Amynta had gotten out of the bloody suit the moment she was back on the Galileo. She had showered, she had put her make up on, she had changed clothes. She had even gotten herself healed up by the new nurse. And armed with a bottle of red wine she walked down the corridor. She needed to...to talk. She needed to sit down with the one person she trusted here apart from Siren. She let out a breath as she rang the chime, frowning as she waited for Alexion Wylde to answer his bloody door.
It was Laeon who answered though, looking her up and down. "You okay?" the teenage looking boy asked, tilting his head. "You look like Dad did when he got in...."
Amynta looked at the boy before reaching out, touching his cheek for a moment. "It was rough. I am more angry than anything else," she said as she met his eyes. "Let me in?"
"Of course," Laeon smiled gently as he moved out of the way to let her in. When she was inside, he hugged her, not giving her the chance to pull back. She seemed like she could do with it.
She frowned, hugging him back after a moment, her hand touching his hair. "It is good to see you," she said, her voice quiet. "Very good."
"Seems like things went badly down there," Laeon frowned, shaking his head. "I'll get Dad, he'll be pleased to see you," he promised with a small smile, squeezing her arm before dashing off into his bedroom.
"Amynta?" Alexion said softly with surprise as they came out, shaking his head with a small smile.
"I...will leave you to it," Laeon said delicately, glancing between them before grabbing his drawing folder and heading out of the quarters.
Amynta watched Alexion for a long moment before walking over. She reached out for him, pulling him close and resting her head against him, her eyes closed. In that moment...she just let herself feel. She felt his strength. His warmth.
Alexion blinked with surprise at the unusual vulnerability in Amynta. He wrapped his arms firmly around her, holding her tight to his body. "Back now," he said quietly, one hand sliding up to stroke the back of her neck, under her hair so he could feel the skin. He used his Talent to transfer a little of his energy into her, just a little, just enough to let her feel refreshed.
She let out a shaky breath at the sensation, her fingers moving to caress over his neck. "That sucked," she said, her voice quiet. "I thought we were going to die down there for a bit."
"Nah," Alexion chuckled, stroking her hair soothingly. "Cardassian walking dead? No. I have been through too much to die like that in the dark down there. I knew we would get out somehow," he said with a mock cocky tone.
She arched an eyebrow, taking a deeper breath as she pulled back a little. "Well next time, share that with the rest of us," she said dryly, but a small smile curled her lips.
"It did not seem the right moment," he said lightly, touching her cheek. "Come on, crack whatever that is open..." he pointed to the bottle with shining eyes.
She nodded as she opened the bottle, watching his eyes. "We should sit down. And drink the bottle. Because Laeon said you were strange too when you came back."
"Well, I did not claim I was completely unaffected," he chuckled weakly, shaking his head as he grabbed two glasses before sitting down, offering his hand out to her to pull her close next to him on the small sofa.
Amynta smiled gently as she poured the wine, looking at him for a moment, taking in his features. "Being faced with things like that...as rational people, it grates us the wrong way."
"Shakes what we believe," he agreed with a frown, shaking his head. "You believe as you grow that demons are a childish fear used to control you...then you are confronted with the impossible."
"Until you realise that it is a new weapon. All weapons are built on fear," she said softly, sipping her drink as she frowned. "Because fear is powerful. Not many can control their own fear."
"All good weapons anyway," he agreed quietly, nodding as he sipped his drink with a soft sigh, rubbing his forehead. "I can see why the miners call that place cursed."
"And we have to stop the curse," she said quietly, reaching to touch his hand, her nails scraping lightly. "Because we are...good people, right? If you ask me, that's stupid. We are under orders. If the crew had their choice, we'd all be gone from here by now."
Alexion's lips quirked with mild amusement as he watched her, reaching to stroke some hair from off of her face. "You are a very complex woman."
She leant into the touch, her eyes shining as she smiled. "I'm heartless," she teased, taking a deeper breath.
"Hm," he chuckled softly, shaking his head as he watched him. "I do not believe you."
"Alright. I am selfish," she said and touched his wrist, her eyes gentle. "Unashamedly so. But humans are like that."
"People in general are like that," he said softly, shaking his head. "I have yet to meet an unselfish being. It is primal...it is how we survive."
Amynta sipped her drink, searching his eyes for a long moment. "And what is it you want?" she asked, her voice soft. "What is it you selfishly want?"
He searched her eyes for a long moment, holding his breath as he thought about the question, seriously. "To be settled," he admitted quietly, shaking his head with a frown. "There has been no home for a long time."
"And a ship is not much of a home," she said as she touched his hand before taking it to hold.
