Mission: Episode 06 - Legend of Souls
Location: Lyshan III - Corridor
Timeline: MD 08: 1515

ON:

Taurus sat on the cool floor of the dark corridor, deep towards the access of the mining facilities, away from the main foot flow of the living areas. The Cardassian sighed, looking down the length of the metallic corridor, an arm on his knee. He was....plastered. The drink hummed through him, and he couldn't even be bothered to stand up and get back to his room. Let them find him. Who cared anymore.

"Taurus?" Reyn watched him with surprise, having made his way up from the access tunnels. He had done what he always did...made a round of checks himself. He walked to him, moving to sit down beside him.

Taurus turned his head to him, reaching with a drink slowed hand, sighing. "Yes, I suppose it is," he said lightly, clearly drunk.

Reyn watched him for a moment before reaching out, placing his palm against Taurus'. "Let me take you to your room?"

Taurus watched with surprise at the tender gesture usually shared just between Cardassians, smiling at it. He linked his fingers with the human's, keeping their palms pressed before taking a deep breath. "It seems a long way away."

"My room is closer," he whispered softly, a small smile coming to his lips. He worried about him. He usually did, but now? Especially like this.

"A good plan," he nodded firmly, letting out a long breath. He tried to push himself up, but wavered, frowning as he touched the wall to level himself.

Reyn wrapped an arm around him, smiling weakly as he helped him. "I am with you," he said gently...wanting to reassure him.

Taurus looked to him with a frown, nodding as he let out a long breath, gripping his wrist to keep hold of him and his own balance. "I've had a little too much..."

He nodded as he led him slowly to where he had his own room. It was basic. Very basic. He let out a breath as he opened the door and led him in, to the bed and got him to sit on it.

The Cardassian groaned as he lowered himself to sit, letting out a long, tight, pained breath. "Comfortable...."

Reyn watched him with concern before kneeling, to remove his boots. "Why are you in this state?" he asked quietly.

Taurus let him get his boots off, letting out a long, tired breath, frowning. "Bad day at work, I mean, you were there, you saw the Starfleet mouths moving...talk talk talk, that's all they ever do....just big mouths...blah blah blah....Do you have any drink?"

"I do," he said, but did not move. He got his feet free and started to rub them, remaining on the floor as he massaged.

Taurus watched with surprise, holding his breath before relaxing with the feeling, not fighting it, letting out a shaking breath as he sat back. "You don't have to..." he whispered, but it was clearly being enjoyed.

"I want to," Reyn said and smiled, taking his time as he shook his head. "What was all that about today, with the Starfleet women questioning you?" he asked gently. He wanted to help.

He watched him for a long moment, frowning as he considered what he could and couldn't say. "I...can't say," he finally said quietly, and that was more than he would usually have ever let slip out. But Reyn...he made him want to share everything with him. All of him. No more secrets. No more lies. "But...I cannot fail."

"Then make sure that tomorrow you do not," Reyn said gently, frowning. "Tomorrow is another day. Things can be fixed. And if not as quickly as you'd like, hide it and only admit it if asked directly."

Taurus frowned, watching him for a long moment. He reached out, touching his hair before leaning forward to him. "How are you so wise and calm?"

He leant into the touch and smiled gently, chuckling softly. "It works the same in the mines. If you have not met the week's quota, you make sure you exceed the next day."

"Is that what you do, hm?" he tilted his head, holding his eyes with a sigh. "My clever, clever human."

"It's what everyone who survives does," Reyn said softly, moving up to steal a kiss as he smiled.

"I always survive," he whispered, resting his head to his, touching his shoulder for a long moment, just to feel the strength in it.

Reyn nodded as he reached to stroke his hair back, smiling gently. "I know. You are like me. You survive."

Taurus stroked his forehead to his, enjoying the feeling of the ridges against the smooth skin. "So much alike. Yet so different..." he breathed, silent for several long moments, just enjoying the closeness. "Let's worry about tomorrow, tomorrow. And when it is tomorrow, I shall crush the vermin under my boot..."
