Mission: Episode 06 - Legend of Souls
Location: USS Galileo: Deck 4 - Thorne's Quarters
Timeline: MD07 - 12:55

ON:

Verity smiled weakly as he cleared the other side of the small, shared quarters. He was getting his third new roommate of recent days. Another person to have to explain his personal belongings and shrine to...and hope they didn't think he was completely mad, or that they'd take offence. He chuckled, shaking his head. He stood back to look at his work, deciding he'd done a good job of cleaning his new roommate's side of the room all the same. Hopefully that would make up for having an odd roommate in him.

There was a knock on the door before it opened and Oliver Sylver entered, giving Verity a warm smile. "Oh thank God it's you..." he said, moving to him and pulling him close to kiss.

"Mmmm!" Verity blinked with shock at Oliver's entrance and kiss. He had no idea that he was back on the Galileo. He wrapped his arm around the back of his neck as he pulled up close against him, kissing him deeply with relief. "Oliver? Missed you...." he laughed breathlessly, hugging him tightly with need. "I didn't know you were back, I'd have met you!"

Oliver smiled as he stroked over his cheek, searching his face with awe. "I just came back...wasn't sure when we would come in," he admitted, shaking his head. "I missed you, beauty. How have you been?"

"Pretty miserable and boring without you around," Verity assured with a soft laugh, holding him close as he brushed his cheek to his, taking a deep breath against his hair for his scent. "What about you?"

"I'm good," he said as he smiled, stroking over his sides. "I'm here. It wasn't anything special, they just needed someone with my...expertise." He pulled back, so he could watch Verity's face. "Someone must have remembered we were room mates before because I was told I was bunking with you again."

Verity's smile brightened at that and he slapped his hip with warmth, looking down with relief. "Perfect," he whispered. "At least I know you won't ask me to get rid of my stuff," he laughed to him, his eyes shining with happiness at having him back.

Oliver nodded at that, letting out a soft breath as he leant closer, to kiss him again. "I missed you so much," he said softly. "More than I can explain."

Verity smiled softly, closing his eyes as he enjoyed just feeling the strong body close, his hand stroking up between them to feel the broad chest. "I wasn't sure where we stood. Things were still...new when you left."

"I know...I wasn't sure either. But," he touched Verity's cheek, with a small smile. "I hoped you didn't mind this. Me. Back again. No matter what you want to do."

"Mind?" Verity laughed warmly, shaking his head, kissing him quickly to silence him. "I've been moping like a teenager."

Oliver held him close, deepening the kiss before breaking it. "Good, because I've kept thinking about you. A lot. All the time."

Verity laughed softly at that, tracing the line of his jaw with affection. "I don't see how, you have the looks of a holofilm star..."

"Film or porn?" he teased before shaking his head, with awe. "You're so beautiful. I missed you. I missed our talks."

Verity smiled brightly at the words, his eyes shining with it as he took his hand and led him to sit down on the bed with him, stroking his knee. "Same," he admitted. "You seemed to like listening...and yet you have so much to say."

Oliver watched him for a long moment, reaching to stroke over his cheek. "Listening to you makes me happy. And if...my experiences are relevant, I can offer them."

"I'd rather listen to you," Verity admitted with a soft laugh, shaking his head, his grin showing it was true. "You're an amazing guy. I've seen it even more with your absence."

Oliver visibly reddened as he smiled, holding his eyes. "I...don't have anything interesting to say. Except...how much I missed you. And this. And..." he leant close, his smile positively cheeky as he leant to kiss him. "This."

Verity laughed warmly, his fingers caressing up the line of his jaw, relearning him. "Not that we got to much of that before you had to go."

"Well, that's...something we should work on," he said with a grin, turning his head to kiss the fingers. "If you want. If you want, Verity. Beautiful Verity." He watched him with awe. Truth was, he hadn't had a single day where he had not been thinking about Verity. About how he smiled. His eyes. How sad he could look. And everything he felt that went with it.

Verity positively grinned at the words, shaking his head with near embarrassment as he met his eyes. "You could have your pick of the belles, flyboy."

"I pick you," he admitted as he watched Verity, stroking over his side. "I pick you, Verity Thorne."

Verity swallowed hard past the tightening in his throat at the words. He hadn't heard it before. His confidence with love had shattered with the incident that had led to him leaving the priesthood. It was hard to trust it again. It was hard to trust love, but he trusted Oliver. "I was sure you'd find someone else while you were out saving the galaxy," he finally teased, his wide smile betraying the humour.

"Never," he said and smiled gently, shaking his head. "I...we have a connection, Verity. Emotionally. Physical too. Truth is, you...you make me feel good. And make me want to be a better man. You're...all I've ever dreamt of. Isn't...that enough for me to pick the beauty before me?"

Verity's breath caught at the words, almost unable to take in the depth of them. He smiled, warmly, with clear gratitude that he'd said it out loud. "Well I'm not going to say no and push you away to someone else, Oliver, I'm far too selfish for that," he teased, a grin appearing on his features.

Oliver searched his eyes, taking him in for a moment before nodding, grinning back. "Okay. So...we don't have to worry. We shouldn't worry. We...promise each other this."

Verity took a deep breath with it, nodding. It was a big step. After everything that had happened before, falling in love, having to leave the priesthood over it, over someone who had just been playing games with him. It was difficult for him to trust again, in love anyway. But Oliver....he made it too easy. "Just enjoy each day as it comes."

Oliver gave a nod of encouragement and leant close, to hug him tightly. It was all they could do for each other, one day at a time. "Thank you," he whispered, taking a shaky breath at how right it felt to hold Verity.

"You're sure you're okay?" Verity whispered with concern, touching his cheek as he watched him tenderly. "You weren't hurt on your mission?"

He met his eyes for a long moment before smiling gently. "I'm here. I'm okay, I promise."

Verity frowned at the words, his thumb caressing up the line of the high cheek bone. "That's not an answer," he whispered softly.

For a moment, Oliver just watched him before he smiled, leaning close to kiss him. "Just a scrape," he assured, stroking his neck. "I promise, just a scrape."

Verity leant into the caress, his eyes closing with the warmth as he tried not to get distracted. "Your idea of a scrape is probably different to mine...."

He smiled at that before leaning to kiss his neck. "It was a mild concussion. Healed within minutes," he said to Verity, stroking over his back.

Verity laughed softly at the feel of his lips against the sensitive curve of his neck. "You're distracting me," he whispered, but his tone indicated he didn't really care.

"Mm...I am distracting myself too," Oliver admitted, stroking firmly over his side. "You smell good."

Laughing breathlessly, Verity shook his head lightly, even as he managed to still lean into the sensation with a strangely shy smile. "Don't go away again," he whispered, his arm wrapping almost protectively around the back of his neck.

"Promise," Oliver whispered, stroking over his hair. "I promise, beautiful Verity. I am going nowhere."
