Mission:
Episode 05 - Solstice
Location: Akkadia - GuildMistress Warraquim Office
Timeline: MD25 - 0900
ON:
Allyndra waited with her friends. The meeting with the Council was to be in the Warraquim GuildMistress' Office. It was not surprising to her that they would meet here rather than the main Guild Hall. This request had to do with things that treaded to edge of that hidden past. Medical information was one thing those in the far past had decided that needed to be more open, but what Allyndra was going to request dealt with the research or discoveries of the A'ksu.
She glanced over her shoulder at the group, Kohl looked positively dreamy in his Akkadian style suit and she wondered how many hearts he had broken walking through the halls. Lamar looked very well as well, but the suit was a little short, for normally someone of his size and bulk here would have been one of the worker males and never would be officially appearing before a Council.
Doctor Mott, Allyndra tried to keep a straight face, looked positively odd, the suit stretched tight around his middle and the greenish tones clashed with his blue skin. She had reminded them all that very few off worlders ever meet with the Council. She hoped they all remembered the quick protocol she had asked them to remember. She would lead, and the curtsey, they as males required to bow at the waist and then hold until given permission.
Her attention was distracted away by the doors opening and a lady dressed formally as she was appeared and then with a quick wave of the hand beckoned them in.
Andreus Kohl folded his hands over his abdomen, and he sidled closer to Allyndra. He brought his lips close to the side of her head. In an undertone, he asked, "Have I thanked you yet this hour?"
The room was large and lined on the opposite side from the door large windows with light drapes fronting over the balcony and the ocean. The windows were open and the breeze stirred the drapes. The near constant temperature and the light breezes kept the rooms pleasant.
To their right sat ten women. Out of them only three had wings the rest already showing the signs of age. Allyndra recognized the look and the seven would not last another year being at the end of their lives. That meant that soon another would take their place and probably out of the two attendants that stood at rapt attention behind each.
Remaining a couple of paces behind Allyndra, Kohl used every ounce of effort in his body to match her pace and stride. The motor-assist bands strapped to his legs beneath his trousers were notched up to their highest setting. He stood with his feet shoulder-width apart and hoped to whatever trans-dimensional super-being was listening that he wouldn't fall over when he bent into his bow for the Council.
Olsam was pretty sure he was waddling where the others were walking; the Akkadian uniform was laughably right around his substantial frame. He felt like one wrong move would rip the thread at the seams. The last thing he wanted was to bow and blow out the seat of his pants, embarrassing both himself and Dr. Allyndra. He was also nervous, which was making him swear profusely. He wiped distractedly at his brow and shuffled along gracelessly.
Allyndra stopped and made a deep curtsey. She hoped the others knew their part of protocol. She waited for a good minute before the Guild Mistress of Warraquim said, "So Allyndra, the currents have carried you far, has your curiosity been sufficiently satisfied?"
It was as good as given permission to rise and she did so. "If anything Guild Mistress and Mistresses it has widened it. You know why I am here and why I asked to bring these off worlders here. However," Allyndra turned and motioned to Kohl.
"There are things out in the galaxy that are dangerous but not only dangerous but aggressive as well. This one was injured in the spine unlike us he will not repair fully. Doctor Mott," she turned to indicate him. "Has seen the damage that has resulted from injuries that will not repair, especially due to the Borg."
Kohl was watching Allyndra as she spoke. His hands were folded behind his back, and he stood there, perfectly still. He didn't speak. His jaw was clenched so tightly, you could see it in either side of his face. He turned his head slightly to watch the reaction of council.
Somewhere in the much vaunted halls of the Starfleet Diplomatic Corps was an actual file on Dr. Olsam Mott detailing his interspecies snafus, of which there were many. Having (mostly) learned his lesson about interacting with alien species outside the Federation, particularly the reclusive ones, Olsam kept his mouth shut. For now.

"A long time ago, the..." Allyndra paused and instead of saying A'ksu just said ancestors. "ancestors found a way to incorporate the ability to heal oneself into us. If we can find out how they did it, it would be a boon to others and I will say this here and now, we need friends. We have isolated ourselves too much..."
"Enough Allyndra, we all know the views you have espoused on may occasions. I and many here concur that perhaps we may need to be more open and thus the majority have given you and these others permission to access the medical archives of Warraquim for the information you requested."
At those words, it took all of Kohl's Starfleet-bred restraint to stop himself from sweeping Allyndra up in a hug. Instead, he nodded, he just nodded and he smiled. Otherwise, he held his breath; afraid he might say something to change their minds.
"Huh," Olsam said, a bit too loudly so that it echoed several other "huhs" throughout the guild chamber. He blushed a dark blue and shuffled in place, looking everywhere but at the council members. He'd thought for certain they'd turn down the request, forcing him into a covert operation to recover the information from the archives all on his own. A goofy grin started to spread across his face as he became caught up in his own thoughts on 'Dr. Olsam Mott and the Case of the Alien Archives.'
