Location: USS Galileo,Sickbay
Timeline: MD 02, 0830

ON:

Having spent the night tossing and turning, feeling like his head had not at all been healed, Grayson found it best to return to sickbay and get checked out. That morning he was very unsteady on his feet, he never ate anything due to feeling nauseated and swore he was seeing double on his peripheral vision.

Getting out of the turbolift and towards sickbay was no easy feat. His feet were not communicating fully with his bain, quite often he was stumbling over them. His condition, whatever it was, was progressing rapidly. Somehow he managed to make it to the sickbay doors, holding onto the small hand railing built into the lip of a bulkhead. They opened and he stumbled inside, only managing to steady himself on his feet, under his own power. "Someone?" he called out, hoping someone would answer. His vision resembled what one would see during a very thick fog on a dull morning.

Allyndra was just about to head on out for a bit of a nap. It had been a long day already and her staff needed a long rest as well. She was almost to the sickbay door herself thinking of nothing more than hoping for a nice dream of being under the shining Queen of Night's promise. She was at the door the same timed it opened and she was confronted with Lieutenant Grayson. He did not look good in the least.
She immediately put an arm around him lending what she could from her slim body. "Come, come, let us take a look at you."

Grayson was glad to the support as he walked and headed up to a biobed. "That you," he murmured out with what little strength he had, "it is my head. I had an incident yesterday and it hasn't felt right since, even after treatment." His eyes began to flutter wildly as he struggled to stay awake. Suddenly the room was spinning and he was feeling very tired indeed.

Allyndra noticed the eyes and the change in muscle tone. She suspected he was heading into a seizure. Akkadians had endurance but where not an especially strong people. Fortunately biobed one was near the door, currently unoccupied and also the best equipped. She stumbled with him over to the bed but there was no way she was going to lift him. Hopefully he was not too far gone yet, "Can you make the bed?"

She could call the EMH but that programme was busy and the power levels still somewhat fluctuated.

"Yeah," Grayson wheezed, feeling utterly exhausted now. He limped over and managed to pull himself up to a less than comfortable sitting position where he slumped over slightly. The once fit and healthy engineer now looking ill stricken was a very sorry sight to see.

Allyndra got the scans going and noted the swelling in the cranial area. It was serious and there was a good chance of a status epilepticus setting in. She did not want to make it sound alarming to him but until there was better power and a lot more time there was only one thing to do. "I am going to give you something to make you sleep. It is going to be alright, just need to get some bit of surgery done."
She set the proper dosages to induce a medical coma and pressed it to his arm.

"Oh," Grayson said, being caught by surprise, instantly feeling his eyes beginning to droop, "Can you let Tyrio...know. K'os in Engi..." His speech became impaired as the engineer fought against the sleep medication to get his final points across. He felt as if his eyes were about to pop, but somehow the pain was less, the blood rushing about in his body could be heard in his ears. "The capt...'n too," he never got to finish his sentence before he began to lay down on the bed. Never too sure any of his words got passed his mouth, Grayson made sure his last though was of Tyrion, reaching out to him in the hopes he would feel something. His mind went cold, his body still; the pain in his head had stopped and his body was at peace.

"Shh.....shh.....I will I promise. Rest now you will need it, all will be fine." Allyndra replied. She would keep her promise. There were a few things she had to do first.
"Computer initiate stasis compartment one please."

[Stasis compartment one initiated].

Allyndra got a grav stretcher and shifted Grayson over and then moved the grav stretcher to the lab area. One area back there had the stasis compartments used to handle medical problems that could not be worked on immediately or it would double as a small morgue as well. She checked on the compartment and adjusted the stretcher to match the height and slid it in.

=^=Allyndra to Chief Petty Officer Tyrion Faye. Please when able report to sickbay=^=

Tyrion had bolted upright in bed, not having slept much at all due to Grayson doing a nice impression of a vole the way he kept tossing and turning about. Just as part of his mind seemed to go blank, Tyrion heard hsi name being called and instinctively he reached out, only to find the other side of the bed empty. Hearing the comm call, he reached up. "On my way."

He shot into his uniform pants and ran out the door, not even bothering to put on a shirt, socks and shoes. He couldn't ever remember having run so fast in his life and, panting for breath, he finally charged into sickbay. "I'm here, I'm here, where's Gray?" It had to be Grayson, why else would he be summoned?

