Personality & Traits

General Overview Korre has lived a life that might be called tragic by many; to her, it is spangled with an assortment of well-deserved charms to brighten the gloom. She lost most of her family to the Borg assault on her home world, and would have died herself had her uncle not returned to take her and her baby brother with him as he made his escape from the planet. Though it would be a stretch to say she is happy, Korre would confidently label herself as content with life and the direction it has taken her.
Strengths + Athletic in build, with a high physical endurance, Korre stays active whenever her schedule will allow.
+ Korre is a high achiever academically. While she was never the type to press for honors classes and the like, she has always explored extra-curriculars outside her normal span, seeking to expand her knowledge as best possible.
+ Adaptable would be a key word to describe Korre. Thrown numerous challenges over her extended years, Korre has worked each thread into an ever-growing tapestry and continued to the next point more or less unfazed
Weaknesses - Korre has never really been one to admit weakness. She rather addresses them as obstacles. If a challenge comes her way, she either finds a way to conquer it, or to forge her own path around what would otherwise be an immovable block in her life. At times in the past, this has meant walking away from what she might – at the time – have considered her future, but over the years she has learned to take all in stride and enjoy life as it comes to her.
Ambitions Blessed with a lifespan beyond what any normal Human could claim, Korre’s goal is to take in all the knowledge her mind can handle before her end finally reaches her
Hobbies & Interests Martial Arts (Savate, Capoeira), Computers, Astronomy, Literature, Nature
Vernacular Korre has a slight North African accent, having grown up on the coast of what was once known as Tunisia.
Orientation Bisexual
Language(s) Spoken El Aurian, Standard, Tunisian - along with a smattering of other languages picked up in her travels

Personal History Born on the southern half of the planet of El Auria Prime, Korrena was the 2nd of three children, and the only daughter, of Galiel and Rikka Barras. Her elder brother, Avnir, was some fifteen years her elder while Aldin – or Ali, as she called him, was the baby at four years her junior. Her father was a pilot in the El Aurian Fighter Corps along with her uncle Quinton – her mother’s twin brother – and when he reached of age her brother Avnir.

Korre’s early childhood was a pleasant one. Homeschooled by her mother, she learned the rudimentary skills of reading, writing, music and art. She was just learning to cook basic meals with her mother when news of the Borg approach reached the planet. In defense, her elder male relatives joined with others in the flight corps to provide a primary defense against the attack.

Their efforts were in vain; the massive bulk of the Borg force broke through the valiant line and attacked the planet in force. Multitudes were killed; families fought for position on escape vessels, though many of these were destroyed before they could even leave the atmosphere. Others – patriots like Rikka and her sister-in-law Saya – pledged to remain and hold the home front for as long as possible.

When the ragged remains of the fighter corps return, it was to find a home planet decimated beyond recognition. Of Korre’s family, only her uncle and a friend of his returned – and that to find only herself and her baby brother still alive.

The depleted clan escaped in the wake of the Borg departure, making their way to the Alpha Quadrant. Some many years later they arrived to the Sol system and planet earth, settling in a region known to the locals as North Africa. Quinton did his best by the children, but he was a grieving father himself. In the end, it was Benet and his clan who took over the raising of the little ones until they reached the age to care for themselves. In time, Avi chose to join his Uncle and adopted family in the trading business while Korre took to exploring her new world.

For the next several decades she plumbed the depths of both the Alpha and Beta quadrants, returning home often with tales and tid-bits of her adventures.
Starfleet History As she neared her hundred-year mark, the urge to settle to a more organized life began making its way through Korre’s being. Not quite ready to give up wandering, she spent a time working with the Benét company, becoming familiar with her ‘aunt’ Jocelyn – a decorated Fleet Ranger. As much as she admired the woman, Korre could not see herself as officer material. Sure, she could follow basic directions, but at the end of the day, she was her own person. Surprisingly, Joss had a solution: the fleet didn't take just official sorts. There was room for civilians in the ranks as well. Considering her strengths, Korre decided to try for a position in the service field. After some time, she worked her way up from dishwasher to server, and then to Bar Manager aboard the USS Galileo.
Medical History Korre has suffered her share of injuries over the years, and while Federation medical works wonders, her body likes to remind her of the physical cost of life experience. Fortunately, she suffers little more than the occasional aches and pains of years tempered by the physical health and well-being of a woman in the youthful prime of life.
