Mission: Episode 15 - Emanation
Location: USS Atlirith - Holodeck
Timeline: MD -10, 1400

After all the stress of the tiny Chaka, of losing her flight status, potentially forever, and the threat of prosecution for mutiny still hanging over her, Miraj was absurdly grateful for the time she had been granted to try and relax in the holodeck. And since she'd promised Amaranai a swashbuckling pirate filled adventure, she decided to kill two birds with one stone. "But we're going to change first." Miraj explained as the holodeck created a small room, in a ramshackle building. the walls were whitewashed and plastered, and the smal square glazed window looked out over a series of buildings down to a crystal blue harbour, underneath a perfect cerulean sky.

There were two screens in the room. Piles of clothes hung over them. "That one's yours," Miraj point to the one closes to the window. "There's a choice becuase I wasn't sure if you wanted to go with Red, or preferred something else. Carmen wears red in the books, but I thought you might prefer to go your own way."

Amaranai saw the changing screens in the room and looked to the one that Miraj pointed to.

"I like red," she said with a smile and headed to the screen.

"Well, if you need lacing up or anything, I'll be over here." Miraj disappeared behind the other screen and the clothes hanging over it, clothes in much less flamboyant colours, creams and tans, vanished over the top.

The comment about needing lacing up caught Amaranai off guard until she reached the back of the screen and noticed the corset that would be required. She gave the clothing a questioned look and then decided to just go for it. If Miraj could get herself into tight leather, then Amaranai would be able to get herself into a corset.

It took several minutes of huffing and puffing and pulling as Amaranai tightened the strings but they just didn't seem tight enough. After a few more attempts, Amaranai stopped and sighed.

"Hey," she said. "Would you mind helping me?"

"Sure." Miraj appeared around the screen a moment later. She was not wearing a corset, but something much more masculine. She had a pair of worn cream coloured knee breeches that fitted snuggly, but her waist and hips were hidden by the matching long waistcoat with faded brown braid, over a white shirt with a loosly tied neck frill. She had buckled shoes with a thick heel and white stockings. Her pink hair was bound back in a tail from nape of the neck to only a few inches from the end with a black ribbon.

As Amaranai saw Miraj approaching, she stopped fussing with the corset.

"Wait a second!" she said. "I'm stuck in this and you get to be comfortable!"

"I'm playing the cabin boy. I'd look pretty silly in a dress."

Amaranai huffed and faked a pout to the other girl. After a moment, she looked at herself, with the corset ties loose, and then back to Miraj.

"At least I'll look good," she said. "If you can help me, that is."

"Of course. Turn around and brace against the wall." Miraj moved so Amaranai could do as instructed, then began to adjust the corset. "Are the puppies where they need to be? Head up, noses in?"

The brunette turned and placed her hands against the wall. When Miraj asked her question, Amaranai turned her head and stared at Miraj for a moment. There was a millisecond for her synapses to connect and inform her brain of what the girl was talking about.

"Oh," she said and looked down at her breasts. "Hold on."

She adjusted herself one more time to ensure proper perkiness for the wench that she would become.

Miraj made some last adjustments, tugging the garment slightly to sit better, then she reordered the stays and began to heave on the excess until the corset was snug, "No breathing in!" she warned, before giving it a heave to cinch it tight.

The corset was tight. Tighter than she had expected. She chuckled at the words and it caused her cough at the sudden lack of air.

"Ugh," she said. "Okay," she continued. "Let's get to it."

"Excellent. Here's the story. Bloodbeard is trying to find a buried treasure. We've got the parts of the map, but its in code, and needs the decoder, which is kept in the governor's mansion. But because his crew are all well know, they can't do it, so Roger and Carmen are going to steal it. That's you and me." Miraj finished knotting the stays and reached round to tie the long ends around the other woman's waist. "Got it?"

Listening to the plan, Amaranai nodded.

"And the governor's mansion will let a wench and a . . ." she paused to recall what Miraj had called herself. "Cabin boy, inside? Is there a certain reason we are there?"

"Nope." Miraj said, picking up a battered tricorn hat and fixing it on at a jaunty angle. "That's the problem. There's a dinner for the visiting French Ambassador, but not a full scale ball. WE're going to have to be sneaky."

Amaranai thought about the situation and nodded in understanding.

"Okay," she said. "What sort of plan do we have?"

She thought for a moment.

"Is there a way to get into the mansion as servants?"

"Worth a try." Miraj threw open the door to the room, revealing a tavern below, beginning to fill as the sun began to set. Uf that fails we can just climb in a window and hope."

As they emerged fr9m the room several of the men below begam to whistle and cat call at Amaranai and heckle Miraj. "That didnt take long!" "Did you make a man of him?" "Come and make a man of me, sweetheart!"

The catcalls and shouts from the tavern below were dehumanizing but Amaranai had to remind herself that it was how the people reacted to women at the time. She smiled at the crowd and then shouted.

"You can't call him cabin boy any longer!"

She contninued down the stairs and out of the tavern. Once outside, she turned to Miraj.

"I didn't realize that we were going to enter the party like that."

Miraj grinned. "I thought I'd save the surprise. You don't mind do you?"

"No," she said. "I didn't mind."

Miraj left the tavern through the open swing doors, and into the evening of a seaside town. Parrots clustered round, sitting on the windowsill, or on the eaves of the close built buildings "Welcome to Port Royal. We're by the docks, and we're going up there." She pointed to a walled mansion further to wards the centre of the town, on the high point over looking the bay.

