Captain's Log, Stardate 66180.0

After three days of preparing the Galileo for launch, I'm finally sleeping better at night. Most of the ship's technical problems have been smoothed out and I've had a chance to meet a good portion of the crew. They seem...young. Especially the enlisted personnel. But they're enthusiastic and in good spirits, which is a relief. I wish I could say the same for myself.

Several hours ago, I received new departure orders from Starfleet. Our original morning launch date has been moved forward by twelve hours, and we will now be putting to space in the middle of the night. There seem to be some unexpected developments in our mission which are causing quite a stir amongst the flag officers here at HQ. I can't say I blame them, considering the importance of this mission.

On a side note, my younger sister is coming to visit the HQ today. I'm scheduled to pick her up in a hour and I hope I can schedule some free time during the day to spend with her. We've had a bit of a rocky relationship over the years...she's not very fond of my career choice, I think because it means that I'm away from home for so long. I'm hoping that by bringing her to San Francisco, she can see first-hand what the Federation is and what we're trying to accomplish.

Computer, end log.
