[Min's quarters]

Min sat in her chair facing the computer on the coffee table. "Computer. Begin recording." A little red light flashed up indicating she was live.

"Life is about choices. Good ones, bad ones, easy ones, hard ones. Sometimes choices we make mean we have to make harder choices down the road, sometimes we don't even have a choice, we just must. This is one of those."

"A few days ago I was forced to leave Lian in the care of Starbase 84's family care department while I disappeared into space for war games. I know why I had to, wargames are inherently dangerous and with my husband and I on seperate ships, the danger to Lian can only be mitigated by leaving her behind."

"It doesn't mean I have to like it though. She's only a few months old and I've never left her out of mine or Jared's care for this long. She needs my attention, she needs her mother."

Min could feel her voice begin to break. "I just really hope these exercises go smoothly and are over quick. It's only been 48hrs since I saw her last and I'm already feeling like this. How usefull will I be to the Admiral in combat if I'm always thinking about her?"

"Computer. End Log." Min closed the lid of the computer.