It was a short walk in the gathering gloom up the Hill to King's House, the Governeror's residence. The main street was wide and freshly cobbled, and good coaches and horses were rolling up it. The house itself had two smart looking soldiers in bright red coats standing on guard outside the gate, muskets at their side.

Amaranai knew that what she was looking at was fake - holographic images created to create a real-world setting. And yet, this town looked well-detailed. Almost too real. She followed close to Miraj and listened as she talked about where they were headed. Amaranai looked up the hill to see the main house. As they approached the guards, Amaranai smiled at the guards.

"Well, hello boys," she said. "Any chance to point us toward the servant's entrance?"

The solider looked at her, somewhat confused. "You're a servant?"

"Extra help was needed for tonight, so they asked us to join them."

Amaranai, as Carmen, moved closer to one of the men and started to slowly slide her finger up the side of the musket and then the arm of the guard.

Realisation dawned on the red coat, and he suddenly looked interested. "Brass gets all the luck," he said, looking Amaranai up and down appreciatively. "You'll want the coachman's stairs. He pointed off towards a side gate, and then to a small outbuilding just inside the courtyard. "If you're not busy later. Do you...wait?""

Amaranai nodded at the guard as he motioned to where they needed to go. She smiled at the guard again as she ran her finger across his chest. The question was one that Amaranai had actually expected after what she had been doing.

"Oh," she said and leaned closer to whisper in his ear. "You wait here and I'll stop by when I'm done."

The solder leered at her. "I;ll be looking forward to it. Not much else to spend your pay on on this island. Might as well give it to a pretty girl."

Amaranai moved off in the direction that she had been given.

"This might be easier than I thought," she said to Miraj as they moved to the stairs.

Miraj smiled. "Makes a change. I'm normally caught sneaking in a window."

They found the stairs and hurried up the narrow stone steps into the mansion, coming out in a room full of laundry. Outside could be heard low voices, and a series of giggles.

Amaranai followed and once inside the room, she looked around to find anything that might he helpful. She looked to Miraj.

"Do you know where the room is from here?"

"Sort of." Miraj admitted a little uncertainly. "If its in his study then its on this floor. If its in his bedroom then its upstairs on the right. If its in the library thats downstairs next to the dining room."

"So what do you want to do?"

Miraj thought about it. "Split up? You do upstairs and I do the study?"

"Okay," she said. "I'll leave first. Wait sixty seconds and then you leave. If someone notices either of us, just make something up." She paused. "Do you know if there is another set of stairs around here?"

"There's s servants stairs around here somewhere," Miraj tried to rember the map. It had been a while since she had played this one. "Try the end of the hall."

She opened the door carefully and noticed that it led to an empty hallway. The sound of the party was coming from the other end of the hall, which was a good thing for them. She stepped out and closed the door gently. She moved along the wall in an attempt to be as quiet as possible, though her dress impeded her slightly. When she turned the corner, she noticed another stairwell. This wasn't the same stairway that Miraj had mentioned but it could still get her upstairs, which was the most important thing at the moment.

Hurrying, she made her way up the stairs and when she reached the second floor, she was surprised to find another guard standing outside of a room. It had to be the governor's room, but this was going to be a little harder to deal with.

The soldier gave her a confused look. "I wasn't told there was going to be more of you?" His hand was on the hilt of his sword, but only to control the swing of it as he turned towards her.

Amaranai didn't flinch as the soldier turned to her. She smiled and pushed toward him slowly.

"Well," she said. "I'm just here in case they get tired," she offered. "Or in case more people wanted to join."

She hoped the guard would be willing to let her in. She had a feeling something was already going on inside and that she wouldn't be an invited guest, but it was too late to back down now. She was on the steps of finding out if the decoder was in the room or not and if not, she was going to be really mad.

His eyes travelled over her, got stuck in her cleavage for a moment and struggled to get out. Finally he looked her in the eye. "Well, you'd best go in. Don't want to get into trouble letting your type roam the halls."

Amaranai leaned forward and offered a small peck on the soldier's cheek.

"You are a dear," she said.

She opened the door and before she even saw anyone, heard the sound of at least three different people. Unsure, she moved forward.

Inside were three women, a red head, a blonde, and a brunette. They weren't wearing much, just their stockings and loose robes. The blonde was smoking from a bone pipe, whilst the brunette was combing the red-heads hair up into a pile of curls. The brunette stared at Amaranai. "Who the f--- are you?"

Amaranai was definitely caught off guard this time and she looked as much when the woman spoke to her.

"I'm new," she said. "They sent me to learn from the best."

The blonde let out a stream of smoke, "Then somebody doesn't like you very much. This isn't a job for a new girl. Governor Wallans has... special... needs."

Staring at the other girls, Amaranai coughed slightly.

"Don't know what to say," she said. "I wanted something different so they sent me here."

The red head giggled. "Honey, you need to be careful what you wish for."

She stepped forward and closer to the other girls.

"What do you mean by special needs?"

The brunette snorted. "Wallans is depraved. He likes to give a girl a beating, then screw her whilst she's raw. Luckily some of us like that sort of thing." She gave the red head a shove, and sent her sprawling on the bed and slapped her arse. The red head giggled. "So if you want to run now, we'll understand. We still get paid."

Amaranai figured the best way to keep the governor occupied and away from the decoder - if it was in another room - was to stay and participate.

"No," she said. "I like the rough stuff too."

She paused a moment.

"When will he be here?"

The blonde let out another drag on her pipe. "Not long probably. We're dessert."
