"Xanth Personal Log, Stardate 67640.3..."

304 words; about a 2 minute read

"I am not being needlessly paranoid. As soon as I can get all the data straight and presentable, I'll have my evidence. It won't be the usual kind of proof, DNA on a console, computer records of tampering, a security recording of someone sneaking around, but it'll still be proof. The math will back me up."

"With infinite possibilities and nigh-infinite variables, our arrival in the so-called Mirror Universe doesn't just strain plausibility, it stuffs it down the event horizon of super-massive black hole! I've only spoken to a couple of people about it so far: Commander Kohl and then, when he left, Admiral Saalm. I don't know who else to trust, and I am not even sure I can trust her but I had to tell someone."

There is a long pause and the sounds of shifting around, the nervousness plain even without a visual recording.

"At least this upcoming symposium should be easy enough to manage; I already have a topic to present! But getting up in front of all those other scientists to do so is...well, it makes me frightened. I have an idea though, and I need to go talk to Beaumont about it sometime soon. Maybe there's something I can do for him to trade in asking him to give up some of his shore leave time to help me out."

"If this doesn't work though, I think I'll become a laughingstock of the scientific community. I know how bad I stutter in front of groups, and they'll laugh me off the stage. We scientists can be so vicious sometimes! Anyways, I'm going to double check that my quarters are secure, run another scan of the surrounding sections with my tricorder to see if I missed any other signs of sabotage. More later."

"Computer, end log."
