JJ held onto blankie as she watched mumma and dadda packing for their big adventure "Me have play fwends there dadda?"

"I presume so Honey, if not I'm sure the crew will be lovely too." He was trying to remember the crew but didn't recognise whether there were any children on board. He knew there was a child care hologram the ship so it was set up for children at least.

Having only really been around adults JJ bounced excited before asking hopefully "puppy or kitty dadda?"

"No not yet we gotta get there and get settled before we have an idea of bring another member into the family. I mean I guess as a Chief I might be entitled to good space and Mumma should be able to get a two bedroom Apartment as a mother. So lets wait a little longer." Martin said *Pushy isn't she.* He sent to Steph.

Steph sent him a mental chuckle *Shes definitely a trier.*

Pouting slightly JJ nodded reluctantly "K dadda. I wait."

*You think.* Marty sent with a chuckle. "Good Girl." The reality was he had not found a puppy he liked, Lets be honest he hadn't found a puppy. He preferred the no kill centres but all they had at the moment was down on their luck older dogs. maybe later in the year.

Watching them pack her soft toys JJ spotted a wayward giraffe and squealed "Dadda! No f'get hawold!"

*Thought that might have been destroyed in the crash.* Martin sent to Stephanie. "Well my dear girl I thought you might've liked to take it with you?"

"Fow me dadda? " she held her dadda's toy gently eyes wide with awe "yeth pwease dadda ... me takes good cawe of hawold."

From that one statement something else clicked within him. "James loved that giraffe, he had never seen one till we came to Earth. He was most disappointed when he saw one in the wild's of Africa but never you mind Hawol...." Martin shook his head and continued "Harold kept Real Dadda stable around Grandma Caine. So it like Blankie really important."

Steph smiled sadly "He took it everywhere... Even on the shuttle that day."

"Yeah well I think it might continue being a tight tie between Jamie and her real Dadda.

JJ wrinkled her nose confused "weal dadda? You is my dadda."

"I know honey I am the only Dadda, you know." Martin paused long enough to kiss Jamie on the cheek before he continued "But I'm still very close, your real Dadda, the one that helped mumma make you was my Brother, but it is okay that you call me Dadda, I think Dadda James, would like it that way."

"He named like me dadda?" JJ tried to understand the adult concepts of having more than one dadda. "How dey makes me? Likes when's you cook?"

*Don't think I want to open that Pandora's box Steph.* "No mumma named you in memory of my brother, your real dadda, so you would be reminded, and we would be reminded of him, and that I could tell you stories to help you get to know him. "I might tackle how you were made in oh forty or fifty years, maybe decades." Martin said with another kiss.

JJ frowned "why I need be ooooollllllld dadda fore you say? "

"Cause Dadda isn't discussing the birds and the bees with a one year old." Martin said with a smile. He looked and placed the bags in the final cargo box and sealed it. He had a storage locker that he had fitted with a cargo transporter he attached the last tag moving back he pushed the button a few nanoseconds later their gear disappeared. "I guess we should make our way to the runabout station."

Steph chuckled as JJ latched onto the subject change "We going shuttle dadda? Me get window?"

Marty laughed and say "It's a runabout JJ the only window to see much out of will be the forward ones. But once we get to the ship there will be lovely big windows to look out of for you."

"Pwomise? We get to ship soon?" JJ bounced around the room excited.

"As soon as we can. Last I knew they were on there way to a Starbase not far from Earth so I suppose a month and we should meet up but we're guests on a starship and should be there and settled by tonight. Though I'm gonna be right next door because family quarters aren't normally set up for mum and Uncles to live together, but I'll visit. I like being near Mumma and you." Martin said as he picked Jamie up to put her in the stroller.

JJ squirmed her head going all directions in her excitement as she pouted "Dadda stay with mumma and JJ... 'Is a ruuuuuuule!" She let him put her harness on patiently as she kicked her little feet in excitement "To the ship!" She pointed to the door imperiously.

Martin smiled at his Niece. "I know it's a rule, but adults and adult work places have rules too. One of those rules is....." He looked at Steph as he pushed the JJ filled stroller out the door. "All we have to do is tell people JJ is mine, I mean, James was still a Caine wasn't he I didn't think he would have left me of the invite list to something that important. Whether he had sent one to mum or not."

Steph nodded "He was still a Caine and... I'm happy to say she's yours if you are... I mean we could 'divorce' I guess if you fall for someone?" She looked a little nervous saying it as she didn’t want him to... and where did that thought come from?

*You suggest that every again and I'll slap you so hard, and not pleasurably.*Martin sent her before reverting to verbalise "Look I know I am six years your senior but phase or no I will always love you." Then he said to Jamie would you like that.

