Mission: Episode 03 - Frontier
Location: USS Galileo - Deck 2 - Holodeck 2
Timeline: MD 10 21:30

ON:

Lt. Rhodes entered the holodeck at 2130 to check on the status for the party. He stopped just inside the door and looked at the setting and was rather impressed. It was set in an American Barbeque Theme.

Mormont had worked hard to get it together on limited time. There was Long Island Iced Tea in massive jugs, bottled beer and pretty much every sort of BBQ that Amon could think of. And considering he was an Englishman, his inspiration had been the popular culture on Earth. So maybe it was all a bit tacky, but he wanted it to be like that. He had encouraged that people showed up in civilian clothing, or if not, at least removed the rank insignia. Which Amon had done.

He spotted his Chief enter and let out a breath as the music started playing. 20th Century rock music, but there was a long list of songs queued up that would change it. All depending.

Rhodes stepped over to Mormont, "Well Amon, it looks like things are ready to go."

"It is," Amon admitted as he looked at him, giving a small smile. "Expecting people to arrive any minute now. Feeling like the kid arranging the school dance, me."

Theron smiled slightly on one side of his mouth. "Do not worry. This is a relaxed setting." He looked around at the preparations that had been made, then back at Amon. "You have done well. From the Earth history and cultural texts I have read, this looks like a mid-west-American meat burning establishment." He raised his eyebrows, questioning if he was close.

Amon smiled as he looked at him, giving a small shrug. "I do try. I mean, it's all based on movies," he confessed, looking around as he smiled.

"Well Amon," Theron began, "It looks like you have tings well in hand. I will come back after my shift is over. You guys have a great time."

Amon smiled as he nodded, his eyes gentle. "And you better have fun too, Sir. You don't smile enough nowadays."

"Right!" Gabriel clapped his hands and rubbed them together as he moved inside to the summer sun, grinning at the mixture of warmth and smells. "Direct me to the cocktails, or champagne, or cider, or all of the above!" he declared.

Amon smiled warmly when he saw Gabriel, his eyes warm. "Long Island Iced Tea, Mr Stark...because I know you well enough by now," he said, moving to pour Gabriel a glass.

"Perfectus," Gabriel grinned, moving quickly to fetch the cocktail from him. He'd taken notice of the dresscode and left his uniform at home, putting on some black jeans and a red shirt instead. "And just Gabriel will do, if we're not ranks today."

Camibree Christoph entered the holodeck hesitantly. Parties were her kind of fun, but a security party seemed odd to her. She wore a loose fitting off white blouse with open sleeves that angled at the elbow. The dark red pants went just past the knee. They were quite form fitting. She actually enjoyed showing off her figure and teasing those of the male persuation. Simple flat sandles finished off her attire. She had let out the braids of her dark brown hair. She had had a difficult time getting it to calm down after being braided for so long. Spray hair soft did miracles and it was now hanging straight about her shoulders and back.

Bree looked right and left getting her barings and looking for the bar. First things first, she always said. She walked up behind Stark, "What's it take for a lady to get refreshments around here?" she asked jokingly with a smile.

"Mm!" Gabriel finished his mouthful of his own drink before smiling, moving closer to the table. "You've got to try the Long Island cocktail, it is lethal," he laughed warmly, pouring a glass and offering it over with a smile, his dark eyes shining. "Amon, showing his manly prowess at the bbq, has pretty much everything covered by the looks of it."

"Sounds great." Bree replied and reached for a neck of a bottle sticking up out of some ice. "Ooo, longnecks. First class, eh?" and lifted the opening to her lips.

"Well this ~is~ the Galileo, don't you know," Gabriel teased with a grin, his eyes darker with the humour. "Nothing but class, class, class here."

Amon smiled warmly as he looked at Bree, his eyes warm. "Please, start eating and drinking...I think there's way too much for our department to consume..."

Bree smiled again, raising her longneck bottle, "definitely my kind of party." and took a long draw on the bottle.

Amon nodded, looking around as he let out a breath. "Fingers crossed that people actually will show up though. We do have some pretty amazing corn on the cob..."

"Mine!" Gabriel leant forward to steal one from the grill, accompanied by a 'ha ha' when it was hot to hold.

At the completion of Beta shift, Rhodes left the bridge after Petty Officer Christoff relieved him. After a quick change of clothing in his quarters he appeared at the holodeck at precisely 12:11. Theron walked in and looked around at the continuing party. It was full of noise and laughter and music.

Rhodes walked by the drinks in ice and picked up a bottle of yellow colored beer. Not the most appealing to him, but he was sure it would be okay, if nothing else that appearances as he walked around. He received nods and "Evening Sir." from the security members. He walked up to Amon and gave him a nod, "It looks like things are going well."

Amon nodded, looking around as he smiled gently. "I think people are slow to warm up, but..." he shrugged, his eyes shining. "Amazing what some food and drink does to ease people."

Several other crewmen from Beta shift then entered the party. Their faces seemed to light up when they saw the sights and sounds within the room.

At one point Theron heard some music that he recognized. He turned and looked upon a large vid screen on one wall. A band was playing on stage in what appeared to be a stadium that could hold 20 or 30,000 in the audience. He couldn't quite place the tune, but he recalled it from listening to music from Earth's history files.

"I like it!" Gabriel laughed as he moved closer, dancing easily with the music, but never spilling any drink. It was far too precious for that. He sipped it easily, even as he moved. "Me and some others were talking. We should have a bar on Galileo! Can you imagine, our work would be so much more interesting..."

"Maybe we should ask the Captain for one," Amon laughed softly, shaking his head as he looked at Gabriel. "You know, some smaller ships actually convert spare space to a rec area for their crew. I think the Galileo is too big to justify it though."

"You just want to clear everyone out on the poker table," Gabriel grinned, pointing to Amon. "I can spot 'em, you know," he said with playful accusation, his eyes narrowed.

Amon smiled as he held his hands up, his eyes shining as he watched him. "Me? Hardly..." he moved closer to Gabriel, fondly touching his shoulder. "But if I did, I'd buy you something pretty..."

"Hmm - definitely worth it then," Gabriel grinned, shaking his head with a soft laugh, sighing as he danced lightly, sipping his drink artfully even as he moved. "Now this is what I call team building. Much better than slogging through a boot camp, or trying to solve puzzles whilst trying not to kill each other in a fit of frustration and irritation."

One of the other crewmen smiled as he got himself a drink, nudging Gabriel. "It's all pretty cool! Now, let's crank the music up and get some dancing going too, right?"
