Timeline: MD4 1500 Hours

Lt. jg Amynta Markos walked easily down the hallway, her blue eyes taking everything in. She was in the skirt uniform of her department, her blond hair styled high and away from her face. As she was not expecting any real work, it was easier to wear something she liked. When it came down to missions, she'd wear more practical clothing.
Of course, she had to see her Chief now. Which in itself was good. Another place to settle in, another start. Starfleet was full of new beginnings. She moved to the door and rang the chime, waiting, her padd in her hands. Transfer orders. Service record. Everything easily for someone to see.
Evelyn was reading the surveillance reports from a Federation listening posts in the maelstrom when the door chime rang. She blinked, and wiped her eyes to help focus her vision when turned to look at the door. "Come in."
Amynta walked in, watching the other woman for a moment before giving a small smile. "I'm Amynta Markos...your new Intelligence Officer. And you must be Coleman."
Evelyn arched her brow at Amynta, straightening her posture as she sat, "I am. I admit, I now understand what your former superiors were implying in your service record. It seems you haven't learned proper etiquette from the academy. She said, then tilting her head slightly, as if studying her before a smirk appeared on her lips. She stood up and extended her hand, "Welcome aboard, Markos. Its good to know I have an independent thinker in my department."
She smiled as she moved to her, taking her hand. "There's a time and place for etiquette, Coleman. But we...spooks, we have bigger fish to fry," she let go of her hand and offered her the padd. "Transfer orders. My record is on it, but I am not surprised you already vetted me."
Evelyn smirked, "Actually," she took the PADD and placed it on her desk, "I got the heads up, you do know this is a science ship right?"
"Yes, I did some research," Amynta nodded as she held her eyes. "Don't worry...for me it doesn't matter what ship I am on. The job remains the same."
Nodding with approval, Evelyn smiled at her. "See I like the way you think. It's fresh. I think we'll work well together."
Amynta laughed and nodded, shaking her head. "We'd make pretty piss-poor Intel officers if we couldn't. I've heard about you. You are as steady as they come."
Evelyn chuckled, "No I've heard everything. Steady is never a word that's used to describe me." she smirked folding her arms across her chest. "so who's talking about me behind my back. It better be good things or else I'll need to go cloak and dagger on someone."
"Now, now..." Amynta leant closer, her eyes shining. "No need to be that defensive of it. I know that everyone has different opinions of Intel officers. You get the job done. How you get it done is none of my concern."
Evelyn arched her brow, "Me? Defensive?" she chuckled, "Please, like I care what those brasses think. They were lucky not to have had me as their instructor in the academy." She shook her head, "The burdens of an almost 200 year career with Starfleet, you see morons ascends the ranks to Admiralty."
She chuckld warmly as she watched her, nodding. "Yes, it is the downside. Plus side? You know all the tricks in the book and you most likely have dirt on them all. Happy days, right?" she winked, smiling easily at that.
Evelyn shrugged, "Sometimes." Taking a seat back in her chiar. "Please sit down." she offered, gesturing to the chair in front of her desk. "How long have you've been on the Galileo for? Did you just arrive this morning?"
"I just came on today," she said as she took a seat, holding Coleman's eyes as she smiled to her. "I have spent some time relaxing to be honest. Nothing like a bit of R&R between ships. And I understand that the crew here deserve a good bit of rest."
"That is an understatement Lieutenant." Eve smiled.
Amynta nodded as she held her eyes, taking a deeper breath. "Anything I need to know?" she asked gently. If it wasn't, that was all good by her too.
"Just give people the benefit of the doubt with your first impressions. The crew tends to grow on you over time." Evelyn smiled.
She held her eyes at that, nodding gently. "I can tell you speak of experience. I appreciate the honesty," she admitted and gave her a warm smile.
"I'm over 200 years old, you damn right I'm speaking from experience." Eve smirked, chuckling lightly.
"Ah yes...you do have an advantage," she said lightly, arching an eyebrow playfully.
Evelyn smiled, "So, you enjoying shoreleave? Since the ship is undergoing repairs, you won't have to report to duty right away, so hopefully you're keeping busy elsewhere."
"I will find things to do...thank you, Coleman," she said and stood, smiling gently. "This place is brilliant for finding things to do."
Evelyn nodded, "I bet. Well you're dismissed, enjoy your free time, because you won't have any once we disembark."
"Will do, ma'am," Amynta said and smiled, leaving with a soft chuckle. She liked Coleman. She really did.
