Location: USS Galileo: Deck 2 - Observation Lounge

OLD:

"Wow, a fire cracker with a phaser?" Verity laughed softly, watching her with shining eyes as he tried to imagine it of the young, slender woman.

Aria laughed warmly and blushed, holding his eyes. "I like to think that I am not that bad...I mean, that violent! But yeah, pretty much, scary, huh?"

"I'll be sure to watch myself," Verity said in a stage whisper, his smile mischievous.

NEW:

"I am sure you are very well behaved, Verity," Aria said and sipped her drink, her eyes warm as she studied him with curiosity.

"Well I won't have you running around on a chase anyway," Verity assured softly, watching her with a playful smile.

Aria arched an eyebrow playfully, biting her lip. "I can run...if I have something fun to chase."

"Even in those shoes?" he asked with a positively wide grin, pointing to the killer heals she had on her petite feet.

"Duh! Yes! Of course!" Aria laughed and shifted, lifting her leg to show off the high heels with the steel buckles. "Like them?"

"Love them," Verity assured with a warm smile, his eyebrows lifting as he studied them. "I would be impressed if you could chase down a bad guy in them."

She smiled as she watched him, chuckling softly. "I am sure I can...and they can be used as a deadly weapon too..."

"I can imagine, like one of those tacky detective holonovels," he grinned at the idea of it, in black and white and all.

"Or a sleasy Risa bar," Aria said with a small smile, her eyes warm as she leant closer. "Who knows, huh?"

"I'm sure I wouldn't know what you mean," Verity said with an innocent smile before blinking lightly.

"Oh yeah right...the proper bars with the heavy music and half naked dancers...on and off stage..." she winked and smiled warmly. "Only been once and I got too drunk..."

"Sounds like you had a great time," he said with a knowing smile, laughing softly.

Aria smiled warmly as she looked at him. "Maybe I did..." she said lightly, holding his eyes for a long moment, curious as to his reaction to that.

"Of course you did. Risa....drink....high heels...great clothes..." Verity motioned to her with a smile.

Aria laughed warmly and looked down, shrugging. "Thank you," she looked at him with surprise. "A man who appreciates clothes and shoes..."

"Why shouldn't I?" he smiled softly, shaking his head with a small smile. "They suit you."

Aria held his eyes for a long moment before taking a breath. She smiled and placed her glass down. "Then dance with me...let's bring some life in here."

"I....am not good. Unless you want some ballroom," Verity warned with a laugh, but stood for her all the same, offering his hand out.

Aria smiled as she took the hand, standing. "Slow then," she said and smiled warmly. "I can dance slow...I can do ballroom too."

"Now where did you learn that?" he asked lightly, pulling her with him before keeping hold of her hand and resting the other one on her waist.

Aria smiled gently, straightening her posture even as she relaxed, to let him lead. "Dance classes," she said, her voice soft. "I was very good."

"The sophisticated young lady," Verity smiled warmly at that, leading them in a gentle, slow dance. "How very civilised!"

"And look what I did to it..." Aria said and gave a mock sigh before smiling brightly, shaking her head.

"I don't know, I think you're just a colourful sophisticate," he winked to her.

She smiled warmly as she watched him, searching his eyes with interest. "But what are you, Verity? A classic, yet unusual name....ballroom dancing...you sound like you're from Earth..."

"I am," he said softly as he moved smoothly with the light music being played. "I can't deny it. Born and raised. I think it's considered boring these days."

Aria smiled at the words, holding his eyes. "Good family?" she asked. She didn't know many men who knew how to ballroom.

"Now there's a difficult question. What does good mean?" he asked with a playful smile, but glanced down.

"Posh," she said softly. Her eyes shining as she let him lead her, enjoying the sensation.

"Perhaps," Verity said softly, clearly thinking about it. "What about you? You don't sound like you're from the 'mother country'."

"Luna," she admitted softly, her eyes warm as she chuckled. "Born and raised."

"Ah....a real space girl," he grinned at the prospect, laughing softly. Oddly, it suited her.

Aria laughed warmly and nodded. "Hell yes," she said and smiled as the music changed. "Can you tango?"

"Can I tango. Any man worth his salt should be able to tango," he teased, tugging her closer to a tango stance.

Aria watched him, moving her leg out as she watched him. "Then show me what you're worth then..." she said playfully.

Verity laughed softly at the challenge in her voice, gripping her tightly before leading her across the small floor, turning them sharply and lifting her slightly from the ground. "I'm worried about those shoes though...."

She smiled warmly, arching her body with it as she smiled. "I won't touch you with them...I promise..." she said and pressed closer even in the grip.

He let her down to the ground, forcing her to tip back into his arm, leaning tightly over her. "Good...they'd nail me to the floor...."

Aria held his eyes, her heart racing as she smiled. "There are other ways of bringing a man down..."

"I'm sure you know them all," he said lightly with a chuckle, pulling her sharply up and against him, turning them both quickly on the spot in one, fluid movement.

She closed her eyes, taking a breath as she moved her leg, deciding to make it more complicated. Footwork...she had always been good at that. She opened her eyes to meet his, holding them with warmth. "I know a lot of things."

"Clever, colourful girl," he said softly with a smile, his own leg curling lightly around hers.

She smiled at that, laughing at the challenge being met, holding his eyes for a long moment. "And you...a mystery."

Verity laughed softly, shaking his head as he pushed her gently, so she could turn out from him before tugging her back to turn into his arm and tight against his body. "Not really. You flatter me."

She smiled warmly, moving her arm to stroke down the length of hs. "I like flattering..." she said playfully.

"I think you like dancing too, you're very good at this," he smiled gently, his eyes shining.

Aria smiled warmly, her eyes shining. "I love dancing..." she said softly, moving her leg over his, sliding down with it...having to rely on his grip on her to keep her from falling.

Verity held her hands and wrists firmly, letting her move down the length of his body before turning her sharply to face away from him and pulling her back up to stand against his body, his arm sliding around her tiny waist to keep her close against him as he moved with her. He could tell she meant it, she really did love dancing. And he had the feeling it was more than just the physical kind. He was willing to bet this little fire cracker liked dancing on the very edge of life. The energy and optimism of youth, he gave a mental smile but also a fond smile. It would be okay though, he would just have to make sure to never let the girl fall.
