Aria smiled as she draped herself over the chair, smiling as she sipped her drink. She liked the lounge. It was still too quiet for her liking. She kicked her feet lightly, looking at her heels. Oh, she liked her heels. She hummed softly to herself...an old song she remembered her Dad singing to her.
A voice started to hum along, the man walking past her table to the one next to her with a small smile, carrying his triple scotch, swirling it lightly to jiggle the ice.
Aria turned her head to look at him with surprise, her eyes warm. "Hey...not many know that one," she said as she sat up properly, grinning.
"It's been a long time since I've heard it," Verity admitted with a warm smile to her. "I must have been a child."
She smiled at that before nodding. "My Dad used to sing it to me. He liked that sort..." she studied his face, her eyes warm. "It's been a while since I saw you last, Verity."
He reached across the gap between them, offering his hand as he smiled. "It's good to see you again, Aria."
She smiled brightly, holding his eyes. "Verity's an unusual name for a man," she said, with warmth as she took the hand, her grip firm.
"These days, perhaps," he chuckled, glancing down with a small smile. "You can call me V if you prefer."
"I like Verity," she said and smiled gently, arching an eyebrow. "Wanna sit with me, Verity?"
"Why not," he smiled gently, moving to her table to settle down into the seat next to her. "It's quieter than expected here."
She smiled as she sipped her drink. "I know...I think people here are too busy working..." she rolled her eyes, sighing. "I miss a good bar."
"Heaven forbid we should work too hard," Verity teased with shining eyes, watching with a warm smile.
She chuckled and nodded, her eyes warm. "You're the Chaplain, right?" she asked, clearly curious as she sipped her drink. A rather colourful cocktail.
"Yes," he smiled to her, holding her eyes as sipped his scotch carefully. "So the rumours say."
Aria leant forward as she looked him over, with interest. "So...which religion?"
"I can discuss many," Verity said with a smile, shaking his head. "I'm here to serve many people, not just one religion."
"Yes, but...which one are *you* personally?" Aria asked with interest, holding his eyes as she studied him. She had never really talked to a chaplain before. Never saw herself as religious. But...it was...well. He had a good smile and she was curious.
Verity tilted his head with a small smile of amusement. "Well, technically, Chaplains aren't necessarily any religion. But me? Personally? I'm Catholic."
"So are you a Priest then?" she asked as she finished her drink, smiling to him. "Don't look like a Priest..."
"I'm not a Priest," he shook his head with a small smile, glancing down. Not anymore at least. "I am here to help people with spiritual matters of all sorts, not just religions."
Aria nodded as she watched him, giving a small smile. "Well...I hope you get a lot of clients, Verity," she said and nudged him. "Want another drink? I am getting another one..."
"I'm on the scotch," he motioned to her with a smile. "But let me get them," he said firmly, standing up and taking her glass. "What is it?"
"Sex on the beach," she admitted and smiled warmly. "But you know what? I'll go for scotch too..."
"Whatever turns you on," he winked with a smile, moving away. He came back with two generous servings of 'scotch', sitting with her before offering his glass to tap to hers.
Aria watched him with awe, her eyes warm as she tapped hers to his. "A lot of things can," she said playfully and sipped her drink with a soft groan. "Strong...gosh, that is nice though."
"It's my vice," Verity admitted with a small smile, sipping his own. "It's amazing what we have created."
She held his eyes, her own warm. "We've created a lot of good...and bad. That is the balance of the universe..."
"Ah, so you ~are~ spiritual," he teased with a warm smile.
She looked at him as she genuinely considered it. "I...suppose I am in a way," she said and smiled warmly. "I mean, I believe in the balance of things."
"That's all it needs to be," he said softly, resting his chin in his hand for a moment. "People don't have to be religious to be spiritual."
Aria smiled at that before shrugging. "I suppose I don't think about it. Never been in a spot where I have had to rely on religion."
Verity watched her for a long moment before finally smiling warmly. "Good."
She smiled back to him, her eyes shining. "What about you? I mean, how did you end up doing this? And on the Galileo?"
"I wanted to do something that would be on a real, serving ship," he said lightly, holding her eyes with a warm smile. "What about you?"
"Just a straight forward transfer, me," Aria said and smiled warmly, shrugging. "I'm a security officer. I go where they want me."
"Wow, a fire cracker with a phaser?" he laughed softly, watching her with shining eyes as he tried to imagine it of the young, slender woman.
Aria laughed warmly and blushed, holding his eyes. "I like to think that I am not that bad...I mean, that violent! But yeah, pretty much, scary, huh?"
"I'll be sure to watch myself," Verity said in a stage whisper, his smile mischievous.
