ON:

"Hey Abbey, guess what!?" an excited Dr. Tuula Voutilainen exclaimed with infectious enthusiasm as she wheeled herself towards the bed-ridden patient in the recovery ward.

Abbey sunk into the pillow hoping that the doctor would wheel away "I'm not here" she groaned.

"It's almost time for your first surgery!" Though she was excited at the opportunity to get her hands dirty performing such a challenging and complex procedure, her attitude was mostly a show for her patient, who she could tell desperately needed some cheering up. And what could possibly be more cheerful an occasion than an imminent surgery?

Ignoring the clearly over enthusiastic doctor she put the pillow over head hand "I don't want it, just let me lie here" she said finally from behind the pillow in a muffled, stubborn voice.

"Oh, come on," she replied, prying the pillow away from the patient's face. "You mean got all my equipment ready and even took out my favourite laser scalpel for nothing?" she asked in a teasing manner, hoping to elicit a chuckle or at least a hint of a smile.

Abbey frowned at the woman who she decided was crazy "Wow really a laser scalpel? oh please cut me open" she mocked before huffing so heavily that it made her stomach ache.

"You should be excited, Abbey," replied Tuula. "This surgery is the first step on your road to recovery. If everything goes well, you'll be able to walk around a bit with some assistance. Which means no more bedpan."

"Oh but doctor I don't want to recover i want this nightmare to end" she said trailing of I to an almost whisper "besides I like the bedpan it mean I get to do my business without having to leave to the toilet" she said resumed her hardened shell talk.

"I'm sure if you really like using the bedpan, that can be arranged," replied Tuula, trying to stay positive and upbeat with her difficult patient. "The sooner we do this operation, the sooner this nightmare will be over. So, lets start getting you prepped for surgery, okay?"

She huffed "Fine, if it will stop you from nagging me" Abbey had managed to regain some movement but hadn't been able to walk, each time she did try she just collapsed. "A little help" She asked.

"Now that's the spirit!" exclaimed Tuula, relieved to get something approaching consent to the procedure. "The nurses will be over shortly to get you prepped and bring you to the operating room. I've got a couple things to get ready, so I'll meet you there." With that, Tuula made her way back to the operating room to prepare.

Abbey sighed as she sat herself up on the side of the bed her legs dangling freely over the bed. Her medical gown had caught on the side and it showed her bare legs. "Can't wait," she muttered.

Nurse Vipsania smiled gently to Abbey as she moved to the girl, gently touching her arm. "We will make sure that the doctor doesn't get over eager," she promised, with a soft chuckle. "Just relax," she took the hypo, pressing it to her neck before nodding to the other nurse. "We will take very good care of you."

Abbey wash pushed into the room she crossed her arms across her lap and cast her gaze downward "Sure relax..." She said angrily. Everyone seemed to be making out that her survival was a good thing and that there was nothing better in the world. She hated it.

Lina watched the girl for a moment before lowering her head, touching her arm. "Forgive me for saying this..." she said, her voice gentle. "But we are glad we are here to help your body." She raised her yes, to watch Abbey. "And hope your mind follows when it is ready for it."

Dr. Olsam passed slowly through the doorway separating the surgical ward from main sickbay, allowing the specialized forcefield to strip away any microbes that might have been clinging to the bright red surgical gown. Once inside he adjusting the gloves to his satisfaction and smiled brightly at the nurse and her patient. "Nurse Vipsania, Ms. Wyatt. How's our patient today? Word in the corridors is that you're very cranky. And when I heard that I said to myself, 'Oh, that's just idle chatter because Abbey Wyatt is always the very epitome of sunshine and happiness.'"

Abbey watched as the doctors fussed over her and equipment "Nope, you've heard right and I will remain like this until either A) something terribly happen to the ship and I die or B) Something terribly happens in this surgery and I die." She huffed "Can we just get this over and done with"

"I'm sorry I'm going to have to disappoint you," replied Tuula, tying her hair back. "I'm afraid you're not going to die on my operating table." She looked up at the nurses. "Okay, transfer her to the surgical bed, face down, on her stomach. Lets get this thing started."
