Mission: Episode 03 - Frontier
Location: USS Galileo: LTjg Liyar's Office
Timeline: MD1 1300 Hours

ON:

Cyrus had found a couple potential recruits, including a suddon bio about a 'Sergei Petrov' forwarded by Stone. If all went well that would be three of the five individuals he needed beside the Security Personnel. He still needed to ask Pola about the Doctor, thought he knew exactly who he had in mind. Ensign Wilson was a hard, doctor that knew her stuff. If it was possibly he would try to recruit her, if not anyone else would be suitible. But that left an extra position, Science really didn't hold out too much hope due to Maenad's opinion of him, but it might be worth a try. The only other person he could think that would be interested would be his first ship friend: Liyar. But the man was a Lieutenant Junior Grade, essentially he was two ranks higher than Kiwosk. That might prove difficult when it came to giving orders. He sighed, he would first see if the Diplomat would be interested, if not than he would try someone else.

"Computer, Locate Lieutenant Junior Grade Liyar. "

Numbers. An unsurprising scenery, given what a few on board the Galileo would know about the Vulcan by now, although the main difference was that rather than a lab he was holed up in his office, surrounded by PADDs and whiteboards and holographic grids, bits and pieces of technology scattered about. He was sat in the middle of the room, on the floor. Contrary to popular belief about Vulcans, his office was far from spartan, the usual tone of work and settlement permeating the room like anything else. Memos, isolinear rods and other programs were sat on his desk, on the walls, on the floor. A reclamator was slightly full, but abandoned in favor of the components he was assembling on the ground. There was even a holovid on his desk, although its contents remained curiously blank.

After a while, the computer spit out his location easily. "Lieutenant Liyar is on Deck 4, personnel office: Lieutenant Junior Grade Liyar."

Thanking his luck that he didn't need to walk too far, he continued through the corridor to Liyar's office. the walk only took him a couple of minutes, but in that time Cyrus's mind was racing with new ideas and personnel he would like to see recruited into his team. As he approached the Vulcan's door he pressed the chime. "Lieutenant Liyar it's Kiwosk, would you mind if I spoke with you a minute concerning something important?"

Engrossed as he was in his calculations, Liyar started a little as the chime sounded like a red alert klaxon through his concentration. He stood, collecting his things. "Affirmative, Mr. Kiwosk. Enter," he called, and the door slid open to reveal his taller form arranging several black pieces of equipment back onto their shelves, though the rest of the area was still in disarray. He turned when he was done, hands clasped behind his back expectantly. As the doors slid open, Cyrus stepped through, instantly noticing the tall Vulcan behind his desk. "You're looking better since our last meeting. I'm glad to see." Gesturing to a chair Cyrus looked at his friend. "Do you mind if I sit down? Walking this ship can get a little tiring. Especially when you do it almost five.... eight times a day. "

Liyar bowed his head, motioning to the chair with a hand. He lowered himself into his own chair and rested his fingertips against his chin, leaning forward curiously. "It is highly unusual that you would seek me out while you are on patrol. Is something the matter?" he asked, even with the monitors around his wrists, he knew he would have felt it if a disturbance had happened through the ship large enough to warrant someone coming to get him.

Cyrus shook his head. "No nothing is wrong, but I do have a proposal for you." He smiled, clasping his hands together in front of him. "I assume you have heard that the Galileo is going to have a new Special Operations team for emergency procedures. " He began slowly, unsure of how he should really begin. "Well this team isn't only going to be Security based. I was hoping to assemble a team that has elements from a large majority of the other departments such as Medical, Engineering, Flight Control, Operations...and..." He let the sentence hang in the air for a few seconds before continuing. "Diplomacy is always important, and seeing how, in my opinion, you have adjusted so well to the ship. I was wondering if you would like to apply for a position. "

Blinking, Liyar lowered his head to balance it on his fingers, considering Cyrus's words internally. He ran through a few of the logical implications, recognizing that the position sounded a little more familiar to him than what he'd been doing before, although he wasn't quite clear what it would mean. "What would this position entail?" he asked, looking down to meet Cyrus's eyes calmly.

"Well, your job wouldn't be much different than the one you would do here. You would serve as a diplomatic element to the team, should we be able to talk the people out of combat, or provide an alternative to an on board situation. It's would allow you to deal with and negotiate, but it would normally be under tense, high stress situations with possible...probable combat scenarios. " He chuckled. "But seeing how you did on the Phaser practice, that seems to be right up your alley. "

"I have served with the V'Shar for many years," Liyar nodded and switched places with his fingers, bringing the fingers on the bottom to rest over the tops now. "If you believe that I am capable of assisting you in this matter, than I shall endeavor to assist," he Vulcan finally said.

"That's great news!" He grinned. " There is one thing to talk to you about if you do decide to join after the tests. " He took a breath, this part was probably the hardest. "I hope you aren't going to be offended about this, but.... Whereas I have been put in charge of this team, that means that even though you outrank me, I still technically am the one to call orders when the Tactical Response Team is called into action. Would that be an issue to you?" He asked carefully, telling a superior, even one that you are friends with, that they don't have rank over you in a certain situation doesn't normally go over well.

Liyar shook his head slightly. "Your experience in this matter is greater to mine," he said, looking back up to meet Cyrus's eyes. "Therefore, your authority is logical. There shall be no concern." Had Liyar thought him incompetent, on the otherhand, there would have been a major concern.

Cyrus sighed in pure relief. "Well, I'm glad that's done and out of the way. I wish I could talk longer Liyar." He stood up with his intention to leave. " I have to see who else is interested in my recruiting out of their departments. " He chuckled at the thought. "Medical shouldn't be too much of an issue, and I've already spoken with Ensign Peers down in Engineering, hopefully she'll find me a good candidate. "

"I am certain you will uncover any necessary assets," Liyar offered in a stoic attempt at being reassuring. He bowed his head to Cyrus in farewell.
