[ON]

Dea headed for the mess hall to grab something to eat. At the moment she didn't have a lot of time but she didn't feel like going back to her quarters either. Granted there was a lot to think about but Dea set that aside for the moment. After ordering her meal she found an empty table. For the moment she wasn't really paying attention to the activity around her.

"A Thiarna, t m tuirseach," Victoria muttered under her breath as she made her way to the mess hall. It had been a very long day. She'd been working non-stop for days and she was exhausted. All she wanted now was to eat something, maybe stop by the bar for a drink, and take a long, hot shower before bed. Grabbing some food at random, she got a cup of green tea and looked around for a table. She picked a table at random, one with a pretty Betazoid woman sitting by herself and walked over. "Excuse me, but may I join you?"

Dea waved to one of the empty chairs as she glanced up from her meal. She looked just as exhausted as Crawley, "Go ahead. I'm Dea Mialin, Chief Flight Control Officer. Or more accurately right now I could probably be Chief of the Walking Zombies."

Victoria laughed. "Trust me, I'm right there with you. These past few days have been a bi of a nightmare." She didn't even want to think about the horrors the ship had faced in the span of just a couple of days. It was enough to make anyone go mad.

"So I debating crashing in my own quarters after I quiet meal but didn't really feel like being alone just yet so I came here for a change of scenery for a bit," Dea responded.

"Yeah, I'm not sure I can handle being by myself just yet." Victoria said, taking a bit of a strawberry. "Too much to process."

Dea nodded, "I agree with you there." She took a bite of her pasta then a sip of her fruit juice. "So far I've just been going from one thing to the next because that's how the cards are stacked right now."

"It's been an interesting couple of days, that's for sure." Victoria shook her head and finished her strawberry.

"I don't think I've seen you around Galileo until just recently. Were you just assigned to the ship?" Dea inquired.

Victoria nodded and swallowed hard. "I was sent over from the Venture about a week ago. Pretty good timing, it turns out."

For a moment Dea was silent, "I'm truly sorry about what happened. Words are not enough. I had a friend that I've known since earlier in my career that was serving on that ship."

Victoria was silent for a minute. This whole situation sucked. There really was nothing to say that could make any of this better. She chewed on her lip for a bit and stared into her cup. "It's truly abominable."

"I couldn't agree with you more there," Dea replied somberly. "Galileo is a good ship with a good crew. You'll find a great new home here. If you ever just want to talk feel free to seek me out."

"Thank you, I might have to take you up on that soon." The way things were going lately, she knew she would definitely need someone to talk to. "Same goes for you; if you need to vent or something, let me know."

Dea nodded in agreement, "I'll keep that in mind. So how do you like to spend your time when you're trying to relax?" Changing the topic to a more pleasant one sounded like a good idea.

Damn it, I never do anything relaxing! she thought. She loved her work, so she was usually always working, which left little to no time to relax. You're a workaholic, of course you never have time to do relaxing things. "Um, well I like working out. It helps me think, and I'm finding that the Observation Lounge is a great place to just kind of stare out the window and do nothing. Honestly, though, work tends to be very cathartic." She made a face and laughed. "I probably need to change that."

A smile appeared as Dea nodded, "I know I'm guilty of that same thing. Focusing on work seems to be easier than anything else at times. That doesn't mean its the smartest choice I could make."

"No, probably not, but it's a habit." She said, smiling back at her. She took the last piece of fruit off her plate and ate it.

Dea finished off the last bite of sandwich followed by a sip of her juice. "That is very true. Following habit becomes second nature. I appreciate the fact that I didn't have to eat alone today."

Victoria nodded in agreement. "Me, too. It's nice to see a human face every once in a while. It gets kind of stuffy in the lab."

"That's understandable. I spend all day with people usually but with our recent survey missions I've been spending a lot of time looking at the inside of shuttle cockpits," Dea responded.

Victoria smiled a bit. "Fun times." She shook her head and stifled a yawn behind her hand. "Sorry, just tired I guess."

With a nod Dea responded, "I think we all are. Anyway I won't keep you I should get back to duty." Finishing off the last sip of her drink.

"I probably should, too," Victoria said, following suit and gathering her things. She stood up and smiled one more time at Lt. Mialin. "Thanks again for letting me intrude; eating alone can be such a drag sometimes."

Dea stood and picked up the PADD she'd been carrying around. "Agree eating along can be boring. See you around."
