Mission: Episode 08 - NIMBUS
Location: USS Galileo, Deck 2, Executive Officer's Office
Timeline: MD-03, 08:20 hours

ON:

Prudence smiled as she made it to the XO's office. Truth was, she was there to see Allyndra as a Chief Medical Officer, not XO. But it was still quite fun to go to this office. The crew seemed excited about the changes too. It was something different and it showed people in a different light. New opportunities, chances to leave things behind.

She rang the chime and waited. All she was here for was just to make sure that people were being referred between counselling and medical. It went both ways. And she had been looking over records and seen it hadn't always happened. Again, both ways. So a chat never hurt, especially since she liked Allyndra.

There was one thing that was not an iota of difference between sitting here and sitting in the medical office, the seemingly never ending flow of data in the form of PaDDs. She sometimes wondered if adapting Borg technology so that everyone just knew what to do was not more efficient than shifting through all of this.

Almost in the background the chime to the office registered and she just about as absently said, "Come." A few impulses of neurons later it struck her that maybe a break from the tedium and as the door opened she gratefully pushed a pile of devices away. "Doctor," Allyndra waved her in. It was as formal as she was likely to get and she hated being that formal but this was not her own little realm and there was a certain decorum that needed to be followed. "Please, have a seat, there is a replicator there if you would like something. What can I do for you?"

"Just a talk," Prudence said and smiled gently, taking a seat as she watched the other woman. "I am catching up on old reports and wanted to make sure we were referring patients between us. People with medical needs spotted in Counselling to be sent to Medical, and patients with psychological problems to be referred to Counselling."

Allyndra blinked that slow blink that indicated an Akkadian was deep in thought. She thought back and while she had sometimes spotted things and suggested she did not think there was much in place and was uncertain that the rest of the staff was doing so though she had confidence that they would.

She answered, "I am not sure there is a consistent policy in place. It is an excellent suggestion and one we should implement. Could I prevail upon you to outline and talk to the medical personnel then?"

"I can if you wish," she said and smiled, her eyes gentle as she watched Allyndra. "Once everyone is back together on the ship, I will arrange a meeting. I do not see it being an issue for either of it, it would not break our trusts to send a message and arrange an appointment for counselling or medical when we feel it is needed."

Allynda nodded, "Though if I recall correctly you are medically qualified so I wonder if medical intervention for a psychosis might be handle still better in Counseling?"

"Potentially, yes," Prudence said with a small smile, holding her eyes. "But it requires me being on hand. Should I not be there...well, it falls more natural with your department to help with the medical aspect? What do you think?"

"Of course you are quite correct. I just did not want to make it appear that I am interfering with your section." Allyndra waited a moment and then added, "That is when I am not in this position. Mott is in charge right now though I do not foresee any problems there with your request. Is there anything else Doctor?" Allyndra kept to protocol as she expected it would be more proper in a command position currently.

"No," Prudence said with a small smile, giving a nod. "To be quite honest, it can wait until after the exercise. With everyone split up, it seems silly to do it now, " she said, taking the woman's words to mean her welcome had worn out. And she couldn't blame her.

"Very well but in case I forget please remind me alright Good to see you again Counselor," Allyndra nodded.

Prudence nodded, smiling gently. "You too, ma'am," she said before leaving the office. At least they had some sort of a plan for later, although it would have to wait until the end of this training exercise.
