Mission: Episode 06 - Legend of Souls
Location: USS Galileo: Deck 3 - Sickbay
Timeline: MD 08 - 1100

ON:

"I do not want to," the girl said, in Radvani, her palms stroking against each other in a dismissive movement. She was a normal height for a human child, but her dark hair was braided back and her features were more than just a hint of Cardassian. She wore a dress though, a white dress with a brown belt and a hood.

"You know your health is important. To me," Lina said as she touched her arm, stroking it soothingly. "And he is a nice doctor. Not human. You will obey me in this..." she smiled as they walked into Sickbay, her eyes warm the moment she met his before she lowered them and bowed her head respectfully. "Doctor Wylde...this is my daughter, Nia," she said in Standard.

Alexion nodded, looking to her with a small smile. He bowed his head before moving his hands to show the Radvani male greeting to the young girl. "I am privileged to meet you," he said softly.

Lina smiled with surprise and warmth, her hands moving with the female greeting. "Nia," she said, and watched the girl doing the same. "Nia is not very...keen on sickbays."

"I don't mind the room, I don't like the people," Nia said as she watched him before taking a breath, bowing her head. "Most...people."

Alexion chuckled at the words, shaking his head knowingly. "You do not like Doctors?"

Nia studied him closely, leaning forward. "They tend to poke," she said before glancing over at Lina, reaching to take her hand to hold.

"Hm, then I promise I will not poke," Alexion said firmly, motioning for them to walk with him to a biobed. "Even the scanners do not poke here..." he added lightly.

Lina smiled gently, stroking over the girl's hair. "And you are a brave girl anyway," she said softly. "You can stay still through it."

"Up you get," Alexis patted the biobed, pulling over his tray and taking the tricorder up. He moved to her, showing her it with a small smile. "Do you know what this is?"

Nia watched it, her eyes narrowed slightly. She gave a nod, watching him with dark eyes. "A medical tricorder," she said softly, watching him. She wasn't scared. She was cautious.

Alexion nodded before offering it over, a small smile touching his lips. "Want to scan me?"

She watched him with surprise, taking it as she smiled with awe. "How do I...?"

"Here, see?" he leant close so he could show her which buttons to press, sitting next to her so she could reach. "It will scan inside of me, almost like taking a picture of my insides, and it can work out if there's anything wrong."

Nia nodded as she moved it carefully, tilting her head. She smiled, her eyes widening at what she saw. "Two hearts."

Alexion nodded with a grin, putting his hands on his chest, patting them one after the other in a rhythm. "They beat like this."

She nodded, with awe as she let out a breath. She read it all, reaching out to touch his chest, frowning. "You are tired. This says you are tired?"

"You are a clever girl," Alexion said softly, holding her eyes with a nod of approval. "Yes. But that is easily solved after my shift," he promised. "Your turn?"

She nodded, handing it back as she watched him. "I am not tired," she said, with a weak smile. "I rarely get tired."

"You have a good bed time then?" he asked with a small, knowing smile, starting to scan her with the tricorder.

"No. I just don't sleep. I read. Mother encourages me to read. Knowledge is strength," she said, looking over at her mother.

"Your mother is very wise," he agreed with a sage nod, but there was humour in his eyes as he watched the tricorder.

Nia watched him, studying him closely, her eyes taking in everything about him. "Mother said you are old in years. Like she is."

Alexion glanced to her with surprise before nodding. "Yes," he said quietly. "I am 227 human years old on last count," he admitted with a wink.

The girl nodded, watching him for a long moment. "I am 10," she said, frowning. "Mother is older than me. 129. But I am not her biological daughter."

"You are her daughter how it matters," he set the tricorder aside, shaking his head. "Would you lie down so I can bring the arch up around you? There will be lots of room still, I promise."

She looked at him before easing down, frowning as she relaxed her body. "I am not scared."

"If you were, that would be okay too," Lina said softly as she watched her, closely.

"Bravery is not being unafraid, it is doing something even when you are afraid," Alexion shook his head with a soft chuckle. "My father said that to me."

"That sounds...nice," Nia said softly, with surprise how much she liked the sentiment.

"Of course, I am not saying that you are," he said with a small smile to her as he brought the arch up and set the scan going. "This just takes another scan of your body. It is more thorough though, and looks at any old healing that has happened."

Nia looked at him, searching his face for a long moment. "I broke things. When I was little."

"Well it looks like you have healed them very well," he nodded with approval. "Have you been feeling well? Any aches or feeling poorly?"

She shook her head, frowning slightly as she thought of it. "I did. Earlier, but it went away. Tummy ache."

Alexion nodded, taking a few moments to let the results come in, looking it over. "Hm," he put the arch down before reaching for the tray by the bed. "You know I said I would not poke? Well, I will not exactly poke, but I will touch your skin with this," he held up the vial before slotting it into the cylinder. "So I can get a sample to test, okay?"

Nia looked at him, frowning before taking a breath. "If you need to poke, you poke," she said softly, glancing at her mother.

"Thank you," he nodded, doing it quickly so she wouldn't have time to ruminate. "There, easy, hm?" he slotted the vial in place so he could run the tests on it, but it didn't take long. He looked to the screen as it beeped and he shook his head with a small smile, reaching for the hypo and a different vial filled with liquid this time. "You have a tummy bug," he said quietly, glancing to her mother. "It is what makes you feel poorly, but it is very easily treated."

Nia looked at him with surprise before glancing at her mother. "But she doesn't have it?"

"I...do not get all the illnesses you can get," Lina said, moving to her side before touching her forehead, stroking it soothingly. "My body works differently. Reacts differently."

"All the better for your mother to look after you," Alexion chuckled gently, leaning to her with the hypo. "One, two, three..." he pressed it to her neck. "There, that will start making it better. But you need to rest for at least two days to let your body get better."

Nia frowned as she touched her daughter's hair, leaning to kiss it. "I will see if I can trade shifts with another nurse."

Alexion watched her for a long moment. "I can cover you," he said quietly.

"We are on the same shift...but I appreciate the thought," she said, bowing her head with a small, almost shy smile. "I will make sure there is a nurse on the shift. Since I start tomorrow...it will just mean I start a day late."

"Only if you can. If not, I will pick up the work. It is usually quiet anyway," he assured, shaking his head. "Other than that, you are a healthy girl."

Nia watched the doctor before nodding weakly, frowning. "I thought I was just nervous."

"I know," Lina assured, her eyes gentle as she watched Alexion before nodding her thanks.

Alexion nodded gently to her before helping Nia sit up. "To bed with you, young mistress," he gave her a small smile, squeezing her arm.

Nia smiled as she touched his arm, watching him before nodding. "Thank you," she said shyly as she stood, leaning against Lina.

He just bowed his head to her. "Thank you for being such a good patient. I am sure, when you are feeling better, your mother will give you a treat," he flashed a small smile to Lina who he had just volunteered for treat duty.

Lina looked at him with surprise before laughing, stroking over Nia's back. "Well, who am I to break the promise from a doctor," she said and smiled warmly.

Nia smiled at that, with surprise, taking a breath. "Thank you..." she bowed her head in return. "I want to go to bed now."

"I will take you there," Lina whispered and smiled as he led her with her. "Thank you again, doctor."

"Come back if she feels any worse, but she should be recovered within 48 hours," he nodded to her. "Welcome to the Galileo."
