[ON]

Having checked in with his DH, getting a tour of the ship, has his room situation resolved and met some very interesting, not to mention attractive people, Jared was wanting to go to take advantage of Shore Leave while he had the chance, but first things first. After eating a hearty breakfast of oatmeal, waffles and bacon, Jared decided to visit sickbay to get himself checked out.

He had been to the doctor a number of times over the years, mostly for routine things, with the exception on an interesting bug he had picked up on Risa three years before. He had heard the old cliche that what happens or Risa, stays on Risa, but that had not been the case.

After a wild three day ' liaison ' with a cut and cute blonde surfer he had met on the beach he had left the resort only to come down with a painful, though thankfully treatable disease

He was in good health as far as he knew and assumed that this visit would be nothing more than routine, unless of course he was asked to remove his shirt, in which case questions about his scars would more than likely come up, but he would board that particular shuttle if it came along.

"I hope this morning is good for you if not me," Jessica looked up from a stack of hyposprays but didn't smile. Messy blonde hair strewn across her head she stood up to look at the man, "Do you have anything that needs a doctor?" Her voice slow and dour, rather glum in tone. If your job for the moment was to test all the hyposrapys though you might well be dour too.

"Not that I am aware of." he responded with a smile, "Just a routine boarding physical. One that a nurse could complete as far as I am concerned." He almost added especially an attractive one, but figured that would probably get him in trouble.

"Well hop on the bed before you catch gangrene," Jessica waved her hand and started to collect a few things on a tray before heading over to the newcomer.

Jared stepped up to the bio bed and sat down. "I'm Jared Nicholas," he said with a smile. And you?"

"Nurse Sandywyne will do," She glowered instead of a smile, "Any more than that and you risk getting yourself killed."

"I tend not to argue with someone with a hypospray in their hand, but why all the hostility? I was just trying to be friendly."

"I wasn't hostile, if I was you'd be dead," She gave a small smile and started to scan him with the tricorder, "People that know my name have a frightening tendency to not be long for the living."

"Well now you have me intrigued. I am quite the resourceful young man. I've been a target before and managed to survive. Besides I like a challenge."

"Everything is a challenge until you end up failing," Taking note of the scan she wrinkled her nose as she thought, "Have you eaten today?"

"I had breakfast, nothing since then, why?"

"You should eat more often, its not good for you. You also have a nasty bug running around in your long johns, we are going to have to take a look at that."

Jared blushed slightly, "I thought that had been dealt with sometime ago. I was treated for that back on Risa at the time, but they said it might come back and bite me in the... well you know what I mean."

"Well if I do my job properly then hopefully you'll get to keep it," Directing the scan there she raised her eyebrows, "Did they say what it was?"

"No they were fairly non-specific, only that it could be fairly serious if not treated. They gave me a hypospray injection, told me to stay away from guys I didn't know and told me everything should be fine, there should be no further repercussions.

And I would appreciate if you could take care of whatever it is. I really would prefer to keep all of my body parts. I've grown attached to them all."

"For the good of everyone on-board I hope you keep yourself to yourself for a while," Making note to notify a doctor for treatment she added "No sex or exchanging fluids for the next week." Treatment wouldn't be complicated just a refresher course of antibiotics. She was used to just dealing with problems like this but on a Starfleet ship she wasn't allowed, "Can I ask you some questions about your sexual health, if its a problem?"

He glanced over at her his expression now unreadable as she treaded into what he considered personal matters. Still she was a doctor, well a nurse, but still medical.

"What would you like to know?" he asked.

"When was the last time you had a partner you were intimate with?" She motioned her fingers across the pad as she made notes. While there would be more tests to find out what this was exactly these basic ones could help stop an outbreak before it started.

"Well, just so you know I'm not a slut. But to answer your question. The incident on Risa was about six months ago. There has only been one other incident since then. And I slept with my roommates at the Academy, just before being assigned here.

Jessica made a note that that room-mates would need to be contacted as well at some point soon. Moving down the check-list she asked more questions relating to his travel habits and the nature of these personal relations. Once that was ready to update she started back towards the checklist proper though she liked to change the order up each time. "Okay this is a fun one, raise your hand when you hear a sound." She pressed a button on the pad and slowly a buzz came up from below hearing getting louder and louder.

Glad to have the subject changed, though he was not normally embarrassed about such things. He held up his hand as soon as the noise came within his range.

His hearing, while it did not come close to Vulcan standards was still somewhat better than human average.

"Good," And again, Jessica did pitch this time both high and low and reaching for a eye scanner while she did so.

As she switched to pitch she would find that he could hear on the higher end quite well, his range superior to most other Humans, on the lower end of the register however he was quite normal, perhaps even a tad under average.