Allyndra had waited to put Grayson into stasis after getting confirmation that Tyrion was on his way. She was waiting near the office just outside the lab. "This way," Allyndra waved to indicate the back area.

She waited just inside the lab door.

Eyes wide and face pale, Tyrion rushed after her. "What happened?" he demanded, "why is he like this, why didn't he wake me?"

"Lieutenant Jones is suffering from some sort of brain damage. When he arrived he was on the verge of going into a very serious medical condition. Now before you get too upset, I believe the condition is repairable but not with our current situation. I have induced a medical coma and was about to put him into stasis. He was asking after you so I thought to call you before I put him into stasis. Go ahead and talk to him if you wish, one never knows if one hears anything in that kind of coma. I will give you a few moments alone." Allyndra made a quick summary and indicated the floating stretcher and then she left and headed to her office closing the lab door.

Tyrion approached the stretcher and bowed over the prone figure, caressing his cheek, his spots, kissing him gently. "I don't want to lose you now," he whispered, "you get better, you hear me? I'll visit every day, whenever I can, and I want you to get better and come back to me." He kissed him a final time, letting it linger, knowing he'd feel it.

After a few minutes, he walked back into sickbay. "I heard him call me, before you called," he told Allyndra, "he reached out."

Allyndra nodded that she acknowledged the statement. "I am sorry, as I said, we can get him better but it will be awhile." She indicated the seat across the desk from her. A few more minutes before stasis would not matter, the coma she had induced would be sufficient for a bit more. She had figured that the two men had some sort of connection. "Do you need to talk?"

"I don't know..." He gazed back over his shoulder. "We've not been together long you see, but it feels like years already." He swallowed, drawing in a deep breath. "Would you mind if I sat with him when I'm not on duty? So that he doesn't feel alone? Does he feel anything at all?"

Allyndra got up and came around the desk. "I would say probably not, not being in a medically induced coma but who knows for sure. Once in stasis though..." She put a light hand on Tyrion. "Of course you are welcome, I quite understand. As I said, it is not a unrecoverable condition. Would you like to come with me while I initiate stasis?"

"I don't want him to be alone," Tyrion fretted, "yes I want to be there. What if something goes wrong? I don't want him to be alone doctor, I don't want him to die alone."

Allyndra shook her head, "Not on my watch. I do not let patients die on my watch. Now then," she could see the frustration and tension building up. "Would you like something? He would worry about you fretting over much."

"Like what?" Tyrion kept his eyes on the very still body inside the coffin like construction as they re-entered the lab. "He's in a coma, how does he worry?"

"He would ask as soon as we could get him fixed up. Come now," Allydnra opened the door to the chamber. She ignored the 'like what'. It was stress she knew it which meant to keep her calm even more. She pushed the stretcher in and then sealed and locked and set the mechanism. "Did you want another moment alone?"

"No. He probably won't hear me and I might not want to leave at all." He wrung his hands as he watched her lock the chamber. "How long will he be in here for? Will he wake up at all?" Tears started to well up as he kept watching the closed chamber, unable to tear his eyes away. What if this was the last he'd ever see of Grayson?

Allyndra gently hugged Tyrion. "Now, I said it will be alright and it will be. There, there..."

The Betazoid allowed the hug and gave a miserable sigh. "When?" he whispered sadly.

Allydnra pulled back. "When? When there is time and power and things are more settled. "H'aloi apeamau'a kealani mana'wai p'alui ola'oli lilo maai'kea ma'ana ma'uila," she said in full sing song Akkadian. She translated, "Be Thankful for all things in life. Even for the bad things. Sometimes the bad things turn out to be good things. When this is over and you are reunited think of all that you will have to share with each other."

"I still sense him," Tyrion breathed after a few seconds. "I will keep your advice in mind. Thank you doctor. May I spend time here, when im off duty?"

"As I said, you are welcome unless of course we have a medical emergency. Now then, there is a lab stool there and I will arrange for a more comfortable chair later and leave you two alone." Allyndra nodded with her chin toward the stool like lab chair and then gave Tyrion a polite nod and left. She did not mind and she understood but she would keep an eye on things to make sure they were not too obsessive either. Then it would be the Counselor's job.

Tyrion nodded, casting her a grateful look. "Thank you doctor, I won't be in the way I promise." He pulled up the stool and sat by the unit, keeping faithful watch.
