Mission: Episode 10 - Symposium
Location: USS Galileo, Deck 4, Room 2624 JO
Timeline: MD 80

ON:

It took several days before Wintrow was finally used to being on station again, and it took the same several days before he finally headed home to his quarters back on the Galileo. He was looking forward to showing his roommate where he'd been. He had a whole album of pictures - he did love to have something tangible so he had printed them - to show her, and of course....information. He had tons of data for her - nothing classified of course. Nothing really usable about the fold ship except a few pictures. "Marika?" he called as he stepped inside, "are you home?"

Hearing something from inside the bathroom, Marika stepped out, comb in hand, working on her long hair. "You're back!" She squealed in delight and ran up to him ready to embrace her favorite roommate.

Allowing the intended embrace, Wintrow just spread his arms and wrapped them around her when she came close enough. "I've been back a few days now, just not back aboard Galileo," he confessed, "did you do anything fun during your leave?"

Marika let out a laugh. "You should know by now that fun is not something I ever lack." She winked at him and grinned as she stepped back. "If your very nice, I'll even tell you about it." She stuck out her tongue playfully and threw the comb on her bed.

She took another step back and looked him over. "What happened to you sweet prince? You have an air. I like it."

"I've been to Akkadia," the youth replied, "and I got to fly a sky ship..." He showed her the crystal miniature Wyndi had given him. "I got some odd looks, because there, males are not pilots..."

"Every odd look is a badge, every confused face a medal! So say I." She giggled some. "Well, you should fly more often, seems to do your confidence some good! I'm glad." She hugged him once more with obvious joy. "Akkadia... what was that like? Tell me everything!"

Wintrow told her about the several planets they visited and pulled out the pictures. "I took lots of pictures so I could show you and do it justice," he said, "only where I was permitted to though...there were some places where they'd rather not. So of course I didn't." He pulled out a PADD too. "This is for you."

"Yay!" Grabbing the PADD with much excitement, Marika quickly looked through it's content. "This is great. Thank you!" She hugged him once more, this time a little longer. "You are very lucky the nice doctor invited you. I hope you thanked her properly!" Marika gave him a faux-suspicious look, then quickly giggled.

"Oh yes I did...especially when she let me fly the fold ship..." He clapped his hand over his mouth in shock, eyes widening. "I'm not sure I should've told you that," he murmured apologetically. "I'm not sure I can talk about that."

She made a face, then smiled and gently poked his nose. "Don't worry sweet prince. Your secret is safe with me." Pushing him to his bunk, she promptly sat with him, legs tucked beneath herself. "Sooooooooo, tell me more, about what your allowed to, not the other stuff, unless you really want to, I'm great with secrets, but I don't want you to get in trouble wither, so whatever you can tell me is fine, but I really really really really really really really really really really want to more more. Did you meet interesting people? What did you see? How many moons are there? Do they talk funny? What does their food smell like?" She stopped as abruptly as she had started, obviously expecting him to respond.

Startled by her sudden barrage of questions, Wintrow wasn't even aware of being pushed backwards until he true and well sat down and she sat down next to him. "Well....there were several moons and worlds that we visited, some too cold to stay for too long unless dressed for the arctics..." he started, then told her what he'd seen and done without treading into details about the fold ship. "Wait..."

He got up, retrieved what looked like an old fashioned photo album then plopped it down onto her lap and leaned close to point out the pictures as he told her what was on them. "Their food...is odd... the oddest thing I had was something called bloodbread. It was somewhat bland and odd tasting and most things were actually fluids. They're not used to outsiders there you see...and I got a lot of stares for well...being me and even more for being a pilot." He chuckled somewhat shyly. "Not a whole many blond-haired, almost black-eyed males on that planet...especially not hybrids like me. But I had a great time and uh...one of the pilots even tried to uh..." His cheeks flushed scarlet. "Seduce me, I think... I'm still not quite sure..."

"Why so unsure?" Lifting an eyebrow, Marika smirked and playfully, but gently, punched his shoulder. "You're a beautiful person. Cute, great personality, and sweet like a Rigelian candy stick. What's there not to fall for? I'm sure she was all over you. But knowing you, you were as clueless as a Betazoid snail."

"Well I think she was...and when I offered her her own bed and to sleep on the couch she was all about sleeping in it together which to me..I don't know...it just seemed wrong. Especially when there's uhm... Abbey...but I'm not sure where I stand with her either you know?" The young Betazoid truely was clueless, especially when it came to women. "I just..." He licked his lips uncertainly. "I don't know how to be with a girl?"

