Mission: Episode 03 - Frontier
Location: USS Galileo - Deck 1 Briefing Room
Timeline: MD 08: 0800 hours

[ON]

Amril waited in the briefing room with Eriksen. "You will coordinate members from other departments," he was saying, "once you receive the duty roster."

Ensign Horne entered the room to see two other shipmates already present. "Ensign Horne reporting as ordered," Marjorie stated, standing at attention and looking beyond the pair.

"Ah, Ensign," Amril said with a cheery tone, "Please, sit down. Before the meeting starts, I want to get to know my new assistant operations officer." He gestured to the tall blond woman sitting confidently in the chair beside the vorta. "Master Warrant Officer Sodia Erkisen, our boatswain."

Taking a seat towards the middle of the table, Marjorie wasn't sure that was right, but she could see the speakers better. "It's good to meet you," the ensign offered to Eriksen.

The Scandinavian woman gave a nod. "A pleasure," Eriksen agreed with a pleasant nod and smile.

"Now then," Amril said, passing a PADD to the boatswain, who brought it over to Marjorie, "we will be constructing a new shuttlebay. The itinerary is there on you PADD. I'm not sure what most operations officers say to their assistant chiefs, but it seems to me you've been Starfleet long enough to know what you are doing, so we may as well start right off with regular duties."

"Thank you, sir," Marjorie replied accepting the PADD to look over. "How soon does the bay need to be completed?"

"Four days. Once the others arrive, we will begin."

Mor'an floated into the room and perched on the edge of the first chair she saw. She looked around the room at the occupants and realized that she had not met one of them. The woman wore the gold of operations, which made Mor'an wonder if this was the new assistant chief.

"Ah, Cadet," Amril said with a pleasant smile and a nod.

Juliet made her way to the briefing room and slipped inside. She was far from the first to arrive, and the sight of everyone else already there and talking made her move as quickly as she could without disruption. She sat down, pushed some red hair from her forehead, then folded her hands on the table.

Keval walked in his white hair cut a little shorter than normal it was spiky and it looked like he had put some gel in it to make it spikier His uniform was fresh and right out of the replicators. He was carrying a cup of a coffee/chocolate drink and was licking the cream frosting with his blue tongue.

He walked quickly over to an empty chair and took a seat.

With everyone present, Amril stood up, more comfortable speaking from a command perspective that way, and addressed his department.

"Well then," he said, "Captain Saalm has asked me to oversee a spaceborne refit to the shuttlebay. We will convert the cargo bay one deck above into a secondary shuttlebay to accommodate a new shuttle complement. The shuttles will arrive in a few days. We will receive a runabout, a workpod, and a transport to replace a type-9 and Hunley shuttles.

"Today we will clear the cargo bay and prepare for the refit with the help of engineering. Tomorrow all internal equipment, tractor systems, and power access points will be installed. The day after will require some spacewalking and work in environmental suits to install the shuttlebay doors and forcefields. On the day the shuttles arrive, we will finish by laying down the shuttlebay deck plating and testing all systems with the incoming craft." Pausing, finally, Amril looked at the others. The vorta seemed somewhat pleased with his organization of the project.

Keval looked over at the department head. "Sir, I know tractor systems pretty well I can take charge of that if you prefer I could also help with the system's testing. I would prefer not do the spacewalking though."

"I'm sure that will do nicely, Mister Graysan," Amril said with a smile and nod, "Now then, we'll begin with clearing the cargo bay. Ensign Horne, please take charge of moving cargo. Draw on whatever resources you need. Make sure all cargo is relocated appropriately and the manifest updated accordingly. I will liaise with engineering and lay out the infrastructure plans. Later today we will have time to open the bulkheads where the new systems need to be installed, in preparation for tomorrow."

Juliet thought the idea was ambitious, but she also thought that it was a bit too much for what they were capable of doing. The ship was tiny. Such a massive project required weeks of work at a Starbase or drydock. Why they were directed to begin such an operation in the middle of a mission as demanding as this one, well, she was confused. Replicating all those materials would be a huge demand on energy, she thought. And the structural integrity in case of an attack would be significantly weakened. "Sir, do we have the appropriate manpower and resources to complete this task?" she asked. It seemed like officers lived in a separate universe sometimes.

Keval, took another sip if his coffee and gave a slight smile as he waited for his boss's response.

"Yes," Amril said, "We have several operations officers, and most of them can devote their time to this project. I have made the necessary changes. We will have help from engineering as well."

"I understand sir," Keval said. "We will do our best and give it our all, I think I speak for all of us."

"Excellent," Amril said, "We can begin now. Misses Eriksen will hand out your immediate assignments."

Keval nodded, his left antenane curled back slightly, waiting for the assignment to be handed out.
