Anthropologist's log - 01

Posted on 18 Jun 2014 @ 10:30pm by Lieutenant Oren Idris Ph.D.

329 words; about a 2 minute read

Oren Idris' personal log

I'm not sure what I'm supposed to be saying here.

Do people even read these things? Like, seriously, is someone, one day, going to actually sit down and listen to the logs of people living on a little ship going through space? What purpose would that serve?

*There's a pause*

Well, now that I think about it, it would actually be a very good source of ethnographic information for someone doing research on Starship life.

*He sighs*

What to say? What to say?

Well, to anyone who may be listening in the future, hello! I'm Oren, and I've just arrived on the Galileo today. I'm sure you already know what will happen to us and I'm not sure how I feel about that. I hope you're having a good day but, guessing you're stuck reading or listening to these boring logs, I guess you aren't. Sorry about that. You can quit after this one. I won't tell. *Oren laughs*

Well, getting here is a long story. I can't believe I was three days late! Three days! It's so embarrassing. See, I travel a lot and, as you know, not every planet has the same length for days, years etc, so I usually keep an offline schedule or I link it to the system of the planet I'm on. So, when I left J'naii I completely forgot to link it up again to the new system. So...yeah, I guess it isn't that long of a story. But, it's late and I'm here now.

*Oren clears his throat*

I'm not sure what exactly to think about the Galileo yet. I've met a few people and so far they seem nice enough, but I don't really know anyone yet. I'll try to get to know more people tomorrow and maybe my next log won't be so boring.

Going to bed now.

I hope you have a wonderful day, stranger.
