Mission: Episode 10 - Symposium
Location: Akkadia - House Warraquuim
Timeline: MD44: 1500

On:

Allyndra wondered how everyone of her comrades off the ship had fared so far. She had been far too busy with dealing with Mother Ryaldi and the workings of the House to keep up.

She felt bad that she had more or less abandoned them to strangers but now the thrust of the reason that had cut short the visit to Hulibri was now manifest. Mother Ryaldi had gone to meet the Twins and as Mother named she was now the Head of House Warraquim. She placed a hand on her tummy, that had been enough problems but the fact that she needed to make a matron flight soon was another. She did not want to cut short the time they had here but she needed to bring them up to speed on what had happened and was going to transpire. Thus she had called for her friends to return and had sent servants to make sure they were freshened and to bring them to the these quarters.

Technically she should have occupied Ryaldi's quarters but there were still full enough of personal items that even now were being sorted, packed or distributed. The guest quarters here were only a small step down and she felt more comfortable here. So she waited for her friends to arrive standing by the tall doors that were open letting the sea breeze in. A primal part of her screamed to take to the air, to fly off to the sea but mind still ruled body.

First to arrive, Wintrow walked in, a worried frown on his face. "Allyndra...are you alright? Wyndi said I had to return as fast as I could. Did something happen?"

A few minutes later, Tuula arrived. When she was summoned, she was enjoying herself at one of the Irsemia houses. While the others there didn't want her to leave, the moment that she heard that Allyndra needed her, she was practically out the door.

"Allyndra," she called out, rolling in, wearing her traditional Akkadian clothing accessorized with some of her unique fashion items. Her hair was blue with a shock of pink, the fourth or fifth new colour this trip. "Is everything all right?"

Allyndra stood, "I do appologize for the abruptness. Mother Ryaldi has gone to the Twins." She realized that they might not know what that meant. "She has passed from this mortal world."

"I'm sorry..." said Tuula, in a sympathetic voice. "If there is anything we can do for you..."

"She had long and good life," Allyndra said and then pressed on. "Unfortunately I did not have a chance to dissuade her in time. She named me Mother named. What that means is she hand picked me to take her spot as the Head of the Guild. I am not ready for that, nor am I ready to resign from Fleet in order to do so but......" She looked specifically at Tuula. "It also gives me a chance though to push our world forward. This House carries much weight on the Council. Then there is my current condition, I must either make a matron flight soon or not. Thus I need my friends advice on what to do."

"What does that mean?" Wintrow asked curiously, reaching to touch her hand in an attempt to comfort her, "taking the matron flight, it sounds important but what does that mean?"

Allyndra smiled. "We do not carry our young like your kind does. We lay them in the shallows of the sea where they hatch. If I do not make a fight soon they will be reabsorbed. One of my dilema's the other being wondering what to do about being given the reigns of the House. I do not think I am ready to resign my spot in Fleet yet."

"Then you shouldn't," Wintrow suggested as he shifted closer to her, "and these eggs, they're important to you aren't they? Then you should lay them...." The young cadet shook his head and sighed. "I can't advise you of any other matters, sadly. I don't know what it's like to be the head of the family...even though technically, I suppose I am...sort of..."

"What I think the cadet means to say," interrupted Tuula, "is that you should consider what is important to you. Allyndra," she said, pausing for emphasis, "you've been a great mentor and I will miss you dearly if you leave. But if you feel that tending to the affairs of the House in person is more important than your Starfleet career, you should follow your heart. And as for the eggs..."

Tuula took a deep breath. Her own medical history had given her strong opinions on the subject, but she knew that everyone had to make their own decisions. "As for the eggs, there is no shame in choosing to bear or not to bear young at any time."

Allyndra listend. "I guess I fear the heartbreak of what if like last time none return. Could I handle that. As for heading the House. It was given to me but......" she smiled. "I have looked into the records and while it has not been done in millennia, there was a time when things being more unsettled there was something like what your world would call a regency. A local council that would deal with the day to day. I would retain full and final authority."

She looked at Win, "Well little brother, I have no close male relative, traditionally there is a bit of recitation that a husband, or male relative gives so would you be willing?"

"I would," Wintrow said without pause, drawing closer to her, "and we're here to help you. How long before they hatch after laying? Why not wait and see if they come back?" His questions were purely asked out of curiosity and ignorance; he didn't know any better. But he did want to understand.

"That would be a year before they return. No, much else to do. Now let me show you two something."
