Location: USS Galileo - Intelligence Office, Deck 5
Timeline: MD 08 - 1915

ON:

Amynta frowned as she sat in her office, watching the computer. She had received the files from the Chesapeake, so now the question was...why was one of her Intelligence officers obsessed with this murder? She sighed, rubbing her neck tiredly before looking over the crime scene holograms again.

The doors opened, revealing a frowning doctor in the frame. Alexion Wylde folded his arms, watching her intently. "So I think the human phrase is 'you stood me up'...."

She looked up at him, her brows knitted together with annoyance at being disturbed. "What?" she asked, shaking her head before looking back at the screen. And then back at him. "Oh...damn. Our dinner. I...forgot."

"So I see," Alexion set his hands on his hips, not looking all too pleased himself. "I am glad it was so memorable...."

Amynta stood, watching him for a moment. "Someone under me is spending a lot of his work time looking into a murder. I was curious about why so I started digging. And I lost track of time," she said and sighed, meeting his eyes. "I'm sorry."

"Did Amynta Markos just say sorry?" he didn't let the amusement show on his features, but it reached his eyes all the same.

A small smile pulled at her lips and she shook her head. "I don't need to be repeating myself anytime soon..."

"Then do not do it again," Alexion motioned to her with a frustrated sigh. "Suggesting that your work is more interesting than me..." he tutted.

Amynta motioned him over, holding his eyes. "It isn't, but I don't like someone wasting my time and resources...and that Ensign in my department is."

Alexion sat on the desk, watching her with dark blue eyes as he folded his arms, clearly thinking on it. "Have you managed to figure it out?"

"I'm looking over the crime scene..." she said and frowned, sitting down at her desk. "I don't know why, Alexion, but I get a bad feeling over it. It's...the victim clearly knew the killer. It's obvious, the position...even the lack of clear defensive wounds."

"What's the room like?" he asked with a frown, shaking his head as he watched her with concern....of her involvement.

Amynta looked at him, seeing his face before smiling. "You know what...never mind," she said and touched his arm. "Dinner?"

"Good plan," he whispered with a small smile, covering her hand to squeeze. "You will work it out. You always do."

She nodded, smiling weakly as she turned her computer off. "I know," she said as she leant closer.

"Good girl," he teased softly, a smile pulling on his lips before taking her hand to lead her out before she could change her bloody mind.

She smiled at that, watching him with amusement at being led like a child. "Will you lead me to my quarters so I can change?"

"Since when do you need anyone to lead you," Alexion grinned, but there was playfulness back in his eyes now that his good mood had returned.

Amynta smiled as she met his eyes, taking a deeper breath. "Since I have you on my arm."

"Come on, stop it, stop thinking of work," he said firmly, slapping her hip as they walked. "I can tell you are...."

She let out a breath, nodding as she rolled her shoulders, clearly breathing to clear her mind of it...an exercise that worked. "How are you?"

"Hungry," Alexion replied bluntly before chuckling, shaking his head. "I get...grumpy when I have to wait to eat, that is the word, yes?"

She nodded at that, leading him into her quarters. She found some nuts, offering them over. "Eat this...while I change."

"I am not a bird," he grumbled at the offering, but with amusement as he started to snack on them anyway. "And why do I have to eat while you change? I'd rather just watch."

Amynta smiled gently, her eyes warm as she moved to undress, not minding him watching. "You need to eat something...to keep you going."

"I can think of a couple of things," he grinned, watching her fondly, resting his head against the doorframe to watch her openly.

She smiled as she glanced at him, not minding walking in her underwear to find something to wear. She picked out the deep purple dress with a black belt and black shoes.

Alexion moved over to her, sliding his arms around her waist from behind, smiling as he kissed the side of her neck. "You don't have to get dressed just for me," he whispered.

She smiled, offering her neck as she sighed contently. "We were going to have dinner..." she said and turned to kiss him.

"You do not need clothes to eat," he teased with a warm smile, stroking her side. "But whatever you want."

Amynta smiled as she watched him, nodding gently. "Hand me the dressing gown," she said softly. "And I can make us something to eat."

"Compromise. I like it," he whispered playfully, kissing her neck before moving to grab the robe, throwing it over to her. "I can't remember..." he stopped himself, frowning, shaking his head. No, that wasn't exactly a tactful or romantic thing to say. "What shall we eat?"

