Theron tapped his comm on the way into the turbolift, =^= Lt. Rhodes to Lt. Rice. Meet me in the Armory.=^=

Aria let out a breath, frowning as she briefly buried her face in her hands. She genuinely wasn't sure if she could continue this. =^=Yes Sir. What is up?=^=

The chief replied, =^=It looks like we are both on the Away Team. Let's touch base in the Armory and suit up.=^=

=^=Thrilling...yes Sir.=^=

Theron smiled slightly at the excitement in her voice. =^=Rhodes out.=^=

The Armory

The Security Chief walked into the Armory and the door wooshed behind him.

Aria looked at him, frowning slightly. "I am on the away team as well. I...am not very impressed that we are both going. I suggest we leave Staff Warrant Officer Mormont here to supervise while we are away, Sir.!"

"That is exactly what I was thinking." Rhodes replied as he sat down at the control panel. He sent a quick message to Mormont, instructing him to take charge of Tactical while the away mission is taking place. Vincent looked up at Aria, "For the away mission, we will be dealing with the Borg and this other species. I am afraid any energy weapons will be short lived. What is your best handheld, non-energy weapon?"

"For small weapons, the TR-110 is the only real choice, but the recoil is pretty bad if you're used to phasers," she said as she considered it. "The TR-116 is bulkier as it is a rifle, but it is steadier. As long as it isn't on full automatic..." she met his eyes, searching his eyes for a moment. "I would equip anyone armed with a TR-116 unless they have had specific training with a ballistic pistol."

"Well . . " Theron hesitated, "that is not exactly what I was referring to." And then added to be encouraging, "Though we will bring our Type II phaser, and kinetic weapons like the TR 110 & 116 will be most effective, I guess what I wanted to ask, more specifically, was there any type of bladed weapons that you are proficient with?" He lifted his right knee and extracted the knife from his boot and laid it flat in his hands before her.

Aria looked at the knife before frowning, taking a breath. "Phasers won't do jack..." she said before folding her arms. "I don't do blades. Stark's the fencer, not me. I can do hand to hand, but not really with blades. If we get into a situation we can't shoot our way out of, we...well, we messed up, Sir. And I'd rather take the TR-110 with me and stay back. Not letting the Borg close."

"I can understand your concern. I do not want them any closer, either." The Chief sympathized. He put the knife back into his boot and then crossed his arms and continued, "I am just concerned that when they can adapt to our energy weapons and become useless, we will have alternative methods of defense with us."

"And I have one...projectile weapons...those that fire bullets," Aria said and frowned, shaking her head. "Because truthfully, if they get that close to me, I am dead. I don't have the physical strength or mental stupidity to engage a Borg hand to hand."

Rhodes accepted her thinking, "I support your capabilities, as you say. Carry the TR-110 and your projectile weapon, as well. I want us to be doubly capable when called upon."

She met his eyes for a moment before nodding. "I'll prepare then. And we are equipping everyone with weapons, right?"

He stepped over to his locker and pulled out a vest and replied, "Yes. Those that are qualified, proficient." and returned back to her holding a vest with many things attached to it.

She looked at the vest, arching an eyebrow. She then looked at the computer, taking a breath. "I am going through everyone on the away team to see what qualifications they have. So we can equip them properly."

"Good. Forward that information to the Commander as well." Theron replied as he slipped on the vest. It was made of a slightly thick black material with lots of pockets and fasteners to the outside. The outside was covered with different tools and weapons. Most notably was the short sword over his back bone with the hilt at the bottom.

Aria looked through the files, frowning as she got the list compiled. She sent it to Commander Blake before pulling back, frowning. She glanced at him, a weak smile tugging at the corner of her lips. "Sir...you look like you're about to go all GI Geeked on the holodeck," she said softly, but with humour.

Theron smiled at her attempt at humor as he picked up a think piece of fabric in an odd triangle shape and attached it to as his breast plate. It was the color of his uniform, gold. It covered those items on the front of his chest. "I guess I just want to be as prepared as I can for this away mission. I do not think the Borg or their controlling species will be giving us any second chances."

She shook her head, moving to get the TP 110. It was a projectile hand gun, sturdy and deadly. She liked ballistic pistols. And they were good against Borg. She took the belt it came with, with the holster. Less flashy than what Rhodes had, but she knew she wasn't that sort of fighter. She was too physically weak for that. "Well, just don't go and do something stupid."

He turned quietly and stepped over to the locker again and lifted out a gold uniform jacket. Turning back to Aria he said, "Doing something stupid is far from what I plan." He slipped on the jacket. It had his lieutenant rank on the collar and it covered all the weapons and tools underneath. "I just want to be prepared to defend the group as best I can."

"Sure..." she said lightly, shaking her head with a weak smile as she took a deeper breath. "Well, I am ready to go."

"Very well then," Rhodes replied as he was checking each of his pockets and looking in each side of his jacket. He picked up the backpack with the shield generator and put it on, "I have to stop by my quarters on the way to the Transporter Room. I will meet you there."

"Don't forget your exoskeleton, hardening weave, ablative coating, kinetic buffer, medical interface, hazard seals, sniper rifle, shotgun, pistol, assault rifle, helmet and awesome Gladiator armour..." Aria said, but with a teasing smile. "See you there, Sir."

Theron snickered and shook his head slightly. He realized that he may be overdoing it a little, and it was good to be teased a little. He gave her a wink, "See ya there," turned and walked out of the Armory.
