“Let me help you.”

The sitting around and doing nothing had begun to bother Jynn. At first he had thought it best to simply Let Rheneas pack his things and go without a word spoken, but since he really had nowhere better to be he decided to at least speed things along. He got up and started grabbing the miscellaneous things that his roommate had set about and began packing them away neatly for transport.

“So, looking forward to your new quarters?”

Pausing from stuffing what little belongins he had into a box, Rheneas looked up. "Not really," he commented quietly, "I honestly didn't mind staying with you, you never bothered me in any fashion. And I kind of like your bubbling personality, it brings life to the room."

“Thanks,” Jynn replied in a most un-bubbly tone. Everything had taken its toll on the tested Deltan and it was obvious that he did not have much left to give. Just some filler conversation while his ex-roomie got loaded up and ready to go. “It was inevitable though, I suppose. Senior officers do get their own quarters.”

There was a visible wince. He hardly fit that description anymore and it was going to take getting used to. Still, the need for solitary quarters was blindingly obvious, but talking of supposed rank was much better than addressing the real reason for his need of solitude. “But it was nice while it lasted.”

Rheneas nodded, his smile sobering. "Are you alright Jynn?" he asked worriedly, "you seem different...are you alright?"

“I'm... fine.” The reply took longer than expected. Not that Jynn had to think about what he wanted to say, but mostly if he even wanted to say anything at all. Words did have a tendency to accumulate over time, of course, and he saw little need in that happening at the moment. “Just looking forward to a bit of solitude, to be honest.”

"Well...you weren't really meant to have a roommate to begin with," Rheneas observed, "even so I'm forever grateful that I could room with you since I had nowhere else to go at the time. And I won't ever forget the fun we had."

Jynn mustered as best a grateful smile as he could. It was nice to hear kind words from the people you knew, especially in light of all that had transpired. It was certainly a welcome distraction from his reality. "Thanks, Rhen. I can say it was certainly a pleasure for myself as well. So, who's your next victim," he questioned playfully, an unsupressable grin crossing his lips.

"Victim?" Rheneas thought that a poor choice of words but thought it best not to elaborate. "Crewman Apprentice Sigrid Thelin. I don't think I've met her before to be honest. Have you?"

“Nope, but the name sounds fun,” came a reply with a hint of Jynn-like peppiness. “I'm sure the two of you will get along fine. Besides, first meetings can be an invigorating experience...”

Giving him a playful poke, Rheneas grinned. "You think?" Turning his attention to packing the final items, he sobered just a little. "We'll see how it goes, but I feel sad that we gotta move. You were fun as a roommate Jynn, and we would've been alright together. I mean..nothing inappropriate happened and I don't think it would've. Don't be a stranger alright?"

Jynn gave a half-hearted nod of acknowledgement. He was kind of hoping he would quickly become a stranger to everyone, but he supposed that would have probably been impossible, especially on a ship of Galileo's size. "I'll do my best to run in to you from time to time. I won't be a stranger, but no promises on the strange. I'm afraid that's just me," he concluded with a chuckle. That sure was the truth.

"That's a promise then," Rheneas smiled and opened his arms. "Hug? Just one... and then I'm out of here, I promise. I have everything packed now, it's only a matter of getting what little I have moved."

Jynn couldn't resist, but for once his compulsion was not something that would end in disaster or injury. An embrace. A real, honest embrace of kindness and care. The possibility of even a moment's comfort was overwhelming and the restraint was obvious in his eyes as he moved to Rheneas and gave him a heavy-hearted hug without saying a word.

Returning the hug, Rheneas just smiled as he squeezed back for a few seconds, then let go. He stepped back and picked up his duffle and a single crate. "I'll see you around Jynn," he promised, "no matter what, you got a friend here. We had good times, don't forget them."

“I won't,” Jynn sighed as the two parted. What else was there to say or do? Just another goodbye. “Goodbye, Rhen.”