She met his eyes, searching them as she took the robe. "What were you going to say?" she asked, moving to kiss him.

Alexion paused for a long moment, unsure if he should say it, his blue eyes just watching her. "I cannot remember the last time I was this....comfortable and close with someone."

She stroked over his cheek, caressing it for a moment. "I...have never felt this comfortable with anyone before."

He watched her with surprise, shaking his head with a frown at the prospect. "Not even your son's father?"

"He was just someone I knew," Amynta replied, shaking her head as she smiled weakly. "Besides...it was uncomfortable and awkward."

He reached out, his fingertips resting on her jaw as he urged her closer to him. "Why?"

She met his eyes, searching them as she let out a breath. "He was older. I didn't know him, he was my...boyfriend's brother. I was...easily impressed. We only had sex once."

Alexion searched her eyes at the words, a frown coming to him at the underlying feeling behind them. He reached out, catching hold of the back of her neck to gently pull her close, kissing her softly.

Amynta moved into the grip, not resisting, kissing him deeply as she let her hand stroke over his neck, caressing tenderly. "Mm..."

"That's better," he whispered, giving an almost firm, decisive nod as he stroked his fingers through her long, flaxen hair. "All that matters is now. You cannot think of the past, it will drive you mad with what should have happened that did not."

She arched an eyebrow at the words, taking a slower breath. "Alright. We focus on now. So...now...you need to eat. I need to eat now."

"Good choice," he grinned, brushing his lips to her knuckles before pulling her through to curl up on her sofa, but having to scoop up a couple of tribbles before he got to sit. "I like the perks of bothering a department chief....the quarters are worth it."

Amynta smiled warmly, her eyes shining as she kissed him. "Let me get us something. And you might notice the...cages of tribbles."

"Well I assumed they are not your usual decor...." Alexion chuckled as he moved to add the latest bundles of fur into a cage, brushing his hands off after. "Hm...adds a little...something...."

Amynta smiled as she arched an eyebrow, walking to the replicator, getting two bowls of stew for them. "Like leather and whips?"

"That too," Alexion grinned, reaching out to help her. "Thank you," he said softly, sitting down. He started to eat, not shy in it, starving as he closed his eyes with near relief. "Is this from your home?"

She nodded, smiling as she ate as well. "I pre-programmed that thing. Just easier to get my favourites. I swear, I only really eat six different things."

"Well it suits you," he grinned, shaking his head as he sat back to get more comfortable and slowing his eating down now he knew he had food there. "I like your spice."

Amynta watched him with fond eyes, leaning closer to him as she ate. "Good...I can't change that," she said gently.

"I don't think you should change anything," he said seriously, looking down with a frown. "No matter what."

She looked at him, a small smile curling her lips. She reached out, to touch his jaw. "You know I don't."

"Even if you were looking....stressed in your office?" he asked lightly, prodding gently.

Amynta watched him for a moment before frowning. "You ever meet someone who rubs you the wrong way? Who you know isn't...all there? It's how this Ensign feels to me. Can't explain it, it's a gut thing."

Alexion laughed warmly, watching her with shining eyes. "I love how much it takes to impress you."

Amynta smiled weakly, shaking her head at that. "It's not even about that. But I expect some base respect. And he isn't...he doesn't...damn it, he was using the Gally's resources to look into something personal, during his shift."

Alexion shook his head quickly, reaching out to touch her jaw. "You have good instinct. Always respect it."

She smiled at that, moving to kiss him gently. "As do you," she said and chuckled.

"After so many decades, you start to listen to your instinct," Alexion admitted with a half smile, shaking his head. "It is all that is left sometimes."

"You have everything left," she said and smiled weakly, shaking her head. "Down there...in that bloody tunnel...I was glad you were there."

Alexion didn't bother masking his surprise at the words, shaking his head with a frown. "Really? You seemed to be handling the situation very well yourself...all weapons blazing and everything."

She looked down, smiling weakly. "Yes, well...it was still nice to have a smart man there in a sea of annoying idiots."

"Hm," Alexion leant close, his chin in his hand. "I am not sure I like that. It is something of a unique mark, being declared an idiot by Amynta Markos...." he grinned, watching her with shining eyes. "I guess I will just have to work harder to get your attention....."
