Mission: Episode 07 - Sojourn
Location: Starbase 84 - Deck 22 - Meeting Room
Timeline: MD 06 - 18:30 hrs

ON:

Amynta smiled weakly to herself as she touched the box, opening it to look at the new rank insignia. It felt strange, to know she would give this to Hex. Well deserved. She had expected it by now, actually. She glanced at the time, knowing Hex would think it was a normal catch up meeting. Good. Unless Saalm had ratted on them, this would come as a complete surprise for Hex.

"You wanted to see me, Lieutenant?" Siren smiled as she half swung her body round the door frame, her head showing around the side with it.

"Yes...please, come and stand here," she said and stood as well, watching the other woman closely.

"Hm..." Siren arched a delicate eyebrow at the wording, a small but playful smile on her lips as she moved to her. "Stand here? Right here?" she said lightly, pointing to her feet.

"Just there..." Amynta said as she held her eyes for a long moment before taking the box. "Siren Hex...you are hereby promoted to Petty Officer 1st Class. And I know you will do the rank proud."

Siren watched her with surprise, her mouth actually dropping open with it as she just stared, struck dumb. "Wow...I...guess we didn't mess up on our intel work during the mission then," she said softly with a chuckle, shaking her head with the awe she felt.

"You did good," Amynta said and smiled, touching her arm. "So be proud. Be happy. And take the promotion as well, you deserve it."

"So long as people don't whisper," Siren chuckled softly, shaking her head with a weak smile, looking to the box. "Thanks. It means a lot that you trust me."

"I trust you. And if they say something...just send them my way," Amynta said with a chuckle, shaking her head. "And I will show them just how wrong they are. You...did so much. Do so much for my department."

"I think it was our mysterious Maria who did the job this time," Siren shook her head with a small smile. "But thanks. I...didn't really expect much from Starfleet when I joined. Or more...didn't expect to get far. I just needed something to keep me. So this is unexpected."

"Unexpected can be positive," Amynta said as she met her eyes, searching them. "You've made your place here...and it can be good. You are in control of your own destiny, Siren."

Siren smiled at the words, holding her eyes for a long moment. She liked Amynta. She heard mutters of how hard she could be, but she'd never had a problem with her....if you did what you were meant to and didn't disappoint her, Amynta was as sweet as chocolate. That's how she liked it. Kept her on her toes and made her want to do a good job. "Thanks, boss."

"Welcome," she said and nodded, touching her arm for a moment. "Now go. Tell Saalm, have a bit of a celebration. Show off your new...bling."

"And my my, but won't I shake it well to make it sparkle," Siren teased, her eyes bright with it as she dashed for the door.
