Mission: Episode 06 - Legend of Souls
Location: USS Galileo - Deck 2, Executive Officer's Office
Timeline: MD09, 10:30hours

ON:

Lt. Amynta Markos frowned as she rang the chime, reaching to adjust her hair. This was it. For all that she had on her plate right now, truth was that this was something she had taken time to do in her own time. And damn it, she was almost angry with it. It mattered to her. Hell. It more than mattered to her, this was personal. Someone in her staff could have gotten away with murder. And it would be betraying everything she stood for.

Blake glanced up from her desk, frowning as she stopped tapping on her computer. Her office had been somewhat of a haven against the tribbles, for some reason she had never worked out. But now, they were finding their way in, and she was in less than a good mood for it. "Come in."

Amynta walked in, making sure she didn't bring a tribble in. She watched Blake before moving over to the other woman, holding her eyes. "I need to talk to you about Ensign Faye."

Scarlet blinked at the no nonsense opening, sitting back slowly with a sigh before motioning to the seat opposite. "Then you'd better talk about him."

She sat down, watching Blake before shaking her head. "A few days ago, I found out that Faye had been using his duty shift and the department's resources to investigate a murder on the USS Chesapeake whilst he served there. The victim was Lieutenant Tyrek. I gathered they were in a relationship at the time. I got...angry and curious. So I started looking into it. I..." she stopped and watched her, holding his eyes. "Ensign Faye was deemed not a suspect because of his mental state after the murder, as well as defensive wounds on his hands. However...I think that the wounds were self inflicted and that Ensign Faye is the killer. Based on the lack of defensive wounds on Lt. Tyrek, he knew and trusted his killer. And...and there's something not right with Faye, Blake. He is the right height, weight and he is left handed too. He was at the murder scene but remembers...well. Nothing, apparently."

"Nothing," Blake said softly, her eyes narrowing slightly in thought as she sat back to watch her, her attention well and truly caught. "Nothing at all?"

Amynta shook his head before letting out a breath. "Not as far as he told the counsellor, who believed him," she said and watched Blake. "I got a bad feeling about him. I can't...describe it."

Scarlet rubbed the bridge of her nose in clear consideration. She had a few thoughts as an ex-counsellor, but she kept them to herself for the moment, not wanting to influence Markos' investigation. Because there was no doubt that was what was needed. "Have you spoken to Security yet?"

"No, I wanted your approval before doing this," Markos admitted as she watched her. "I've already overstepped by...looking into it on my own."

"You're instincts were good, Markos," Blake said firmly, looking to her with darkened eyes, her jaw set firmly. "If we have a security risk onboard, I want to know about it."

"A possible one," Amynta admitted as she held her eyes. "Shall I bring this to Lieutenant Wyatt then? I suspect counselling and medical will have to have a look at him."

"Absolutely," Scarlet nodded gently to her, concern written all too clearly on her usually calm features. "I trust you to keep this discreet in the meantime. We don't want any rumours when we don't know what happened."

"Of course," she said as she held Blake's eyes, nodding. "I will go and see Wyatt at once. The sooner this can be investigated, the better."

"Thank you for your hard work," Scarlet said firmly, wanting her to know she had noticed. Markos was now running this, as well as having been down in the mine when all hell had broken loose, and running the investigations into the administrative section of the colony.

Markos nodded as she stood, a small smile pulling at her lips. "I'd have sympathy towards Hex. I'm driving her hard given that my Assistant Chief ia on maternity leave."

Blake nodded with a small but knowing smile at the attitude, opening her computer back up. "Keep me updated, Lieutenant."

"Yes, Commander," Markos said with a nod before leaving, knowing where she was heading next. The ball needed to roll...and damn, she had a lot to do.
