ON:

Allyndra knew she was dreaming, but could not help it. Somewhere, someplace in the back of her mind she knew that she was really elsewhere and this dream, this hallucination, that she felt like she was not a part of but an observer watching events unfold.

It had to do with her previous dream, she knew that. A ball was rolling on a rubber like sheet. The ball was carrying a charge and the sheet deformation was the polarization "cloud". She knew it was representing a polaron.

As the sheet tilted the ball rolled in response to the tilt but because the sheet was not hard it slowed as it had to put energy into deforming the sheet.

Now in her dream a second ball appeared. When the balls got close enough one to the other the deformation in the sheet touched and the balls rolled together. The balls now held together in the same deformation of the sheet and held apart by their hard-core mutual repulsion. The balls reformed but know the sheet instead of being so rubbery took time to respond to the ball rolling along. A ball rolled and left a little groove in the sheet that filled in slowly. Now the other ball followed the groove but in the opposite fashion. It was a sort of attractive pairing interaction and like electrons in low temperature superconductors.

The groove continued to form until the material could no longer respond, that is fill in and the groove became permanent. More and more balls rolling along back and forth in pairs could now move at accelerated rate, as though the material was hard.

Now ice cubes sat along the edges of this groove and the material began to change yet again. Allyndra knew from her odd observational detached perspective what would happen. She had already seen it happen in another dream. The material along the edge of the groove began to change, the wave as each ball passed instead of being individual waves became one collective wave function. The material was evolving into that odd fifth state of matter in which all the atoms instead of acting individually became instead one sort of super atom no longer interacting with any other thing, a phenomenon known as a Bose-Einstein condensate. That state in which matter, energy went into its lowest quantum state. Since it was in its lowest state it could no longer interact with anything else and basically fell apart.

Allyndra knew that the clue to the forming the polaron pairs had been given to her. In still that odd detached state, the word A'Ksu came to her and she shivered.
