily understandable. She stood back, gesturing for the ensign to come in. "I was wondering how long we would be left to our own devices. Welcome, Ensign, and please call me Korre. This is Xinye." The kitten's ears perked in curiosity as it regarded the newcomer. "She's curious, but overall harmless."

Mimi came in and put her bags down, she held her hand near Xinye letting her smell and examine her before she petted her. Xinye chirred as Mimi petted her and Mimi matched the chirr perfectly. "She reminds me of a picture I saw of when my cousin was a baby." Mimi remarked.

That one elicited a chuckle as Korre shifted her hold on the kitten. To her credit, Xinye soaked up the attention with a full measure of Feline Drama. "Oh great - make the new-comer think you're a perfect little angel, why don't you?"

"Is she not a little angel?" Mimi asked petting Xinye a little more.

"Oh of course; of course, the halo keeps getting tangled around her horns - at least the ears hide the damage." She rubbed Xinye's head with a gentle thumb, earning a miau in response. "Yes, it appears we have a new friend and she likes you." To the young lady, she added, "You'll have to forgive me, Ensign; you're not Caitian, are you?" Korre had seen some in the past and Mimi held little - if any - resemblance.

Mimi smirked. she got that question all the time. "I'm not Caitian no. I'm a Nekomi, like a caitian but much more human." She replied giving Korre the simplest version.

It was enough. She wasn't an xenopologist in the least, and if Mimi was going to be living with her, then anything else the girl wanted her to know would come out in time. "That works. I'm El Aurian - I look human, but I age much more gracefully, all things said." Shifting her hold on Xinye, she turned into the room. "As you can see, there's not a great deal of room, but it suits. I have a small set-up that lets me make teas and what-not - feel free to use it if you like. Also, I'm the lounge manager, so if there is anything in particular Nekomi like to eat, just let me know and I'll get it on the menu, so to say."

"El Aurian? I've heard of your species but never met one before." Mimi picked her bags up and carried them into the unoccupied bedroom. "El Aurians can live for a long time right, do you mind if I ask how old you are?"

"Not at all," Korre called out from the main room as she set Xinye down on the floor. Almost immediately the kitten padded off to watch her new playmate. "I'm a hundred and thirty two; rather young, actually, for my species. We don't hit middle age until our fifth or sixth century - some even a bit later than that."

"Wow. You're already older than the oldest Nekomi I ever knew and he was nearly at the end of his lifespan." Mimi commented as she began to unpack starting with her collection of trinkets, each one belonging to a different species she had encountered.

"Well, there are a lot of species that I tend to outlive, so it's something I've had to get used to over the years." Sometimes it hurt - especially if she became attached to someone - but the pain neutralized over time.

"I don't think I'll ever get used to the pain of suddenly losing everyone I ever knew like I did." Mimi carefully displayed her trinkets on the shelf. "The Klingons came to my colony and killed everyone."

A flicker of remorse played across Korre's expression as she came to stand beside the door, glancing in at the young woman. The display of collectibles was eclectic, a reflection of what she was gleaning from the Ensign herself. "I'm sorry for that, Mimi." While she had lost her own family, the Borg had been something of a universal enemy; the Klingons, however, were more often than not considered Allies of the Federation. Never mind that they were a varied people in themselves, the association had to be difficult.

"I was lucky." She told Korre. "I got trapped in a ruined building and the Klingons never found me. Hours later a starfleet ship picked up our distress call, came to the planet and found me, but only me."

Coming alongside Mimi, Korre rested a hand on the young woman's back. "You are the only of your speices left, or are there others still?"
While her own life was tragic enough, Korre still had family in her brother and uncle, as well as family friends who had settled on Earth with them.

Mimi's ears twitched backwards when she felt Korre's hand on her back "The only one I know of." She replied "My homeworld is.... somewhere in this big galaxy but I don't know where. Not even sure where to start looking."

Patting the girl's back gently, Korre smiled. "Well, I cannot replace family in any way, but you can consider me a friend while we're both here together." Hearing a purr from below, she glanced down to see Xinye butting a soft head against Mimi's shin. "And Xinye as well."

"Thanks Korre." Mimi leant down then carefully picked up Xinye and put her in her lap. "And you to Xinye." she said and petted her.

Pleased that the girl was a bit more relaxed, Korre tilted her head in thought. "I was just getting ready to make some tea; would you like some, or is there something else you enjoy drinking?"

"Some tea would be nice, thank you." Mimi replied, she continued unpacking with one hand while petting Xinye with the other.

"Right." Setting the water to boil, Korre took down her tea mixes. "And after that, I'm going to give you a proper tour of the ship; as crazy as things are, you'll be drafted to work sooner than later, so best to get the good stuff done now!

"I would like that Korre, at least I won't get lost with you showing me around." Mimi started to unpack her off duty clothes refolding them and stacking them neatly in the drawers.

Korre watched her for a moment as the tea seeped. "Right. Well, as soon as you finish here, we'll have a drink and head off. Then, I'll take you by the lounge on the way back and treat you to a meal on the house: no credits needed."