The bouncing stroller answered his question even without the scream of "DADDA, DADDA, DADDA!"

"I guess that's a yes then." Martin said to Steph, he curled an arm around her and pulled her to him and kissed her. Why does this feel so right.

Stephanie let out a giggle at their daughter as she admitted softly "im falling in love with you too."

Martin smiled at Stephanie's comment and said "I suppose I can accept that," he looked at JJ and said "What do think should we fib to Fleet and say JJ is Dadda's?

"Dadda silly JJ always b'n dadda's." JJ giggled at the silly adults.

Martin laughed. "I guess it is decided. Dadda will find a way to stay with Mumma and JJ."

The stroller did another dance of glee while Steph tried hard not to laugh at her daughters enthusiasm.

"That mean JJ have baby bwother? " JJ asked.

"Maybe but let's get settled first." Martin said with a smile. "We want mumma to recover properly the extra stress, of the extra weight, on Mumma's legs would be bad for mumma just now." As he finished saying that the young family arrived at the transport centre.

Nodding JJ stuck her thumb in her mouth and sucked contentedly in the belief it would happen at some point ... dadda hadnt said no.

Martin held the door for Steph and the stroller. They headed over to the desk. Martin said to the desk clerk "Lieutenant jg Stephanie Fraiser, Senior Chief Martin Caine and our daughter Jaime presenting for transport to USS Farragut. It is Jamie's first time in space so we choose to go by shuttle to give her something to remember."

The senior lieutenant at the desk looked at the family and blinked. The request was highly unorthodox for a simple crew transfer, and he instead tilted his head to the side with a bit of confusion. "First time in space? ...Wouldn't a transporter be the quickest and easiest?" he asked.

"Yes sir it would but we thought we would make it a special journey for our baby daughter so we thought we would take the slowly and she can see the earth disappear below us and see the stars come out on our way." Martin said with a smile.

Clapping her hands JJ said excitedly "Me see stars... Me touch stars?"

"See Sir she would miss all that first experience of seeing the stars if we did it by transporter." Martin said with a smile. "We want her to experience as much fun and excitement as we can as a child."

The lieutenant stood up slightly to peer down over the desk at the child's voice before looking back up at the two adults. "First time in space, huh? Maybe there's something I can do for you..." He turned his attention towards the LCARS terminal on his desk and began to tap away at various buttons in order to pull up the most recent departure manifests. "..Hmm.." he mumbled to himself before continuing to browse the available transports. "What's your destination again? USS Farraday?"

"Close sir!" Martin said with a smile before he finished "USS Farragut it arrived the day before yesterday and leaves for Starbase 234 where we will meet our ship at the end of it's mission." He knew the man was busy so simply corrected his Mistake.

"Farragut..." the lieutenant mumbled to himself, then continued on perusing the manifests in front of him. "Looks like...there's a transport leaving for the starship in...three hours from PAD 18-B. Type 7," he finally said after finding a few open seats. He looked up at the couple before adding, "Will that do? Those older classes have wide cockpits, probably the best you can do for getting a good view."

JJ gave an excited squeal clapping her hands then remembered her manners "T'ank 'ou vewy much."

Martin smiled. "As my daughter said sir thank you very much. The type 7 has passenger windows so that will be perfect. Slower than the newer models but the windows will be advantageous for sightseeing. We'll be there." They headed off to have a light meal. Martin never ate big when he left for space.

Waving bye bye to the nice man JJ turned forward and bounced in the stroller saying "staws dadda... staws." She giggled excitedly even as she gripped blankie.

"After lunch honey!" Martin said with a smile before he said "Please honey not so much bouncing it makes it hard to push the stroller."

"Me two dadda but me 'cited." She waved blankie in her enthusiasm remembering her promise not to bounce as much.

"Nuh uh think we should leave her here!" Martin said with a wink at Stephanie.

"Dadda no me must stay wif you and mumma!" JJ screamed.

"Shhhhh Jamie Dadda won't leave you behind, Dadda loves you too much to do that." Martin said with a gentle smile as he went around to get JJ out the stroller. He decided to hold her for a bit after her scare.

Sniffling JJ dived into her dadda's arms shaking as she burrowed into his neck with her head "dadda and mumma no leave JJ ... pwomise JJ dadda!"

"Never accept for duty my dear little one." Martin said pulling her in gently to him. He carried her too lunch near pad 18B so they could watch the action. As their time approached they moved to the old type seven and took their seats it was crowded but JJ was going into space.

Wriggling in her seat like an excited pup JJ stared out the window with a running commentary to blankie.

Martin felt the reduction in gravity and said Space the final frontier. These are the continuing voyages to catch up with the USS Galileo." Then gave Stephanie a kiss. "It's good to be back."

Stephanie kissed him back with a happy hum "We're home."
