Walking into his quarters, David noticed the console flashing, indicating a saved message for him. Going to the console after dropping bag down by the door, David scanned the messages. One from Starfleet, probably nothing of importance, and one from his mother Evette.

~Probably news about Helena~ He mused. His cousin Helena had been put aboard the Asgard and in a short period had risen to Chief Engineer, funny considering she was trained in Flight Ops.

Opening the message, he began to read over his mother's note. The usual prattle about family, his younger sister was doing well in her new job. Found a new boyfreind after she'd tossed the last one out, family wasn't giving this one much in the way of odds as this was the seventh she'd been dating. To be fair, David hadn't really settled down yet either. Well, if his fling the night before with his roommate was any indication was any indication.

Helena was doing well as well. Apparently she and her girlfreind Silk had decided on having a child together. In a bit of a twist, she'd apparently been planning on IVF but a week before the procedure ended up in bed with some guy she'd met on a camping trip. End result was the camper was the daddy, not the random IVF donor, so she got her results in the end, just not how she'd planned it. Oh and she was expecting twins, due in 4-5 months as the father was Bajoran.

Last bit of news was about his brother and their family. His wife's eldest daughter was apparently back on her mother's homeworld studying at some school there. The rest of the family were still aboard the Wolff in deep space on some mapping mission. They were overdue reporting in but Starfleet wasn't worried yet as deep space assigned ships were sometimes late checking in.

Closing the note, David made a note to reply once things were calmer aboard ship. He needed to eat something before his roommate got off shift.
