She found her place at the very front and soared along the great welling currents of air. Higher and higher she went, until the air itself began to thin. She laughed as she climbed though the storm threatened many times to ruin her flight, she fought off each attempt.

'Do your worse!" Araylinda shouted at the clouds. "I can out fly you and out dance you on the air.: What Araylinda did not know was that deep within the storm Mother I'nio, Mother Storm, was watching and listening. "

Mother I'nio watched deep within the clouds at the young girl that was so light and yet so arrogant. Though she tried many times to take Araylinda and teach her a lesson the young girl managed to slip away.

"H'au 'Atina," Mother I'nio called to her sister. The bringer of cold and ice.
From the tall mountains below came the reply, "Sister I here you. What is it?"
Mother I'nio sent a burst of wind that buffeted Araylinda but she again danced away. "Behold, this girl mocks me, she shows no respect, help me my sister."
Her sister laying in the dust of snow and ice upon the mountains observed the girl dancing and laughing in the face of her sister and thought for a moment. "Sister," she called. "Take your winds and blow upon me."

The winds swept the high mountains and lifted the snow and ice off the mountains until each was a fine edged sword. The crystals spread high into the air and Araylinda flew into them. Each crystal was like a stinging whip upon her skin and threatened to shred her wings. Araylinda cried out and dove away from the assault now beaten. Coming to ground she fell on her knees and bowed her head toward the storm.

I'nio was now satisfied that the girl had learned respect but her sister was not so satisfied and she lodged a snow crystal in Araylinda's eye. As the storm moved on and the snow settled 'Atina whispered. "My crystal will distort all you see, where there is warmth, there will be cold. Where there is happiness you will only see sorrow. Where there is beauty, there will be only ugliness."

Araylinda did not hear the words as she had already taken flight yet again and headed home but the joy she had had while flying the storm was vanished. When she arrived home the fields of green and the blue of ocean seemed to her dull. Though the light of the Twins danced on the ocean it looked tarnished, the fields seemed blighted. Perhaps she thought, she was more tired than she thought.
The taste of the Blood Flower fruit seemed sour upon her tongue. Everywhere she went it seemed as if others whispered about her behind her back and caste ugly glances her way. Every class was a chore and she was convinced that each teacher singled her out for punishment and ridicule. Her heart grew cold and hard and her friends that she had now avoided her and her sharp tongue.

Soon Araylinda was alone. The world around her was nasty, foul and full of spite and finally she could not take it any longer and wished to no longer be around others. The grey clouds that hung over the distant mountains seemed to be more inviting and one day she took flight yet again for the allure of that grey expanse seemed more bright to her than anything around her in her home.

Araylinda flew until the grey mountains covered in snow were now just beneath her and she marveled at how that cold hard stone seemed to be welcoming. The snow and the cold wind seemed to be inviting and she landed in that cold realm that seemed more home than the one she left.