Marika cocked her head slowly to the right and observed the young man before her intently. He was so ... fragile. Innocent, despite what she understood had been a rather ... difficult childhood. It was perhaps exactly why she felt compelled to him. Her eyes softened and her smile warmed. "It really should just come naturally you know. You simply need to let yourself. Don't think about it so much. Just let it be. Whatever needs to come out, will."

"Eventually," Wintrow agreed with a smile, "with the right girl? Assuming I will meet the right girl. Who knows, I never might..."

Nodding, Marika gently poked him. "Your right. It could be the right guy. The right gender neutral person, or the right shape-shifting multi gendered empathetic triplets!" Her eyes wide, her hands shook with a desire to tickle him... but as she stared at him, her heart grew fonder, and for a moment she felt like kissing him. But she knew it would be mistaken for something else, and so refrained. "So tell me more about Abbey.."

"Abbey? She's about my age, just a few years older..." He continued to describe Abbey Wyatt, telling her how exactly they met, how she'd ended up saving his life and how they had spent some time together before they had been disabled by a stun grenade. He also told her how a phaser had gone off between them and had knocked them both out. "She's really nice," he finished awkwardly. Awkward, because he thought Marika was very nice too!

"I'm sure she is." She smiled at him fondly. "At least I imagined she was considering you spent a lot of time visiting her in the brig... then in her quarters. I even heard someone say you went out on a date with her." She said the last bit teasingly. "Oooooo! That reminds me. I have a bottle of Bajoran Ice Wine for her. Straight from my neighbors vineyard! It's just great. Maybe she'd like to share it with you...?" She wiggled her eyebrows mischievously, her smirk sprinkled with a hint of naughty.

"I don't drink," Wintrow protested feebly, "so she would've had to drink it all alone. I'm...underage, remember?" He got an idea though. "Maybe you could share it with her? She could use a few more friends on this ship..."

Marika looked at her friend funny for a moment, then skipped back into it. "That was my innitial plan, just thought I'd offer you another option." She wiggled her eyebrows some more and continued. "But yeah. I did promise Abbey I'd bring some to her, and I had palnend on drinking it with her." She shruged lightly. "Not this Abbey of course, but I decided to transfer all previous possibilities to this one."

"I appreciate it," the young man answered, forcing a smile, "and you should do it. I won't be offended if you would, I've no special claim on her." Only a good crush...

The Bajoran peered at Wintrow with an grin. "Now see... when young men say that, what they really mean is they wish they did." She giggled and playfully poked him. "I just want to give the girl a chance to make friends . . if she even knows the concept. So don't feel threatened now." She poked him a few other times for good measure and giggled some more.

"Me? Threatened? What for?" He shuffled away a little. "Will you please stop doing that? Please?"

Marika did as he asked and observed him for a moment. "I hope you remain this way forever Wintrow. Well, perhaps a tad bit more confidence in yourself would be good. But otherwise stay you. I have a feeling it'll bring you much more happiness than you could believe."

With that she let herself drop off the bed, and proceeded to roll a few times, until she found herself near the center of the room, staring at the ceiling, her legs held up straight in the air.

"I've no intention of changing who I am now," Wintrow told her as he watched her in curious surprise. "Why are you lying in the middle of the room, with your legs sticking up?" He tilted his head slightly as he continued to observe her. "Is this a kind of challenge or exercise I'm unfamiliar with?"

"The better question is, why are you still on your bed and nopt on the ground with me doing the same? " Giggling, the young woman stared at her feet for a moment, before rolling back on her feet and jumping as high as she could. "Ooooo! Do you want to go raid the Quartermaster's stash? I hear he's hiding genuine pistachio, green jelly and lilac ice cream!"

"Uhm.....I don't think that'd be a good idea Marika...we'd get into huge trouble..." He didn't want to be a spoil sport. "I don't think Ells will appreciate his quarters or office getting broken into. He's my friend...and I owe him a great deal."

Blowing him a rasberry, marika winked at him. "Party pooper!" Yet the twinkle in her eyes proved she didn't see him as such. Or at the very least, she didn't hold him rigor for it. "All right then. Let's look at some photo's and you can tell me about them." She deftly pushed herself back onto the bed and grined. "I want aaaaaaaall the details!."

"And you'll have them," Wintrow smiled, plonking the album down onto her lap.
