Episode 06 - Legend of Souls

Timeline: MD09 - 13:00
ON:
Lt. Amynta Markos rolled her shoulders for a moment. So she had informed the CO and XO of her suspicions. This led her to the second thing she had to do...tell Security. And she knew today was going to be busy, so sometimes it was just...best to go there.
She walked into Security, knowing that Wyatt's shift had started. "Lt. Wyatt? Do you have a moment?" she asked, searching his eyes.
Luke looked up from the stash of phasers bundled up on the work top he and a few others had been trying to repair "Yes sure, just let me a minute to finish up here. My Office is already open help yourself to a drink and a seat" He said wiping his hands with a rag.
"Thank you," she nodded and moved through, getting herself some coffee before sitting down.
After giving the rest of his team a break he carried his shirt with him into the office and began putting it on. "How can I help you Lieutenant" He asked walking round behind his desk.
"I believes that a member of my department, Ensign Tyrion Faye, killed a Lieutenant Tyrek," Amynta said bluntly, holding his eyes for a long moment before offering the PADD over to him. "Based on the evidence from the USS Chesapeake. The counsellor managed to rule him out due to the psychological trauma. I think he faked it, or is suppressing the memories. I have informed the CO and XO of this and they allowed me to take it to you."
Luke looked to the lieutenant and recalled a previous encounter "Wait, so now you're telling me Ensign Faye killed Lieutenant Tyrek... I must say this is now turning into a blame game" He said taking the PaDD and also reaching into his desk for the one Ensign Faye had given him. "He came in earlier and was convinced someone else had murdered him" He added handing her the PaDD.
She looked at the list, frowning slightly. "No, I am not convinced it was Johnson. I...look..." she leant closer to him, holding his eyes. "Cause of death was a single stab wound, to the heart. No defensive wounds, physically no sign of Tyrek struggling. Whoever it was trusted...trusted the killer with all he was and never saw it coming," she said bluntly. "He is the right height, weight and he is left handed. His DNA was at the crime scene too. Sure, I know a lot of people's DNA was there, but...his was prominent."
He shook his head "That could mean anything, he could have been there all day and his DNA would have been prominent, as for the stab wound then did you think that the killer simply surprised him? Im not sticking up for the guy but he seemed pretty confident it was someone else" He said.
"And I am pretty confident it was him. If I am wrong, then fine...but still, I think he should be investigated," she said as firmly, holding his eyes. "And when was the last time you saw a Vulcan get surprised?"
Luke didn't have to answer her last question it was true that both stories had their flaws but he had to look at it objectively. "The matter is already under investigation, if its possible would you look over this version of the story for me? Maybe we can work together to get to the bottom of this."
She watched him, hesitating for a moment. "I am wondering if I am too...emotionally involved in this now," she admitted, moving to his side. "I can give you what has been gathered. Ideally, he should see a counsellor to be...evaluated. And a medical to see if someone has tampered with him?" She wanted to do this properly and as by the book as possible.
He shook his head "I'd like to keep this in house I don't want to be spreading rumours and you know how they go on these small ships, however I feel my better judgement would agree with you."
"Well, a medical check up and a counselling session can be kept low key," she said as she met his eyes. "Wyatt, we can keep this in the shadows. I have no issue with it. Call it whatever you want. You have the files...review them alone if it makes it easier, or get someone you trust in your department."
He nodded and heeded her words "Ok, I'll talk to the counsellor and one of the medical staff I don't want to bring this to the attention of him or the other chiefs I'll be including Ensign Rice she's my most trusted" He stood up "If there is anything? I clearly have a busy day.
"Nothing at all. And...thank you, Wyatt..." Markos said and stood, giving him a nod before leaving his office.