His vision in his right eye was 20/20, his left eye, somewhat less than that.

The sounds always made her teeth hurt, at least this time her eyes didn't water because of it. That was likely a sign that she was going blind, or that she was dying. Having done with the eye scan she asked, "Have you had an treatment for your eyes not on your records?" For one to be better than the other was a sign that there might be a problem.

He gave her a long look, unsure of exactly what he was willing to divulge. "No, I haven't received any special treatment. I, I was struck a number of times in my that eye when I was younger."

"Have you discussed regenerative treatments?" A fair amount was already listed in his file but that was just his Starfleet records, it might not cover everything.

"I guess I've just been compensating, I haven't really noticed a big difference. I'd be open to treatments, how bad is it?"

"I don't think its going to kill you, I can make a note for it to be discussed with you if you want."

"Sure I would appreciate it. Aside from not engaging in intimate relations for the next week or so, is there anything else I need to do?

"Well I think you'll need to have a sit down with one of the senior medical staff as well, they can give you more advice than me. We also have a lot more to work through on this here list." Jessica brought up the next of several topics.

"What topic would is next then? You're not going to make me turn my head and cough are you?"

"We can do your mouth and nose next and then the rest of you, We only have to do your never regions if you have a problem there, how does that sound, any pain in your teeth?"

"Never regions? that is an interesting way to put it. Fortunately no pain down there and no pain in my teeth really. I am allergic to cats and pollen which can effect my nose, but nothing serious as far as I know. You're welcome to check things out though.

Taking a small torch she almost smiled, "Open wide then, lets have a look." Jessica bent forwards slightly to get a better look and made a mental note to check those facts. If he was going to be given anything allergy medication could mess with it, maybe turning him into a horrible were-beast-cat.

He opened his mouth momentarily unable to flirt, or even speak When she had was done he said, "So what is the verdict, am I still going to be a good kisser?"

"Were you before?" Jessica wasn't all that impressed, "I can't see anything wrong but it looks like its been a while since you last had a detailed check-up." Making note of that she backed away and took a breath. Everything so far as pretty good, "Can you clench your jaw for me?" Time to check on his head and those recorded wounds.

"Touche, nurse, touche," he said in reply to her answer on his kissing query. "Yes I can clench my jaw." He then demonstrated for her.

"I'm going to give your head a bit of a feel, are you okay with that?" Wiggling her fingers she moved closer, it would just take a few seconds to check the muscles and see the tension caused him any pain.

"I'll save the smart ass remarks, remarkably my wit and charm is not working, and just say yes."

"In the last few years, how many people do you think have tired to be funny or smart while I've been trying to do my job?" Lightly her fingers traces across his jawbone, against the tensed Temporal muscles joining it to his skull. Everything there seemed normal and still seemed that way as she moved across his forehead.

"Well I would imagine quite a few to be honest. I'm sure you would get tired of it. My apololgies."

"Just be prepared for your own medicine if I ever need a language specialist," She still didn't smile but did tilt her head almost playfully, "Now have you had any headaches or pains lately?"

He bit his lip and held back the reply he had been about to make and simply shook his head in the negative instead.

"Okay that is your head all done," She checked off another section of the pad, "How has you breathing been, any problems?" The scans hadn't shown anything and they were almost finished now.

"No trouble breathing, and really no other complaints either." He could have told her about the nightmares, but that was hardly any of her business. He wasn't even sure he would tell the Counselor about that one.

"Okay-doe," She checked that one off as well, there were no signs of anything else wrong, not enough to need investigating anyway. "I'll pass these onto the medical officers and one of them will clear you for duty in an hour or two. They might want to ask you a few questions about your history though," Tapping her own head as a hint, "They can also sort the other treatments out for you."

"Yeah, I will be a bit more careful in choosing my sexual partners from now on. I may not be the brightest guy around, but I always learn from my mistakes. Speaking of which, if I offended you in any way, I apologize."

"No offence," She raised her hand for a moment as she put things away, "Just try to make sure you don't end up here too often, more you get hurt the more chance one would be fatal," She met his eyes properly, "Though chances are more likely I'll get fried by loose plasma before you do."

"I know I lead a pretty dull life, but why would you say that? I didn't think that nurses were in harms way that much."

"Not to nurses, just me," She actually came across cheerful now, "If there are gods or all powerful squids, they take great delight in testing me." All the tools put away she started to head back towards the pile of hyposprays.

"I'll bare that in mind," he replied, "Am I cleared for duty then, or at least will be when the doctors get your report?"

"I can't say until they do," Waving her had dismissively she looked up from the table, "But until then you can work as normal. I'm sure it won't be long before they get back to you."

"Very good and thanks again."