"Not for a kid..." he motioned with his head to Laeon's tiny room. "I have been surprised that he does not complain more. Especially here. We were on a Galaxy before, large, lots of distractions...this...." he shook his head. "...is very different."
"Small. Cramped..." she said weakly as she searched his face. "He loves you. And would do anything for you."
Alexion smiled weakly at the words, shaking his head lightly. "I am all he has left. Well, apart from his uncle Jaq. He has seen and felt too much for his age. And I cannot change that."
"No," she agreed before nodding, holding his hands. "You can't change it. You do not have that power. But he is strong. He is not broken."
Alexion smiled at that, nodding as he held her eyes with warmth. "People like us," he motioned between them. "We do not break."
Amynta chucked with a small smile, reaching to stroke his cheek. "We'd never give the universe the satisfaction."
"Agreed," he grinned at the words, watching her for a long moment. "How are you? Really?"
"Angry," she said and sipped her drink. "Fuming. Exhilarated. Bloodthirsty. A lot of emotions. All of them slightly addictive..."
Alexion chuckled softly, shaking his head gently as he watched her with shining eyes. "At least you are honest...."
She smiled, her eyes shining before she touched his jaw. "And you, Alexion? How do you feel?"
"It is strange working to help Cardassians when I had to heal the wounds they did to others in the war," he admitted quietly, shaking his head. "But the crew here....most are so young."
"And have no emotional attachment to the war," she said as she took a breath. "I admire the...intelligence of the Cardassians. I still hate their guts."
He chuckled softly at the words, shaking his head. "I cannot blame you. I cannot. It is...easy to hate those who destroyed your home."
"I am sure that with a drink in my hand, face to face with one, I would get on decently well. But truth is, it boils down to what you said. They destroyed my home. It was a shitty little planet with...some nasty people. Still my planet," she said with a weak smile, holding his eyes. "My family settled as part of the first human colonists there. My great, great, great grandmother worked the farm with no husband, just her projectile weapon and her two children. There's history there. There was anyway."
"They sound rather amazing people," he smiled gently, searching her eyes. "It explains you."
She chuckled, shaking her head as she watched him. "Does it?" she asked lightly.
"Yes...." he gave a slight grin, shaking his head. "Strong, independent, decisive, sharp...like a good woman should be."
"Charmer," she said and drained her glass. "Good for you that I like you. A lot."
"Why? Do you usually have strange and unusual punishments for charmers, Amynta?" he asked lightly, searching her eyes with amusement.
"Why yes...usually involves a whip..." she teased, standing before reaching for the bottle to refill their glasses.
Alexion chuckled warmly, leaning back he watched her, pulling a leg up onto the sofa to wrap his arm around his knee. "Yes...I can see you with a whip...."
She smiled as she sat down again, crossing her legs. "Many people can, I suppose..." she teased before touching his knee, stroking it.
Alexion watched with a grin, considering her for a long moment. "I could swing it stronger though."
She arched an eyebrow, her eyes shining at that. "Mm...strong arm. I bet you could," she said, her voice silken. "I'd like to watch."
"Watch? You would be under it," he teased with an arched eyebrow, watching her for a reaction, enjoying their game.
She chuckled, sipping her wine as she crossed her legs. "Well, I'd like to record it then. So I can watch it another time..." she leant closer, taking a slow breath. "Sometimes...nothing feels as good as all the things that make us alive."
Alexion reached out with a small smile, pressing his fingertip to her jaw to make her feel a tingle of his energy that he passed into her with his Talent.
She let out a shaky breath, closing her eyes as she smiled. "That...ability is something special," she said softly, opening her eyes to watch him. "You are special."
"I am not," he lowered his hand with a slight frown. "Or at least, I was not. All of us had Talents. Different types. It was normal."
"I wasn't talking about the Talent. That isn't what makes you special," she said firmly, reaching to take his hand, holding it firmly.
He watched her with surprise, holding his breath. Very rare colour touched his cheeks. "Now who is being the 'charmer'."
"I'm not being a charmer, I am being honest," Amynta said before smiling, leaning close to kiss his cheek. "And for once I did it without insult."
Alexion turned his face to bring their lips close together, smiling as he watched her. "Hm, a shame, you are stunning when you are being sharp."
"Stupid man," she said softly before kissing him, her hand going to stroke over his cheek.
Alexion kissed her warmly, gripping the side of her face to tug her closer. He moaned against the soft, warm lips, his hand sliding higher to wrap into hair, holding onto it tightly to take control.
Amynta pressed closer to him, breathing harder as she ran her hand over his side, just feeling him as she let him take control of the kiss...for now anyway.
