ON:

Lt. Rhodes entered the Bridge. It was early, at the end of Gamma shift.

Amon smiled weakly as he checked the consol, jotting down the last of his report from his shift.

He walked over to the Tactical Station, stood next to Mormont on duty, and reviewed the current status from the tactical display.

Mormont felt him beside him and turned his head, watching him in silence. His Chief clearly wanted something and he hoped whatever it was wasn't a longer shift.

Rhodes finally said, "Good Morning Amon. I trust things are going well this morning." He could not believe it himself. He was making conversation is just a false way. He had always tried not to be that kind of officer, and here he was doing it. He would like to say he did not know why, but that was not true. He did know why. He just was not sure how to change it yet.

"All well, Sir," Amon said and smiled weakly, looking at his station. "You here to relieve me, Sir?"

"No, not exactly." Theron replied. "I believe Stark will be stepping in while our Lieutenant Rice is on a mission." He continued to look at the display and making adjustments, checking power levels, status on scheduled maintenance.

"Yes..." Amon said, knowing she was. What it was about he wasn't sure. And what his Chief wanted was unsure as well.

"With Aria away, I figured I should touch base with you." The Chief began, "The Captain has authorized the Department to have a party. Something where we can all feel relaxed and have some fun. I felt we needed to wait until after . . . the Memorial Service before I could even plan the event." He couldn't even bring himself to say the word Stone now.

"We need one," Amon said, relaxing now he knew what it was about. He smiled gently. "My advice, Sir? We get a nice area up. We get in the drinks, we all wear civvies...just a party. Get some party games in there as well if you want."

"This all sounds good." Theron encouraged, then confessed. "I'm not much of a social party type person. I do not want to dump the planning on someone else, but can surely use the help.

Amon nodded, taking it as he let out a breath. "So when?"

Theron explained, "I was thinking about tomorrow and have it a come and go event from 2200 until 0200, to allow for the different shifts to participate."

"I am happy to organize it, but I'll need my shift off to do that and I am unsure if I can take the time," he said and smiled weakly, meeting his eyes. "But someone else can run it and I can organize from my desk."

Theron replied, "Well, do what you can. Call on Christoff. She's been very flexible to fill in recently, and is competent at Tactical for a few hours."

"Good...I will do that, Sir," he said with a small nod, holding his eyes for a long moment before breaking eye contact. "Anything else, Sir?"

Rhodes stood straighter and with authority, yet not raising his voice added, "Officially, I want to let you know that your end of watch reports the last couple days, since being assigned to Tactical on Gamma shift have been very good." He hesitated, concerned that the term very good might be misconstrued. He added, "They have been efficient and complete. Thank you."

Mormont watched him with surprise before nodding gently. "Thank you, Sir. I sat down with the rest of my shift and taught them the regulation way of filing a report. And explained that any additional information could be put on the footnote rather than riddle the entire report."

Rhoded nodded as Mormont explained then said, "Excellent." then smiled, "Keep of the good work." With nothing more, the Chief turned and left the Bridge.
