[ON]

I am happy to report that the USS Galileo and her crew have successfully returned to our own universe following the crisis that led to our encounter with our mirror selves.

We find ourselves en route to the Sol system to attend the well known Exeter symposium aboard Jupiter station. Whilst the scientifically focused members of my crew show their usual excitement and trepidation towards matters of such importance, I cannot help but find myself a little lost amongst the intellectuals.

The ship's captain I may be, but a scientist I am not. That much is clear. I must only imagine that those who serve in non-research roles aboard ship share my own sense of bewilderment at what exactly there will be other than scientific blabbering during this event.

I myself intend to take some time to do what I can to better prepare the ship for our next mission. Whilst Command will be wanting to debrief myself and the Admiral back in San Francisco, I feel it will also be the perfect time to do what I can to improve our defensive capabilities. The ferocity of the Mirror Universe invasion of the ship and the speed with which they boarded and took control of almost every deck is still of cause for concern to me.

I doubt I will be able to requisition a squad of Marines for future missions, but perhaps a few more phasers and an upgrade to our force field emitters might not be so difficult to obtain.

Following the symposium I am hopeful that there will be something a little more routine for the crew to busy themselves with. I am yet to receive our orders for after this short shore leave is completed, but the idea of taking the ship back into another dangerous situation is something I would rather avoid for now.

The little information I have received so far indicates a rather extensive alteration to our crew - it seems transfers both onto and away from the Galileo will be taking up a significant portion of my time.

For now, I shall enjoy the relative quiet of this cruise back to Sol, and try to figure out how exactly to best avoid the armada of Ph.D's and Professors that await me....

End Log.
